billnc -> If You Could Change One Thing About Your Walk With God (5/12/2008 8:35:48 PM)

What would it be?

What's the most difficult thing about being a Christian for you?

SavedByGraceMD -> RE: If You Could Change One Thing About Your Walk With God (5/12/2008 8:48:25 PM)

My lack of confidence in my witness.

I recall when God talked to Moses and told him to go to Pharaoh, and Moses tried to get out of it with excuses, and the old why me approach. Sometimes that is how I feel, slow of tongue and weak of heart. Why me, and who am I. But throughout the Bible, God used people you wouldn't think to use, so why not me.

Being consistent, sometimes I remind myself of the nursery song, "There was a girl with a curl right in the middle of her forehead, and when she was good she was horrid."

It is so hard for me to adhere to spiritual disciplines, and it harms me greatly that I do not stick to it.

My lack of confidence, faith and trust when the devil attacks

Liveloved -> RE: If You Could Change One Thing About Your Walk With God (5/12/2008 10:44:43 PM)

Loving Jesus as He deserves.

Putting my full trust and confidence in Him.

But He is getting me there.

Praise the name of Jesus. [:)]

SavedByGrace - It's a good sign that you recognize that God may be calling you to witness. Remember that Moses was awfully headstrong in his younger days. God knew he had put that into Moses.
As for you, God prepares the way. If you are open to being sensitive to whom God puts in your path, the Lord will surprise you with opportunity.

In doing ministry at a high school, I always wanted to connect with the cool, athletic kids. Well, there was one african-american VERY athletic kid sitting by himself at lunch one day. As I walked by (too scared to talk to him), I noticed that he was reading "Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul." All my fears went away and I thought "Now THIS is a kid I can talk to!" So I pulled up a chair. It was the beginning of an awesome relationship.

God will give you opportunites - some softballs, actually - if you look for them.

SomeFineDay - My spiritual life changed when I realized that spending time with God was like titheing and that I should give God the BEST time of the day - instead of squeezing Him in. Your time with God is the MOST important thing you'll do all day. Figure out when you're sharp and spend time with God during that time. Read your Bible. Email me and I'll show you how to do it.

JMCrwd - It took me years to get over my fear of the Evil One. I always knew about the verse that says "If God is for us, who can be against us?" Romans 8:31 And I would always think, "Well, Satan is against me!" The two things that helped are Jesus prayer of protection in
John 17:15 and then 2 Thessalonians 3:3 - "But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one." That is a DIRECT promise of protection which you can take to the bank.

Liveloved - Well, we'll NEVER love Jesus as much as He deserves! At least, not in this life. *laughing* I am so glad you feel like you're gaining confidence. Faith is like a muscle, the more you use it, the stronger it becomes.

Thanks for the responses. I hope this helps. May you be blessed.

Yours,
Bill

I would have left my old church as an infant instead of being kicked out when I was 50.5.

If I had been smarter, I would have understood His love and grace a lot earlier, too.

lots of things.

1.I would be more consistent in bible reading and praying, and not wait till like midnight to decide to read the bible and pray.

2.I would like to witness more and not be afraid to talk about God to people.

3.I would love to be able to worship God with all my heart and not think people are staring at me if I raise my hands,or pray aloud.

SonInMe1 -> RE: If You Could Change One Thing About Your Walk With God (5/13/2008 7:45:57 AM)

To put God first in all things including my thoughts and actions.

Being more obedient.....

Surviving the greatest single cause of atheism in the world - church people and churches who shoot you and use you in order to achieve their agendas.

Amen JazTek! Ever more vulnerable to His Spirit:

a. Little Faith (restless, struggling, wavering)
b. Great Faith (reaching, maturing faith)
c. Perfect Faith (resting faith)

Far enough question.

(1)Consistancy in changing "years in the making" way of thinking. To me, to truely repent, one MUST not only address but delibertly change their thinking that isn't in-line with the Lords commands. With our wills (which is the only thing that is really ours) and the awesome power/presence of the Holy Spirit, our thoughts can forever be transformed to be like the Masters.

(2) To be more like the Lord and less like the world.
