Don't be so sure of that. Rasmussen already has him polling at 6% nationally, including 5% of Democrats and 7% of Republicans. And this is before most people have heard of him.
Given the dissatisfaction with McCain and the Democrats, I strongly suspect he will get a significant number of votes.

Your right PolarBear, Barr will get more than half a percent. I'd be surprised though if he is able to pull in 5-7 percent. At this point, I'll be voting for McCain. The biggest reason being that the next president will likely pick 2 or more Supreme Court justices and I don't want Obama picking them.

Well I kind of agree with that reasoning, which is why I voted for Bush in 2004. But how much longer are we going to keep voting for bad Republicans based only on that? If we continue to do that, there is no chance of any real change.
Also, after this coming election, there will virtually certain to be more than 60 pro-death senators. So how good of judges can McCain really be expected to push through?
Having said all that, I'll hold off to see the political condition in November before deciding between Barr and McCain. Being in Texas though, it probably doesn't matter and it would be more valuable to send a message.
