[sm=sadquestion.gif]How often does your man carry your purse while you are shopping for,say,clothes?Will he do it ?How does this speak of his manliness?

artemis -> RE: Manliness (5/15/2008 8:25:17 PM)

Never. I would never ever ever bring him shopping with me. It wouldn't be fun for either of us [;)]

phosadaud -> RE: Manliness (5/15/2008 8:47:24 PM)

I don't have a man, but manly men to me are ones who care more about helping others out than they are about random strangers thinking a purse makes them less manly... To me, that isn't very manly...

FolkSingerBlues -> RE: Manliness (5/15/2008 8:55:21 PM)

lol...that's funny Kristin....

Are you kidding? When I go shopping I try not to carry one. I need the free hand and don't like over the shoulder bags!
But *if* he came with me, he is confident enough in himself I believe he would.

I agree. Manly men are secure enough with their own identity they think nothing of what others may think of them.

I don't know.... lol.... I've never asked him to carry my purse.... but, then again, we don't shop together (except at the grocery store)...

miasma -> RE: Manliness (5/16/2008 2:37:55 PM)

I do not carry a purse.

On the off chance I've had a bag or parcel of some sort, he would have no problem holding it for me, just as I would have no problem lending him a hand as I could.

car2ner -> RE: Manliness (5/16/2008 3:15:45 PM)

Egads, clothes shopping??? with me??? He had to make me go clothes shopping last time. After listening to all of my excuses why nothing in the mall was appealing, he sat out in the hallway and smiled as he told me to go find something.

So did he hold my purse? Nah. He is my hunk and quite manly even if he did hold it.

Tinkerbell_ -> RE: Manliness (5/16/2008 3:43:14 PM)

Hmmm...well, seeing as how the only "men" in my life are 11 and 8, they think it's an insult to their manhood to carry mum's purse.

However my best guy friend will do it if it means I'm actually *gasp* clothes shopping.

fluffmonkey -> RE: Manliness (5/16/2008 7:20:35 PM)

He would hold it for me but Ive never made him carry it for me, only shopping bags...^_- we go shopping sometimes togther... but its usually for things other then clothes...but sometimes we do...not often though... but I like shopping with out him sometimes because he is always ready to leave w.e. place we are at lol and I want to actually take time to look at stuff

ex-prodigal -> RE: Manliness (5/16/2008 8:52:16 PM)

[:)]By the way,I hope this didn't sound like I have an issue with this.I carry my wife's purse a lot,but I know a lot of men seem to be 'spooked'by things like this.Buying women's 'personal' things seems to terrify men.

Ps103 -> RE: Manliness (5/17/2008 2:36:41 PM)

Since it does not go with his outfits, I am pretty sure that anytime Himself has held my bag no one thought it was his...

WaitingforBoaz -> RE: Manliness (5/17/2008 5:03:02 PM)

My husband carried my purse all the time. He never minded at all. He could not have looked unmanly if he tried. [:)]

I do carry a purse, but I don't let him hold it. However, he doesn't mind clothes shopping with me.

I agree with miasma though, he usually offers to hold parcels/bags, especially if it's heavy, but I have no problem lending a hand, to hold the light stuff [:)], if it's necessary.

_MavericK_ -> RE: Manliness (5/18/2008 10:57:07 PM)

This thread made me think about manliness in relation to purse-holding, so I put my best bud to the test, poor fella.

But he passed. He went aaaaaalll the way out to his truck to get it for me. I was so proud.[:D]

Tinkerbell_ -> RE: Manliness (5/19/2008 2:20:59 PM)

Oooh! Good idea! I'll have to try that!!!! [:)]

Hislittleone -> RE: Manliness (5/19/2008 3:45:35 PM)

My husband carries my purse sometimes while we're at the mall or grocery store. He doesn't mind helping me out and I surely appreciate it when he does. He's a very "manly man", btw. No way could anything make him seem less manly. [:D]

A man who refuses to help out a lady by carrying something that's generally considered feminine comes across as lacking self-confidence, IMO.
