A couple years ago we had a "Singles Group" at our church. One of the reasons it is "had" is that the responsibility of the group fell totally on the group- the church did little to support it (other than a very, very small amount of money given to the group). That, of course, meant that about 3 people were always the people doing/planning everything! Talk about burn-out!

Funny thing though, the largest age group in ours was the 50-somethings. Very few 20-30 yr. olds, and we did have a few in their 80's but that didn't last long because we did a lot of active things- bowling, sledding, game nights, etc.

I think the church as a whole is really missing the boat on Singles Ministry. "We" are a large population in the church, we should not be invisible.

I just read in our bulletin that a single's ministry is starting up in our church. It sounds promising. The opening event is being done in a park/beach, and seems to be an outdoorsy bunch. And it's kid friendly. Hmmmm....I'm liking it. I've never belong to a singles group before, so I have no issue yet.
