KissTheSon....please tell your friend, what if he/ she experience what I did today? I got a text message from my big brother early in the morning that my Dad just passed away!!! Did I get angry to Jesus Christ? NOPE! I just washed up & ran in tears (and mixed emotion inside) to my new church ASAP for support & prayed there inside the empty hall, where I could find peace. I believe he's already with Jesus, back together again with my Mom in Heaven above, amen. Just remember, God does love each and everyone of us, amen. Thank you all for reading this.....GBU.

Boy... you hit the nail on the head! People are just as happy as clams and have no problems whatsoever with God as long as everything is going their way. But man... if someone or 'something' upsets the applecart... then they feel they have every right to hold God responsible.

That is the problem with the church today (not the building [8|])... many folks just do not have a holy and reverent fear of God anymore. There is such a thing as righteous anger... an anger that demonstrates our feelings regarding an injustice done. I don't think "red lights" qualify as righteous anger. Even though we do not control the lights, we do control how we drive; all she needed to do was slow to an acceptable speed (or speed up) and re-adjust her driving to the timing of the lights. However, blaming God is easier for people. Why? Because then they eliminate themselves of "responsibility."

God tells us to "be angry, but sin not"... I believe He is still referring to that righteous anger... none-the-less, as others have said, God already knows we are angry and upset about whatever situation we are facing. I think a better course of action would be to sit down and talk it out with Him. Ranting and raving and yelling and blaming... is not righteous anger. That is our emotions gone wacky! And that course of action is neither respectful to our Lord nor honorable.

In no way have I ever debased God or even tried to bring Him to my level. Nor have I think or treat Him like a lowly human.

Do not insinuate that I am part or believe the new age garbage that is out there.

My personal experience when I *was* angry with Him, He already knew I was angry and He did not give me anger back but gently rebuked me, showing me my error, that my anger was displaced.

Actually, the only part of my post that referred to what you said was the first paragraph (which you omitted when you quoted me here).

I then started a new paragraph and gave my viewpoint on the reason why I think many believe it is acceptable to rant and rave at God. This was not directed at you...it was a general statement and I'm sorry that you made the assumption that it was personal.

Nothing comes to my mind...and I am often angry but can't really think of anything I could blame God for.

I think that if we find ourselves, in our heart of hearts, angry with God (and it does happen sometimes but should not be our habitual way of dealing with life) the only thing to do is admit it to Him and get it all out in the open. Yes, God is beyond big enough to handle our anger and much better for us to be honest about it than to deny it and stagnate.

On the other hand, blaming God for making me late to church is ludicrous.

Yes. It was mistaken and misplaced anger but it was anger nonetheless.

As an example, anger is one of the stages of grief.
Sometimes we are angry at the one who has left us.
Sometimes we're angry at our circumstances.
But sometimes we are angry at God for having "taken our loved one away".

It is vitally important to recognize who we are specifically angry with and have a sincere heart to heart about it with God. If we deny our anger because it's "wrong", there can never be any moving beyond it.

But, having once recognized that we were actually angry with our Creator, it is to be hoped that we will have a much more rational response in the future which causes us to run to Jesus rather than rail at God.

I think is is unfortunate that the OP asked such an important question, but used such a silly example. Some peoples response seem to be directed at the example, while others are directed at the question.

This is a valid and important question.

What God wants from us is honesty and genuineness. He wants this not for Himself, but for us...He already knows the truth about us, whether we acknowledge it to ourselves or not.

The alternative to honesty and genuineness is pretending...acting. Jesus harshest words were always reserved for the pretenders. God deals in reality, not fantasy. If you are angry with God, that is the reality.

It is okay to be real with God. It is better then okay, it is what He wants.

I've had cancer. I've been through two broken engagements. I've been laid off from a couple of jobs. I've had my share of difficulty in this life.

Through it all, I've never blamed God for any painful thing in my life. It just doesn't make any sense, in my opinion, to get angry at God. He's always good, always loving. If I experience any difficult times, it's the result of my sin or someone else's, and/or is something the Lord is using to discipline me for good.

I've never understood why anyone would be angry at God, in effect accusing Him of sinning.

I never got angry at my dad mainly because I have always had great respect for him. It used to upset me when I disappointed him or caused him to be angry at me.

This is the way I feel about God but multiplied to infinity.

The thing is, not all of us had dads. And those that did, not all of those dads were good parents. Many of us learned that dad is vindictive, hurtful and hateful. Someone who would much rather give us a snake than a fish (is that how it goes?) Because our idea of our Heavenly Father is very much influenced by our earthly father, many of us grew up warped and with a skewed view.

It takes a long time, under those circumstances, to come to a more truthful view of what God is really like.

Those who have gotten angry with God are not bad people. They are people who are misplacing their anger or who have a twisted view of who God is.

That said, those who habitually blame God and remain angry really need to get honest about themselves with God.

I could have gotten angry at my dad mainly because I knew him, could see him, and touch him.

People get angry at God because they do not truly know Him. Once you truly know God, you can't help but love Him and anger is a rare thing.

Not seeing or feeling God gives humans the edge. We have to learn about Him a different way other than with our senses. The only time I get angry at someone I do not know is when I see them do something stupid like driving 10 miles under the speed limit in the left lane while talking on their cell phone. That is when I wish our invisible God would issue a lightning bolt strategically where I want it. [8D]

Of course, I agree with this. The only problem I have is with implying that a poor soul who doesn't truly know Him ought to know better than to ever experience that anger.

We can only 'know better' when we learn to know Him. Sometimes that takes a very long time and requires overcoming many enormous obstacles and unlearning an awful lot of things we've been taught.
