From Dallas to L.A. for a two-week-long college summer program for prospective students. I was 16. Every single time I have flown, it's been by myself. I'm looking forward to flying somewhere *with* someone, someday!

I flew last year for the first time. We went from Charlotte-Douglas International to Kansas City International with a layover in at Washington-Dulles.

In 1967 I flew from Tennessee to Los Angeles. I was so sick when I got there, they just about had to carry me off. I very seldom fly, but if I have to, I get the ear patches!!

It was either Puerto Rico or Mexico. I'm not sure. I was only 4 years old.

My first plane ride was a mission trip to South Africa when I was 19 years old. The airline asked a bunch of questions, one of which was whether or not I'd ever flown before. When I said no they marked my ticket "first rider" and allowed me to board early with other passengers with special needs. I thought that was kind of unneccesary because I could see very well what I was supposed to do and didn't really need any extra guidance, but they said for me to go ahead, so I went.

If they'd had non-stops from Dallas to Europe back then, my first plane ride would have been to Rome. But we had to go to NYC first. I'll never forget getting off the plane in Italy and seeing soldiers standing guard with machine guns. These were the days right before passengers boarding in the U.S. had to go through metal detectors, so it was a shocker to see armed guards as we passed through customs.

I flew to Las Vegas in the 1980s. Had to fly on little planes a few times on business in the 90's. With any luck I will never be in an airplane again.

You mean those planes you wear while you're flyin' in 'em? I DO NOT like those things -- especially when going over the mountains.

I was 15, we went from Detroit to Dallas, and on to Brownsville, TX for a missions trip to Matamoras, Mexico. I went on several missions and a class trip after that. My first plane ride with a friend or family member wasn't until I was 22.

My first plane ride was in a small floatplane. My buddy in High School arranged for his uncle to take me up for my birthday. We flew over the woods and lakes of the North Country and circled my house a couple of times. My last plane ride was also a birthday/Father's day gift. I got to fly in a B-17 at an air show. Now if I could just cadge a ride in a P-38 Lightning, my "bucket list" will be nearly complete.
