2by2 -> To Read or Not to Read... (5/8/2008 8:30:25 PM)

Do you read just one book at a time?

I am currently reading 4 different books and it drives my husband crazy. He doesn't understand how I can follow the story lines and keep all the characters straight. [8|]

I'm currently reading three novels, two books of short stories, three history/archaeology books, and am between novels in three series.

As long as you can keep it all straight, have fun![sm=dance.gif]

I try to focus on one novel at a time but sometimes I have several going at a time.

I find that reading 2-5 is the best for me. More than 5 and I start to loose interest in 1 or 2 of the others or I forget where I leave them.

I must admit that I can't read War and Peace with multiple others, but with most things it's easier to keep my options open. Then I can read whatever I feel like at the time. Otherwise I can get bored with one and go from novel to novel without finishing anything.

Right now I'm reading:

Kon-Tiki (non-fiction adventure/history)
As They Were (non-fiction biographical essays)
Ringworld (science fiction)
The Ketogenic Diet
The Italian Secretary (mystery/thriller)
and The Art of Kissing

Ringworld and The Italian Secretary are backburner books but the others have all been worked on in the last few days.

Right now I'm reading one non-fiction and one fiction book. Usually, I only read one book at a time, but I thought I would give this a try. We'll see how it goes.

HisCovenant -> RE: To Read or Not to Read... (5/15/2008 5:16:21 PM)

I can only read one fiction at a time, but can read several other books at the same time, if the subject matter is different. For example, I can't read two nutrition books at the same time or two gardening books at the same time. However, I could read one book each about nutrition, gardening, art, and a fiction story at the same time. I don't do that real often because I prefer fiction, but I can and have done so. [;)]

I always read multiple books at a time, and I don't read fiction very often. I don't seem to have a problem keeping them straight.

lanalounsbury -> RE: To Read or Not to Read... (5/16/2008 4:32:00 PM)

I usually have a few non-fiction going at one time. But when I get a new fiction I drop everything and read, stopping only for the work day, until it's done. So, I'm pretty much one book at a time :)

buckifn -> RE: To Read or Not to Read... (5/17/2008 5:30:40 AM)

pretty normal for me to read 3-4 at a time but if it's a good one Im reading it straight through a lot of the times

ebony101 -> RE: To Read or Not to Read... (5/17/2008 7:28:56 PM)

I prefer to read one book at a time. I don't think that I'll be able to keep the story lines straight.

I have started to read two books at a time in the past, but one usually gets left behind while I finish off the first one and then when that's finished I return to the other one to finish reading it.

That sounds exactly like me. One at a time, any more and I forget about the second one.

Liveloved -> RE: To Read or Not to Read... (5/20/2008 7:21:32 PM)

I am always reading many books at one time. Not alot of fiction but I do like to read some fiction to 'lighten' things up, KWIM?

I like to focus on one book at a time.
