Sounds like your computer is having problems resuming from hibernation. Most likely your power settings are set to hibernate after x minutes of inactivity. I was never able to get either standby or hibernation work on my desktop (like many other people I came across), so I just decided to leave the comptuer on at all times during the day, and then have the monitor itself shut down/go into power saver mode after 20-30 mins of inactivity. If you want to save energy, the monitor uses the most anyways (or so I've been told). You can experiment with different settings--maybe standby will work for you--at any rate, you can access power settings for both computer and monitor by going to control panel and selecting power options.
