Beck34 -> When to visit the doctor (5/25/2008 1:49:18 AM)

I am having some difficulty with my periods. I had a tubal done in 2006, and I have been irregular every since. Now, I have this foul odor that comes every time I have my cycle and douching is not helping. Any advise? I don't really know any doctors in my area, and I am scared that something might really be wrong.

It is time to be seen by a physician.

Ask acquaintances or friends.

You can also call your local "Ask a Nurse" service, if your area has one. There you can get a lead on a reputable doctor.

And in the meantime.... quit douching. You may be further upsetting the nature balance of good and bad bacteria.

I hope you feel better soon.

I agree that you need to see a doctor and stop douching.

Yup, it's doctor time!

Definitely time to see the doctor...and again STOP DOUCHING....

I don't know why women think they need to douche...it really does not help anything and in fact is often the cause of many health issues in our tender areas. I know it used to be the norm....but almost all doctors recommend against it now. They really need to stop selling the stuff for it.

I will set up an appointment next week. I hope that it isn't a sign of cancer again..... I have already been through it twice! I have been in remission for over five years.

I will be praying for you that it isn't cancer and that it is something that can be easily and quickly resolved.

Been there twice myself. I'll keep you in prayer.

Douching can probably be okay if you watch how much you do it. I'd rather make the solution myself to match my own pH so to minimize the upset, IF you must do it. I understand that not all vaginas are well at self-cleaning (mine isn't, so I have to find other ways to do it by hand). I'd get to a doctor as soon as you can though. I can't imagine it being anything good (although it might not be serious).

I have an appointment next week with someone that my regular physician recommended. I have so much to do! The doctor that I am going to called in this stuff for me to use, and it is helping a little bit. Thanks for the prayers!

I am glad that you are seeing a physician...praying all is well with you!

I am facing a hysterectomy because I have tumours in my uterus. They are not sure if it is cancer or not. Just goes to show that you should always get your yearly exam....I almost waited too late.

Ellie-Mae -> RE: When to visit the doctor (6/8/2008 10:47:30 AM)

are they going to remove your ovaries as well as your uterus. I am glad that you went to the doctor.

Beck34 -> RE: When to visit the doctor (6/8/2008 3:26:46 PM)

They are taking out all of it. They don't want to take a chance that it might spread to other parts of my body. I am scared [:(], but I know that Gods grace will cover me.[8|]

W.O.F. -> RE: When to visit the doctor (6/9/2008 9:24:55 PM)

I will be praying for you to have peace and for the results to be good and clean. I am glad that you saw the doctor and got some help.

Thank you for your prayers. Surgery has been postponed due to insurance problems. I am hoping to schedule it soon though.

solo_soprano22 -> RE: When to visit the doctor (6/15/2008 2:13:42 PM)

I'm sorry. I've needed surgery before and insurance didn't want to cover it... then it got to where it HAD to be done. [8|] It seems like they'd want to cover it before it turns into an emergency situation.

Beck34 -> RE: When to visit the doctor (6/16/2008 2:13:54 AM)

I know! The problem we are having is that he has switched jobs, but the insurance carrier is the same. They want to label it as a pre-existing condition since he switched companies, and now, I have to wait six months or the operation. Ladies, I urge you not to put off going to the doctor because something like this may happen to you!

solo_soprano22 -> RE: When to visit the doctor (6/16/2008 1:40:19 PM)

I was thinking back to bioethics some time ago. I think most of us here have insurance, even if we have difficulty with it. I remember studying medical problems that needed urgent attention, but the point of studying the way we were made to was to note the differences. So person A would be having a heart attack, but he was middle class or wealthy and had good insurance and life resources; person B was on a lower level and had okay insurance..moderate life resources; person C had no insurance or very bad insurance, probably lived in the projects and had no resources. These are real cases, but in all of them you can see how social class affects so many things that people probably wouldn't normally think about. Sometimes I start thinking about if I had the BEST insurance there was...I'd have it made (in some ways). Lol. I know a lot of women with problems can't get to a doctor...or can go and have no way to pay. In a year or so I won't have health insurance anymore, and with my health issues it's scary to think about.

Yeah, I know a lot of people are against the way some other countries have their health insurance/system... but I'd rather it be the way it is in some other places around the world. [8|] I think we have one of the worst healthcare systems of all the countries that are "wealthy."

I remember there was a doctor from another country... not sure if it was Britain or not, but somewhere where there's a better healthcare system. He came to the states on "vacation" and had a heart attack; he was in the hospital for four days and his bill was $65,000+ dollars... He said he was appalled that things are that way here as compared to his country. [sm=icon_smile_yikes.gif] He looked as if he was about to have a heart attack over that. [8|]
