quote:
You should spend some time researching interpretations of revelations. The most commonly accepted and supported interpretation is that it is a symbolic account of historical events... in a time when simply being a Christian would get you killed. It was symbolic subterfuge in order to escape persecution. Unfortunately, the charlatan televangelists love to promote the end-times prophetic view, because nothing brings in viewers, ratings, and donations like a little end-times paranoid fear mongering. And its easy to do, as the archaic symbolism in revelations is notoriously hard to understand. It was written in a manner the people of that time would be able to understand, but the meaning of the symbolism doesn't really make much sense unless one has spent quite a lot of time researching that period. you got any sites? I did a quick search " revelations not prophetic" most sites that popped up were about them being prophetic. I don't watch TV whatever they are. I did study about John, Patmos, the Romans, etc, etc. It is the most common held belief?
