And have any of you ever had a southern Gospel group or soloist sing one of your songs?

I have written several recently and perform them myself but have not yet had anyone else ask to sing them.[sm=icon_smile_sing.gif]

NEWNAMEGIRL -> RE: How many here are songwriters? (5/15/2008 2:17:46 PM)

I have wrote a few songs, but I doubt they are good enough to have anyone record...:( I started by writting in my journal some poetry and things like that. Maybe someday somebody will record them. That would be so neat. hehehehe

GVfan -> RE: How many here are songwriters? (5/15/2008 2:23:52 PM)

Gerald Wolfe has said during concerts that he has "written songs that you will never hear." [:D]

NEWNAMEGIRL -> RE: How many here are songwriters? (5/15/2008 2:30:46 PM)

LoL... That is funny! He doesnt need to write when he's got the best fast song writer of all time on his bus!!!! I love Rodney he is so cute too!!! :)

pauljackson -> RE: How many here are songwriters? (5/15/2008 2:33:54 PM)

written a song or two...pj

GospelProducer -> RE: How many here are songwriters? (5/15/2008 3:11:56 PM)

There are some amazing songwriters out there, some of whom you never heard of, and probably never will. There's hardly a week goes by that I don't get at least one CD with original songs from someone trying to get their songs recorded. Some are FANTASTIC others are ok. It's hard to tell someone that their song won't cut it when they have put a large part of themselves into the song. While it might be very special to the writer, it has to work fo rme and the artist or it's just taking up space on a project. Brutal? yes..but its a fact. Not all songs that a writer is inspired to write is made to be recorded, some songs are therapy for the writer I believe.

querty -> RE: How many here are songwriters? (5/15/2008 8:59:44 PM)

We're always looking for straight up quartet songs, even though we probably wont get you anywhere.

GospelProducer -> RE: How many here are songwriters? (5/15/2008 9:40:46 PM)

I'll be happy to go back through some of the CD's and see what's good and get them to you. I'm not worried about you all "getting me anywhere" if its a good song then someone needs to be singing it, not laying in my filing cabinet.

Kerrlaw -> RE: How many here are songwriters? (5/15/2008 9:42:25 PM)

I have written exactly one song.

I wrote it as I drove over the mountain from Asheville, NC to TN (moving back to my birthplace in TN).

It was about the little country church that I was raised in.

A good friend who is a professional singer (and who has recorded SG albums) recorded it. Unfortunately, he set my moving ballad to a bluegrass beat (have I mentioned how much I dislike bluegrass), which turned me against the show business, and I never wrote another song.[sm=shakinghead.gif]

It wasn't too bad. I still have a couple of tapes and play it occasionally.

JETTY -> RE: How many here are songwriters? (5/15/2008 10:23:56 PM)

I have written many songs and I sing some of them at my church. I really have no idea what to do with them, although some people from other churches have told me I should record them.??? I think you have to have an agent for that don't you? Anyways, I love writing and would love it if those songs could be a blessing to others as well. God gave them to me for a reason, therapy maybe, but a definate time of communion with God! If an author writes a book, he hopes someone will pull it off the shelf and read it. If a songwriter writes a song, he hopes someone will hear it![sm=note.gif]

dbmurray -> RE: How many here are songwriters? (5/15/2008 11:03:25 PM)

I've heard that one of Daniel Mount's songs will be on the new Prophets CD...if it ever sees the light of day. [:D]

TQ_Fan_4_Life -> RE: How many here are songwriters? (5/15/2008 11:21:47 PM)

written a few in my time. one day my group will be performing them live. and Kerrlaw, being one of the biggest Bluegrass fans around, would love to hear that song

steelcitylead -> RE: How many here are songwriters? (5/15/2008 11:39:28 PM)

I too have written a few songs. Several quartets that I have sang with have performed them live. I just never go any further than that.

PawPaw -> RE: How many here are songwriters? (5/16/2008 1:28:33 AM)

I've had some of my songs published through two different publishers but only one recorded at this point. It was co-written with a friend of mine and recorded by the Dixie Echoes. It charted at #52 on Singing News Chart. "Tree of Life." It was also recorded by country/bluegrass singer Joe Paul Nichols who performs at Grand Old Opry.

Come on DBM! Lighten up a little...VIP copies of the Cd will be available within two weeks. Eddie Crook recently hand delivered the "pieces" to the fabricator. That came directly from him to me. (retail dis will be a little later) Check out The Prophets thread in this forum. I think i emailed you some of the details yesterday,...and yes! Daniel and I collaborated on a tune that features Mike and Bill. Turned out well. D Mount and I have another song that should get done soon. Daniel has some neat ideas. He also has completed an excellent song that we wil be pitching soon. I am enjoying working with him and his ideas.

Any other aspiring witers out there?

Don't know about aspiring, but we've recorded one song I wrote and I have a couple more in my head - maybe I'll get them finished for the next project. We'll see!

wdburke -> RE: How many here are songwriters? (5/16/2008 9:58:46 AM)

I've written several, had one recorded by a group called CrossBridge Quartet from MS. They cut my song "I Found Mercy." A review of the CD with a brief mention of my song is here. Last I heard, the Gospel Harmony Boys were working on it as well.

Sounds like a good song Wes! Here's a page with a sound clip of your song:

"Pieces?" Well, there's your hold-up right there...these days, most groups put everything in order on one CD before they send it to the replicator. They don't expect them "piece it" together. [:D]

lcharles -> RE: How many here are songwriters? (5/16/2008 11:20:31 AM)

I've written probably 100 songs.

we have recorded most of them.

I never really tried to get my songs to anyone else. We just sang them until a preacher friend took one of my songs to a major group and they recorded it, and it was nominated for song of the year in 2006 .

I have since had other songs recorded by smaller groups and got a call from a group the other day wanting to record a new song that I have just written.

To God be the glory.

Teriffic! That's wonderful. What's the name of the song?

Brother Fletcher is an awesome song writer. I just received his family's latest CD and there are several gems on it!

PIECES = 1. a totally mastered audio source 2. all finished art/design work 3.full instructions as to how to assemble the final product (what type of packaging, disc, etc).

Yeh...pieces, parts, elements..."everything in order on one CD...", is just one PIECE (the main piece) of what it takes to finish a product.

Sorry my term was hard to follow.
