tenorsister -> Happy Mothers Day (5/11/2008 12:26:06 AM)

Today is the day for all mothers. So....I thought it would be nice to take this day and tell what you mother means to you today and every day.

My mother was a very important part of my life. Fifteen years ago my mother very unexpectedly went home to be with the Lord. But there is not hardly a day that has passed over these years that I have not thought about her. Many changes have happened over these years and many times I wish she had been there to share in these life events. My mother truly lived a Christian life and raised us in a good Christian home. My mother was my best friend and I miss here today and every day. But for as much as I miss her I would not wish her back on this Earth but rather live everyday knowing that I will see her again and she is "all right". I love you Mom....Happy Mothers Day

Happy Mother's Day to my Mom. And Happy Mother's Day to all the Mom's on the SG Forum.

God Bless.

Kerrlaw1 -> RE: Happy Mothers Day (5/11/2008 1:31:21 AM)

My parents married young and I was born when she was 19. She had worked briefly outside the home, but then became a full time homemaker and mother until I was 15. Recognizing that I was fully mature and self sufficient, she then went to work in a business ran by my aunt and uncle. It was a Kentucky Fried Chicken, which meant lots of tasty and healthful food. [sm=chicken.gif]

She was a very hard worker. Not only did she perform the normal domestic duties of a stay at home Mom, she helped in the large garden that my father put out and also worked in the tobacco crop that he raised on the side. I can still remember the three of us working on cold Thanksgiving Days and weekends handing off tobacco if it was "in case".

One memorable day when my father was at work in the zinc mines, she mowed the yard, washed the car, did the laundry, painted the house, and made supper.[sm=icon_smile_faint.gif]

Not seeing any chance of improving on perfection, she had no other children.

For almost 50 years I have told her that I don't like ham. She still serves it up and when I don't eat any she still says "You don't like ham?"[sm=pig.gif]

The only time that I ever remember her spanking me was when I had done something very bad in church. I don't think she wanted to, but she felt called by God to do so.

She let me drive the car on my own when I was 15, even on dates.[sm=car.gif]

She has loved me unconditionally since the day I was born and I pray almost every day that I will honor her with my actions.

Happy Mother's Day Mom, I Love You.[sm=heart.gif]

My mother went home to be with the Lord on March 10th 2003. I still miss her every day but am gratefull in knowing I will be with her again some day. At Church every mothers day I always tell all the mothers who are there and don't have a child with them to let me know and I will give them a hug as a stand in son. Happy Mothers day to all of the mothers on the boards.

I too had a wonderful Mother. She never had an easy life, but made-do with what she had. She bore 3 childrens that have all turned out well. When I was 19, married & had 1 son, she came to know the Lord as her Savior. She was very ill with cancer at the time. Ten days later God took her home from all of the pain & suffering that she was in to her new home with Him. I thank the Lord that He kept her here untill she made a choice for Him. I miss her but I know I will see her when I get to Heaven one of these days.

It's so sad that she didn't instill a good self-esteem into you.
So, so sad.

I hope each of ya'll had a wonderful Mother's day. For those whose Mothers have went on to be with our Lord, I pray you embrace your favorite memory of her.
For me and all of my family, we have the best Godly mother ever given...for that I am so thankful. We spent this sunny day outside eating Hamburgers, laughing, and fishing. My lil' nephew Brady caught his first fish, it made mom's day completely perfect.

I am surprised there have only been seven posts in this thread today. Now I know many Mother's Day greetings have been in other threads, just surprised only seven here in this thread.

I have to brag on my Mother In Law.

She's my friend, my shopping buddy, my sounding board when I'm having a rough time, mom to my hubby and his brother. She works a full time job as a hair dresser and donates her time and talent when occasions arise by doing hair for fund raisers or helping the needy.

She's a Godly woman who not only took her 2 boys to church every time the doors were open, but she lives her life, every day just as she lives at church. She helped make my husband who he is and I love her for that.

She's my Father In Law's care giver. He has Parkinson's Disease. The disease has progressed, but so has her love for him. She stays awake all night when he can't sleep because of hallucinations from his medicine, she remembers his medicine and makes him comfortable while not giving much thought to herself and her wants.

She does all of this and is still the best Grandmother that two blond headed girls and one curly headed GB could ever ask for.

She's an angel.[sm=angel.gif]

My precious, Godly Mother's funeral was 5 years ago today.
(The visitation at the funeral home was on Mothers' Day).
I miss her so much, and I can't WAIT to see her again.

My Mom went to be with Jesus and my dad in 1978. I cherish the memories of the 27 years I had with her and miss her to this day. I hope y'all went to see your mother or at least called if possible. Sure wish I could see mine.

Smokymtnsanta -> RE: Happy Mothers Day (5/12/2008 4:41:56 PM)

Good posts Jim and Sam. Got to talk to my Mom yesterday. And so glad we got to visit a few weeks ago for a few days.
