today's devotion...
The Weight of Waiting
God knows me. He is well aware of my weaknesses. So He calls me to His workout room were my weights are actually waits. “Here lift these. When you have completed this exercise, you will emerge a stronger woman.”
So I begin to “strength train” with the waits in my life.
I’ve discovered that waiting isn’t a waste of time, but an opportunity to grow my character. When the wait feels impossible I try to focus on building patience and my relationship with Jesus, rather than fretting. I spend a lot of time in God’s wait room. Next time you find yourself there, remember that God provides the ability to endure when we willingly yield to His strength training process.
Psalm 5:3 In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; …I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.
Isaiah 49:23 b, “Those who wait for me shall not be put to shame.” (ESV)
Romans 15:4 ...the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled. (NLT)
this was especially poignant to me for a couple reasons...1) my ex-man is a football coach. we would often associate things in life to coaching, and 2) i am really trying to wait patiently upon the Lord as i look for a new job, try not to fret about finances, and now wondering what may be in store with this new man i've 'met.'
anyone who knows me well, they will tell you i make quick decisions. i'm not one of those 'gee...should i?" or "i dunno what i want" types. i'm a "let's try this...and if that's not good...we'll adjust and try something different!" and my kids will tell you i am DEFINITELY not a patient 'wait in this line' kinda gal. lol but i TRY!!! i take a book to the doctor's office now. or i check my little notebook i keep in my purse and try to be productive. i know i could do better...but God's patient. so i'll just keep turning it over to him.
but this morning is a prime example. when i was getting my work comp checks a couple month's ago...they always arrived on tuesdays. one of the first things i thot this mnorning was "gotta go to the post office and see if there's a check!" not that i desperately need it TODAY...i just want to cross it off my list and not have to think about it this week. lol
thank You, Lord...for speaking to my heart today. for calling me on something i continue to struggle with on a deeply personal level. make me more patient...just starting with today. help me realize what i need to be doing...and what i need to trust You to do. these things i pray in Jesus' name...amen.

wow.......i'm feeling really discombobulated today. i was already feeling a little down...then i got online here and find that so many of my friends are really struggling, too. guess it's gonna be a pray-a-thousand-times kind of day! 
but ya know what just hit me? i've been reading, and praying...but not once have i called satan out! and God gives us power for a reason, doesn't He? so right now....i'm doing it!
satan...you want us to THINK you have power over us. you want us to wallow and worry. but you have NO power over me...or my friends!! God is so much bigger than you. and we claim all His promises...of comfort, and peace, and wisdom. i will not tolerate your planting negative thoughts in my heart, or in my friend's hearts. God has been waiting patiently for us to call on Him...and i call on him now...for myself...and on behalf of all my friends here. matthew 18:20 tell us "for where two or three are gathered together in My name, there am I in the midst of them." i believe that applies here, online, too. so get thee behind us...your time here is up!!! 
ps 118:24 this is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
i hope y'all will join me in some PMA (positive mental attitude). right now...i'm deciding to only focus on the good God is bringing me today. and if a negative thought does creep into my mind...i will immediately replace it with a quick little prayer of thankgsiving and praise! it is impossible to think two thoughts at one time....so i'm taking control of my thoughts...and focusing on God's positives. i am a wonderous, blessed, strong child of God...and i'm gonna start acting like it!
