today's devotion...... The Blessing of Giving Acts 20:35 In everything I did, I showed that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Giving is not always easy for me, is it for you? These ancient words from Acts are very difficult for this mind to comprehend. How can I be more blessed when I give than when I get? I am a girl, and in all honesty, I love to get stuff. I must confess when God calls me to give; I don't feel like I am being blessed. Perhaps you have had similar experiences. The Lord prompts you to prepare a meal for a family who has been struck with an illness and after a long day at work, you are barely able to get yourself together enough to prepare a meal for your own family. Or maybe when you are physically exhausted and put out with your kids, He nudges you to go get your friend's children because she needs a break. No matter what the situation, when God calls us to give, we must obey and though it doesn't seem like something we want to do at the time, we come out on the other side of obedience being blessed. I can't explain exactly how it works, I just know that it does. The Lord tells us through the prophet Isaiah that His ways and thoughts are higher than our ways and thoughts. In other words, He knows better. He sees the big picture. He has the master plan written and the only thing we need to be concerned with is doing what He asks of us, without compliant. The meal He asks you to fix may interrupt or inconvenience your plan. You may want to question His reasoning when the Holy Spirit nudges you to take your rude co-worker out to lunch. You may be baffled by His suggestion to teach your child's Sunday School class so the regular teacher can have a break. Whatever our thought process may be at time, the bottom line is this: our decision whether we think it does or not, has eternal meaning. It means something to our eternity and to the person we are to give something to, or do something for. Without Jesus in my heart, I would not have the ability to give to others. Basically, I am a selfish person. I remember reading today's key verse wondering, "What kind of blessing will I get for doing for others? Will it be money, a new car, or a finer home?" I am ashamed of those thoughts but they came from an infant Christian who did not understand the blessing one receives is a closer and more intimate walk with the greatest Giver who ever lived. I thankfully receive that blessing now. Are you currently receiving blessings by being the giver that the Lord wants you to be? Lord, I need You to help me be the giver I should be. It's hard for me, but Your Word says nothing is impossible for You. So Lord, will You please help me? Allow me to see the fruit of my obedience...and grow in me the desire to do even more. I can't wait to receive and enjoy my blessing for giving: a closer walk with You! Thank You for every blessing You give me. I praise you for always being the loving, giving Father that You are. All these things I pray in Jesus' name...amen.

ORIGINAL: kj88il i have been satisfactorily chastised....and i offer profuse apologies, ladies. i'm not used to anyone really caring if i 'drop out' for a while. it makes me feel all warm & fuzzy, tho, that y'all did. thanks, my friends! but now.......can someone plz give me the official translation for DD, DS, etc?? is it 'dear'? cuz around here we sometimes say 'daughter dear'...but then that doesnt work for DS. i'm confuseded!! y'all have a good day, now!!! If I'm not mistaken it is for darling........DD-darling daughter.......DS-darling son.........now I know Ms Esther uses DDH-dearly departed husband as well.........hope that helps! *snort*...Jeannie, what's funny is that I think of it as Dear Dead Husband. It's not morbid for me, it's kinda funny. Whatever. I'm nuts. Ok, ok...I'm remembering now where it came from. No wonder it's funny. My DDH's best friend used to talk about his uncle as "Dead Uncle D....". The reason he did that was because he had another Uncle D.... So he used it to discriminate between the two. So there, my dear dead husband. If you're listening, you're own best friend named you, and you will appreciate that. shallbe

today's devotion.... Worthy Words Jer 15:19 …if you utter worthy, not worthless, words, you will be My spokesperson. Worthy words. Wow. In this passage of scripture, God was urging Jeremiah to repent so that God could restore him, and thus he could serve God again. This particular verse of God’s spoken word to Jeremiah really penetrated my heart as I read it recently. Worthy, valuable, precious words. Words that honor Him and words that are encouraging, founded in His truth and love. He gives words their worth. Our God allows us to be His spokesperson. How humbling. In His wisdom, He requires that, in order to be His spokesperson, our words must be worthy, not worthless. The King James Version says “precious” words. What an excellent, ageless standard He sets for us to maintain as His children in order that we could be His spokesperson. A spokesperson is someone who represents you and your character well. As this verse resonates in my heart, I ask myself, “Are my words worthy and precious? Am I representing God well and with excellence? Am I allowing Him to mold me so I reflect His character? Am I keeping the bar raised to His standard such that I may be His spokesperson?” In our home, our rule has been that our words should be based in truth, spoken in love, necessary and kind. Add to this that they must be worthy and precious. How often do I utter words that are worthless and hold no value for anyone? Oh, how I think of the words I have wasted. If my words hold value and worth, they will reflect His character and minister His truth and grace to those around me. If I keep His standards and utter only worthy and precious words, He allows me to represent Him and be His spokesperson. What an awesome privilege and responsibility. As you go through each day, allow your words, whether they be written, spoken or thought, to go through His filter of requiring worthy, precious words. If those around you have lowered the bar, raise it again to His standard. Humbly meet the challenge to utter only worthy words that represent Him well. You may be His spokesperson. Ps 19:14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. Prov 10;11 The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life… Prov 10:21 The lips of the righteous nourish many… Col 4:6 Let your conversation always be full of grace, seasoned with salt… Rom 8:6 …the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace... Lord, by Your grace and in Your faithfulness, allow my words to be worthy and precious. May they be worthy so that I may be Your spokesperson, and represent you with excellence. Remind me...and help me to be concious of what I say today. Remind me that what I say realy does matter and can have more influence than I can imagine. Help to to not take that responsibility lightly, Lord. Help me to think first...and not just blurt out everything that comes to mind. Be my filter, Lord. Thank You for Your standards and for Your promises. All these things I pray...in Jesus' name...amen.

