BTW, the government didn't do a thing financially for the string of white churches torched throught Alabama a year or two ago. I guess whites can't count on reparations from the government for thugs and hooligans either. Difference here, concerning blacks, the gov't was the thugs. quote:

OK, tracy, you've got the answer for everything. This whole thing is going nowhere. I'm not going to respond to any more of this. Have it your way. There's no reasoning with you. -Dave quote:

There's no reasoning with you. no I don't got the answer for everything! But I can look at history and tell the truth. I see alot of people can't. We want to minimize what blacks have done, throw up what they have done wrong, glorify what whites have done and lie about it, even though the books say: they slaughtered Natives, enslaved blacks, etc. If you find a "mistake " , show me where I'm wrong. Believe me if it was my Way , it would be totally different now. for one the owner of that bar, would have been barless right about now. For the Tshirt.

Unfortunately this thread is clear indicator of the cultural conditioning we have all been exposed to. So much so many under-estimate, under-value and marginalized the experiences and the history (good and bad) of a certain groups of people while putting other groups on a pedestal. What we have here is a gross failure to understand the history of why a person would equate Senator Obama to curious George. Honestly it sickens me that as Christians we are to seek truth, well the truth is right here smacking you in the face and not even realizing that certain things have occurred and still occurring in this present day. Talk bad about Jews, it’s a problem. Talk about homosexuals it’s a problem. Talk bad about any other group, it’s a problem. Talk bad about African Americans, it’s ok because all they are doing is over-reacting and being politically correct. What kind of rass (excuse my language) business is that? This is racist nothing more and nothing less. If one doesn’t see it as such then either you are a terrible liar or a racist. Either way it is sinful. I really wish some of you will be honest.

They have the same hair line, gangliness, swing their arms the same when they are talking, walk in the same gait, etc. etc. etc. Now because you see racism under every bush, you want to deny the truth, not look for it. The truth is there is a strong resemplance and to deny it is to stick your head in the sand and scream racism when ther probably isn't any. Thanks RC

Guys you all made me laugh this morning. I am still worried about the back lash on Curious George himself, remember it is not his fault, he is innocent. Ok why I laughed it is so easy to misunderstand each other, we so need to go from being hostile to each other, and walk in true unity. I think the devil himself had the old scrubby bar-tender put that on a t-shirt, so we Christians could be out of unity, and offended. Number uno, I would not even go into that grubby, old bar and; futhermore has anyone seen anyone wearing this shirt? I would not, it would hurt peoples feelings, and I am foofooo woman who does not wear things like that anyways. Come on, I am not a redneck, please. People of all races need to be careful what they wear, this includes blacks also, I have seen Malcom X T-shirts, and though he may have changed his ways, it made this wasp, feel like the person wearing it was hostile towards me. So lets all just, do the right thing, and stop this divide. quote:

Well, it's obvious some of you think some of us are overreacting to the cute little monkey, but here's where I stand: If someone tells me something is offensive to them, within reason, I don't wear it. Period. Especially when there's historical precedent or more than a few people told me it was offensive. I don't care what I have a "right" to do. I don't think it's right to just go around offending people because this is America and you have a right to do so and they need to "get over it" and "get a life", etc. I would never wear a Malcolm X shirt or anything that would alienate people of other races, again, within reason. But I know there are some people out there who make a living doing things just to push people's buttons and to make statements. I'm not one of those people. I'm more the Romans 12:18 kind, "If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men." But if some of you are such huge fans of cute little curious george and such haters of Obama and are soooooooo convinced that they look alike and are compelled to wear one of those shirts cause you have a right to do so, have at it. Its your money. - Julius

Julius, we are in agreement with this. I am not going to wear a tacky T-shirt, and it is sin if we wear something to offend. Yes, I think CG is cute, really, but you know, this man has evil motives it makes it sin. to this When I saw CG at wal-mart last night, a toy, I was thinking how cute he is, and my mind came back to this thread, and it made me sad. I will give you a little confession of something I did wrong one time. There was this lady at church who, really condemed me for make-up, my childen and pokemon. She was a huge lady, not very clean, and did not smell nice. She was always judging me. One Sunday night because I knew it would offend her, I wore shorts to church. I was so convicted of my actions, I left the service. I usually will not even wear shorts now, capris yes, but everytime, I wear them, I feel the sad thing I did. My husband always wants me to wear shorts, but, I just cannot. This woman has been dead for five years, and yes she hurt many people, but, it did not justify my actions. The men are probaly going to think this is a stupid story, but, I think it applies. quote:

