I need to know how to make these tonight for BIBLE Club at church. I think it takes hot dogs and canned biscuits baked together, but I'm not real sure. Thank you for any help you can give with this.

You can make them with hotdogs (cut in 1/4), but they're a whole lot better if you make them with little smokie sausages. Just use a can of biscuits and press each biscuit flat. Put a sausage (or 1/4 hot dog) in the middle and wrap the biscuit around the meat. Put them on a baking pan with the seam side down and bake them at whatever temperature and time the buscuit directions on the can say. They're super easy and happen to be my husband's favorite meal in the world [&:]

Don't know if this helps but as an English person pigs in blankets are sausages wrapped in bacon.

To do this you cook the sausages under the grill until nearly cooked, wait until they cool down, and wrap the uncooked bacon around the sausages. Then grill turning over until bacon is nice and crispy.

Can be eaten hot or cold.[:)]

Thank you for the help. Since they are for children I think I will use hot dogs but may try to find the little coctail hot dogs.

We use cocktail sausages and crescent rolls. Just flatted out the crescent rolls, then cut little squares (you'll get the hang of how big) then wrap around the sausages, making sure to seal the seams. Then bake until the bread is done! YUMMY!

Sister Schubert has some in the freezer section that are the "go to" pigs at our church. They are much easier than making them and the yeast roll she uses is better than any canned biscuit I've ever tasted.

my mom would use hot dogs, cut in half (or not all the way through, but enough for a slit) and put a slice of cheese in it (I find that cheesy hot dogs work fine if you are lazy like me!!!)...then for each hot dog wrap in a crescent roll...you kind of have to stretch it around them, but you figure out the best way pretty fast. You do have to make sure all of the hot dog is covered though because otherwise the cheese melts all over your pan. Not bad to have melted cheese, but not easy to clean up either on some pans.

When I make pig-in-the-blankets I make up some dough in my bread machine. Then I flatten out a chunk of dough, and wrap the whole hot dog in it. Let rise for a bit, and bake.

I used to use biscuits, I think I used the jumbo size.

I like them with cheese too, but I am too lazy to slit them and stuff, so I buy the little smokies with cheese![:)] These are going on next weeks menu....

That is how my mom made them. I don't cut my hot dogs anymore though I fold the cheese in half like a triangle and then put it in the triangle of the crescent roll. It just is easier than cutting the hot dog and stuffing them with pieces of cheese.

lol...yeah it can be very tedious to cut and stuff them all...that's why I love the invention of the hot dog with cheese already in it!!!

I use cocktail dogs and crescent rolls. Either 2 or 3 to a crescent roll: depends on how much I want to stretch the rolls. 2 is real bready and 3 is a little stingy but works OK.

Thank you for all of the help. I made them for the children last night and they loved them. I do have one more question. Do you think I could bake them and then put them in a crock-pot to keep them warm untill they are served? I had to reheat some of them as they got cold before they were all eaten.

I think the bread would get soggy if you did that. It'd probably work, but I would personally prefer them at room temp than warm and soggy. But thats just me.

It may not get soggy if the top was left off, but I'd worry about the bread on the bottom overcooking.

when I make them to take somewhere I just cover them with foil....and leave breathing air holes. Then they don't get soggy and stay warm for quite a while.
