Here's one the quirky organizers might appreciate. I'm organizing my sheet music tonight (yea! grad school's over!). I'm ordering the music alphabetically. However I'm categorizing the music based upon reason for usage. I do something similar with my books--arranged by genre yet alphabetical within the category. My music, however, must be arranged collectively and alphabetically (albeit with separate sections for vinyl, CD's, tapes). For the artists that I have multiple albums, I order the records by release date, oldest to most recent. I do the same with sheet music and books. However, with recorded music I do not do that. Well, except for our concert recordings - I do keep those separate. And Christmas music is separate. Everything else has no rhyme or reason to it.

My most comprehensive quirk is my planner. I have used the same system for 30 years. I have added a software program to it, but it is a hard copy that I carry with me at all times. I have my task lists divided into categories, about 35 of them.

Here's one... Sometimes when leaving my apartment/car/office I'll forget if I closed/locked the door or not. Despite the fact that I've yet to not do it, I have to go back and check and make sure. And what's worse is, on some occasions I've gone back to check, got distracted, and as I'm walking away realize I still don't know whether I locked it! (Which, of course, necessitates going back again!) Oh, and here's another one. If I start playing solitaire (on the computer that is), I can not stop until I win a game. I've lost whole afternoons that way. Thankfully I've learned to just not start playing in the first place. Ok, now that I've probably revealed some deep-seated psychological disorder, I'm going to go now... -Robb

ORIGINAL: LabGuy Oh, and here's another one. If I start playing solitaire (on the computer that is), I can not stop until I win a game. I have something similar to this. I have a basketball hoop in my back yard, and when I go out there to shoot around, when I am about to be finished, I can only stop on a made basket. So if I say, ok last shot, if I miss, I have to shoot again, until I make one. Worse yet, if I miss a few in a row, I have to hit 2 or 3 before I will finally stop. So think about that one for a second.

How's this- I'm a light sleeper in the morning....my cellphone is my alarm and I have a soft song at the quietest setting and it's enough to wake me up. However, I'm extremely groggy and incoherent for the first two hours I am awake. Oh, and on the weekends when I am allowed to sleep in, I can't sleep in past 7:30am. GAHH.

When eating Smarties I eat them 3 at a time, other than that I don't pay much attention to how many of anything I eat, but if you were to ask me, I would say I like even numbers better than odd ones.

More quirks. I wear flip flops year round. Even if it's freezing outside, I'm happy in flip flops. Mom's lectures did no good on me now that I'm an adult. I'm extremely competitive at games I have a chance of winning. If I know it's something I'll never win (ie. volleyball, trivial pursuit), I only give half an effort. Last week I worked at three different jobs. I don't like to sleep in an empty house. One of my most prized possessions is FRED, my knight in shining armor. When I purged all of my furniture and most of my belongings after graduating from seminary last year, I moved only what I could fit into my small SUV. Fred had top priority and despite taking up a good portion of my space, I couldn't bear to part with him.

Tina - where did you move to? and how tall is Fred? I moved to FL, then back to TX. I was a human boomerang because I ended up within 15 miles of where I started. Hahaha. And Fred's lone fault is that he is a little short in stature. Probably about 5 ft tall.

When browsing through a magazine. I go from back to front. If I intend to read it, I will start at the front though.

Flip flops year around isn't a quirk - that's a Florida/Texas - southeast thing. It's a necessity with the heat. Even in the winter when it's cold out - during the day it'll still be warm enough for them, so they are appropriate at all times. Winter in FL - jeans, sweater, flip flops. And they don't have to just be the ones between your toes - anything that is a slip on qualifies in this respect. But I love true flip flops! LIVED in them for the first 12 years of my life.
