For all of the youtube/video posting site fans-

I know alot on here (and i have posted a vid once or twice) will go to a concert and film a few minutes of a song or concert. Have any of you who do this regularly had any feedback from the artists? Do they like the fans to do it? Do they believe it helps promote the ministry?

I know personally that i have discovered artists i like through youtube, just by watching the clips. Soul'd Out to just name one And also, i've been able to see some really great groups or parts of events that i wouldn't have been able to attend otherwise.

I usually at least mention to any artists when I have taken videos that I will be placing the good ones on youtube - and I usually e-mail the artists with the links after I have posted them - at least the first time I post. I always tell them if there are videos they want removed or descriptions that they want altered in any way, that I will be glad to do it. One of the groups which I do a bunch of videos for has told me they like the publicity!!!

Note: I do not place parts of copyrighted videos that the groups sell onto youtube - although it's obvious that a lot of people do. That's a violation of their terms of service but it isn't enforced unless artists complain. One particular artist has told me that he has no problem with people posting individual concert videos but has a BIG problem when people post things from off of the products they sell.

i know i love youtube!! however i'm not sure how much it helps the ministry, but i dont think it hurts it at all! me personally, i've learned ALOT about SG history just from watching youtube videos alone! there's a ton of older stuff on there, stuff that i would never see if wasn't for people putting their classic videos on youtube...i love it! and i love it when a fan puts a video of us on there...that means i don't have to do it[:D][:D][:D]

We have 5 videos on YouTube of our group that someone taped of us without our knowledge. It didn't bother us at all. Now, we're just a local / regional group so the "big names" might feel differently than we do but it has really been a great thing for us. We've heard from people all over the WORLD thanks to these videos that most likely never would've heard of us any other way. We've gotten emails and / or heard from Mark Lowry, Guy Penrod, Rick Goodman (Howard & Vestel's son), and several military folks stationed around the world, and others etc, etc....Again, chances are that those folks would've never heard of my family without these videos.

These videos have been viewed almost 12,000 times now! That just amazes me that 12,000 people have heard our music that may have never been able to make it to a concert or church service that we are in.
So, for us, we're VERY glad that someone posted these without our knowledge but I can only speak for my family.

I don't have any problem with fans putting you tube videos up of us...its actually kind of cool! You just hope it sounds good and people enjoy what they hear! Dinana has put SEVERAL of you tube videos up...it's always a joy to see her smiling face on the front row...[;)]

i wouldn't call it shameless self promotion...it's wanting people who can't be at the concert to be able to see what's goin on...and some of those vids are just for fun anyways lol

I love YouTube. I frequently search for various artists. I think it's GREAT publicity so long as "amateur" video is used. When someone puts on copyrighted material, that's just plain WRONG!

Bassinger, thats exactly the way my office looks. Orange from one side to the other. Thats the only thing I hate about the days I'm working in the studio, I miss my orange room.

I love YouTube. I put my videos on there. It has mostly been for my pleasure of remembering the concerts I attended. Now it seems the groups family members enjoy them as well. They can't attend as many concerts as they would like. It is not meant to be professional. If it was, that would leave me out. From the hits on the video's I think it is a good thing. If it helps with the ministry of the groups, then I say Praise the Lord!

Oh by the way, the groups are very gracious to me and encourage me to do as God leads.

I LOVE youtube. It has been a real blessing to my/our grandmother who has yet to see Harold! She will see him for the first time in September. I have also found many old favorites on there as well. So I say.....KEEP THOSE VIDEOS COMING[:D]

unsure how will be effecting SG but there was something about myspace/facebook and a few others all being joined as one. I wonder will youtube be added to that list.

youtube is awesome, it kept me going a lot while in Iraq. and if didnt know, some awesome awesome military videos on there too[:D][:)]

I have several videos of the Talleys up and a few of Hope's Call.
We told Hope's Call about it and they loved the fact that I did. They loved the promotion. Of course not they're not together anymore.

Talleys I never told them about it, but I was asked if I was hollywood02 a few weeks ago by Lauren. I thought she said Godtube so I said no because I'm heather84 on there. So after the confusion was cleared up that she said youtube she said you have them locked..which is a good thing, but not when the record company wants them for the new community site. haha.
She also respected that I have on there dont ask for mp3's of the song. I said you wouldnt believe how many people ask me for that. She said oh I believe it..they see what you have! I said well I tell them no..heres the site..this is the album its on..buy it. She said thanks and that they respected that.
So I have permission from the record company and them to do it just as long as its disabled. They DONT like it when its not disabled though and people can get it. A couple people hacked into my videos some how and got some of them then uploaded it as their own. I asked them very nicely to please take them off. One did...one didnt...after the second time asking I contacted youtube, but since I'm not an agent with crossroads I had to contact crossroads and they took care of it because those videos were open and not disabled. Thats what they dont like..they love the promotion though!

Oh good! *wipes sweat off brow* I posted some videos of the Booth Bros. a few weeks ago, some vids that I took. There was nothing degrading or otherwise negative on them, but I wasn't sure if they would mind. I sent them a link and told them if they wanted them off or changed in any way, I would do it. I also have a couple of Legacy Five I want to put up, but was unsure. Since it is amateur video, I'm sure L5 won't mind either. They are good (and funny!) videos![:)]