today's devotion...... He Prays for Me! Luke 22:31-32 And the Lord said, "Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.” One time while I was going through a serious trial in my life, I felt as if I were all alone. I felt discouraged and powerless. I would spend hours every day in prayer for everyone else and their situations, asking God to intervene on their behalf, and yet I wondered who was praying for me. Was there anyone out there who cared enough about me and my suffering to bring it before God and beg Him to touch my life? Was there anyone who shared with the Lord that I was hurting? Shortly after that God encouraged me through His Word, and through today’s verse, that His Son Jesus does care for me and prays for me faithfully. I wonder what would have happened to Peter after he denied Christ if Jesus had not previously prayed for him? Would he have turned to the world, denying Jesus for eternity? Only God knows the answer. But the good news is God would not have it happen. Instead, God heard the prayers of Jesus for Peter. Therefore, after denying the Lord three times, Peter wept, repented, and drew near to God. Jesus prays for me as well. He intercedes on my behalf. He knows what is set before me and desires that my faith in Him will not fail. He prays that I will have the strength to keep my eyes on Him, never straying too far behind, and that I will stay close to His side. Jesus is my prayer partner. I am indebted to the Lord for He is at all times working on my behalf. He is my High Priest, mediating between me and God. Because of Jesus, I am made strong when I am weak. Because of Jesus’ faithfulness to me, I have experienced what joy feels like! Jesus prays for you as well. He understands that Satan wishes to sift you like wheat. Do not despair, Jesus has prayed for you! He desires to wipe the tears from your cheek and replace it with the joy that faithfulness brings. When you feel all alone and like the world has forgotten you, when you feel as if you can continue no longer, do not fret—the Savior is there praying for you! His Father always hears His prayers. They will strengthen you, and then in turn, you can help strengthen others Hebrews 7:25 Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. Jesus, sometimes I feel all alone and worn out...as if I have no strength left within me. Yet, I will seek You in prayer. I will make my request known before You, for I know You are there for me...interceding on my behalf. You know what is before me and what I need. Give me strength when it feels as if Satan is trying to sift me like wheat. Create within my heart faithfulness and steadfastness. Thank You for praying for me, for taking my request to the Father so, through You, I may gain strength. I praise You, Lord...for You are faithful and all-powerful. It comforts me to know You speak to the Father on my behalf. Make me worthy, Jesus. All these things I pray...in Your name...amen.

Hey Kimberly; I gots a question. Or two. 1) What does it take to get a CDL? 2) Why is there so much turnover in jobs requiring CDL? There are a LOT Of jobs available here that require a CDL, and they are there all the time! If it's not too hard to get the CDL, and if the job is something I can do, not too hard physically and all, I'm thinking about getting mine so that I can have a for sure job when I get done with school. shallbe

(don't get me started on this!) there is also a constant movement due to $ (usually paid CPM = cents per mi for OTR = over the road/long-haul, and hourly for local/regional drivers). basically....if you have a CDL you will RARELY be out of a job for long...if at all(unless you just don't WANT to work). (my ex used to switch companies at the drop of a hat when we owned our own truck. if we had pay issues, or they refused to pay 'standard' rates cuz they were having financial problems, or made him sit too long waiting for the next load...we could have a new lease in a matter of days and never miss a paycheck!) it's incredible the opportunities available. you could drive a truck in your own town and need a CDL and never ever drive a semi......or you can hire on with a big conglomerate and be transferred around the world wherever you wanted to go. you can work part-time at some companies and make a better income than most people you know. you can work seasonally (we have a lot of corn haulers etc around here that just drive during harvest season). just FYI...as a 1st year driver i made over twice what i make in this office job. (and it's killing me). hope that answered some of your questions. lemme know (or email me at mwnlu@yahoo.com) if you have more.
