Because if a woman has the remote the TV won't stay on one channel long enough to watch a commercial from beginning to end let alone a whole program. Click,click,click,click,click,click,click,click.........

Not in my case!!! If I'm watching TV, I don't like channel surfing. Now my dad, that's a different story! I swear he knows just when I'm getting into a program... just when the plot thickens... click! [8|]

I'm not a channel surfer at all. I go where I want to go, I stay until it is over. My Hubby on the other hand had very muscular fingers from pressing the buttons on the remote at the speed of light. The channel would be changed, before my eyes could focus enough to see what's on.

I don't know if other guys are being honest or not, but when I say I'm not thinking about anything, or that I'm thinking nothing, I really am thinking nothing. I believe that most guys are capable of shutting down their brains for short periods of time. Unfortunately, at inappropriate times on occasion.

Jazzlvr,

quote:

I grew up as the only boy in the family. I have three sisters and a mother, I know for a fact that girls stare at guys, too. I'd wager that we are all thinking the same thing.

Growing up around girls by no means allows you access to the thoughts that we are thinking. [&:] While it is true we can let our eyes linger a bit too long--I think women are far less guilty of this than men. It's just, some men stare so intently, I am almost compelled to ask them if I can assist them? I just don't get it.

But your responses have been enlightening. [:)]

You are absolutely correct. Growing up around girls does not allow me access to their thoughts. But if you will re-read my post a little closer you will notice that I did not state I "knew" what they were thinking as they stared at guys, but only that I'd "wager" we think the same things.
My willingness to place such a wager is based on the open conversations my mother and sisters had while sharing the Christmas issue of the Victoria's Secret catalog and it's section displaying men's undergarments.
Let's just say that their attention, at such times, was always focused on a certain bulging area of the models anatomy.

Growing in my house, if I didn't actually sit on the remote or hide it from my mom and sisters, I'd get dizzy from watching the channels spin.

Ok, I finally have a question:

Guys, why do you spout an answer to a problem as if you know what you are talking about when the truth is you know little or nothing about it?

Sometimes afterwards you admit that you really didn't know. Other times you never admit it or find some way to hide the fact that you didn't know ("oh, they must have changed the policy since I was there" or some such nonsense).

I don't know. I've never done that. Which would be obvious because everyone knows I know everything.

You certainly are a man of extremes. You really need another character on the other shoulder to balance out the OH. You know like the devil/angel thing. You might be more balanced that way.[;)]

I can see it now. I'll be talking to myself and my OH will be arguing with my Well Deserved Self Esteem (WDSE). and then people will really worry about me![:D]

I'll pass on the John O beat down. That seems well in hand.

Back to the TV question. I don't surf with the remote. I do have two TV's in my study and I often have them both on at once on different channels. I will have the sound down on one however.

Anyone notice that it is the women primarially asking the questions over men?

A variety of reasons, Mike.

1) we are NOT lazy. Therefore we do not spout opinions or answers we know nothing about before gathering more information.

OR

2) we have never had a safe place to ask these questions before and they've been driving us nuts.

OR

3) we are NOT channel surfing, therefore we think. Questions are a natural result.

OR

4) we are more gifted in the relationship maintenance department, and therefore communicate more freely.

OR

5) we don't mind looking stupid to gather information.