Some folks just do not consider it to be racially motivated, and I fall in that catagory. Thanks RC I didn't think I'd have to break it down, but here's a few examples of what I meant by, "within reason". I won't take off my Dallas Cowboys gear simply because someone is a diehard Washington Redskin fan. It's just sports. Besides its America's team and if you don't like the Cowboys I can question your patriotism. I won't take off my Prairie View A&M University shirt (my daughters alma mater) just because someone considers historically black colleges and universities a racist concept. Can't change where she went to school. I won't take off my Texas Longhorn gear (my alma mater) just because someone happens to be an Oklahoma fan. I can't help people being jealous. I won't take off my USA flag pin just because someone who hates this country finds it offensive. I'm just expressing who I am, an American. Can't change that. I won't take off my US Army Retired sticker from my vehicle just because someone loathes the military. I won't take off my leather shoes just because someone tells me they're offended by the fact that I'm wearing the hides of defenseless animals on my feet. Unless someone volunteers to buy me a pair of gatorskin shoes or boots, since alligators are NOT, defenseless animals. but I have.... As a team leader of a team of soldiers on a mission from Hawaii to Vietnam in the 90's, told my team (on orders from our command), not to wear anything that would offend the host government. That included "Hawaiian Warrior" T-shirts that for some reason, offended the people of Vietnam. When stationed in Japan, we were ordered not to wear t-shirts that showed an atomic mushroom cloud and the words, "Made in America, Tested in Japan". Of course we complied, but some thought at the time, "They should be over it by now." I don't know everything, so I don't mind being educated. If you tell me something's offensive to you and offer a compelling reason why, I don't wear it. In fact, the reason doesn't even have to be that compelling if I have readily available alternatives (Romans 12:18). One thing I don't claim to know, and never will know, is when someone is or should be, "over it." Whatever "it" is. But like you say, some people (I assume you are one) don't find any problem with Curious Obama despite a number of people here (both black and white) citing reasons why the image of a black man depicted as an ape is offensive. As a result they don't think it would be "within reason" to not wear that shirt although they've been educated and they have plenty other stuff to wear. Reminds me of a quote, "The difference between a child and a mature adult is that the child shows compassion only for their own pain, while a mature adult shows compassion for the pain of others." They don't find the t-shirt racist and I guess to them, that's all that matters. Oh well. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one Mr. R.C.. - Julius

Who insured Black churches in the '60's? Most of them? by the churches theirselves, killed members? Whew. What disney channel do you watch? historically comparing blacks to monkeys has been a racist, I do not see how this cannot be the same thing even if CG is cute. Is it the most offensive thing, no. But it is offensive, Why not just make some BO 08 shirts?

tracydolls, please give support to your claim that the government of the USA burned down black Churches? When the 16 th aVe Church burned in Ala. what did the state and local gov't do? That is what I am asking as you claim they burned the churches, and I say you are wrong. quote:

And one thing we need to remember is that Obama is not black. He's not? He's darker than me. Wow, I need some glasses? No, Obama is not black, he is mullato: which is 50/50 caucasion and negroid mix, as one of his parents was white, the other black. Thanks RC

Julius thank you, I have a rare nice moment Now, my husband would not give up his NC Tarheels, for no one, I am afraid. I did grieve the Spirit of God, with my intent trying to offend sister Margie. If we do something with that intent, that is what we do, grieve the Holy Spirit. I will not give up my bling, unless God really ask me, and I do not think he will. I dress modestly, just like looking and smelling nice. I was thinking what is the difference really between you and I? besides your male and I am a female, We all have the same organs, besides gender, we all put our drawers on the same way. your probaly smarter in some ways, me in others. We love Jesus, and our Children, and others. I know blacks were, and are treated badly, there will always be wicked people, even in the church. I just want to be set apart, I want to shine, for the Lord. I used to hack my mom, MIL, off about Bill Clinton all the time, it is not Obamas color, it is his polocies. I hope I can accept and be in prayer for him, with out grieving the Holy Spirit, if he is our president. I pray daily for you son, and daughter. I do not know why the daughter, maybe it is because I have three, they are a handful. quote:

Great testimony! It's great to know as children of God, that even when pride and selfishness rule our heads, the Holy Spirit rules our hearts. - Julius

Your welcome, I will be in deep prayer, let me know what happens. The Lord works in mysterious ways. I am sorry you and daughter, and son, are going through this, it must be so much stress, and worry. God is able though. quote:

the american gov't particpated in slavery, jim crow, and the burning of Churches. That's what I said, PARTICIPATED in. by not sending fire trucks, investigating who did it, those types of things. quote:
