Good evening! Well, I was so engrossed in my daily Bible reading today that I actually read part of tomorrow's reading. I'm finding it really easy to progress in the NIV. I'm up to the part where Jacob is fleeing from his father in law, Laban. I don't understand how those men had more than one wife! Hard to imagine the tension between the family members! The whole story of Jacob and Laban deceiving him and giving him Leah instead of Rachel, the one he really loved, is perplexing. Why did he do that? He explains that it is customary for the oldest girl to marry first; but why did he deceive him? The Old Testament is full of stories used as examples and lessons for us all; but I'll have to dig deeper to uncover that one. One interesting note I thought was ... Remember when Abram lied and said that Sarai was his sister because he was afraid for his life in the new country? (actually, he did it twice!) Well, Isaac did the same thing with Rebekah when he told King Abimelech she was his sister! I, again, never made that connection. (Talk about the sins of the fathers being handed down, huh?) It's interesting to note that Judah came from Leah. Of course, Jesus is called the Lion of the Tribe of Judah. Rachel was Joseph's mother. From Jacob and these two wives came the twelve tribes of Israel. Joseph is my favorite story in the Old Testament. It is so full of hope and symbolism. I also read Newt Gingrich's book, "Winning The Future" this afternoon. He wrote it in '05 and it is a book of ideas I think would benefit every American reading. I think he would've run for president if he had the backing. He is super smart and I love how articulate he is on the issues that matter. He was talking about the Iraq war and ideas for improvement, etc. He said, "Transformational wars always take time, and always mean overcoming setbacks. It took George Washington from 1776 to 1783 to win the Revolutionary War. It took Abraham Lincoln four years (1861 to 1864) to finally hit on a winning strategy to win the Civil War in 1865. And the Cold War lasted more than forty years." That takes me back to a previous point. We must study history to be able to sort out our present and future! It provides 20/20 vision for one thing; and for another, it provides a crucial balance of ideas. He talks about taking back our court system, where the courts are desperately out of touch with the average American and are legislating from the bench. He talks about putting God back into public life and outlines the monuments in D.C. that have Scripture inscribed on them, etc. All in all, I agreed totally with his ideas about topics ranging from immigration to foreign policy to the future of the United Nations to patriotic citizenship, etc. He served as Speaker of the House from 1994 to 1998. I'd highly recommend you checking it out from the library or buying it and passing it along. It's an easy read. If only he were on the ticket for November! Until later... Be blessed! Have a good one. ~Crazedmom "Wise words satisfy like a good meal; the right words bring satisfaction." Proverbs 18:20 NLT

Good Monday morning, friends! I trust you had a good weekend. We had some friends from church over yesterday for dinner and enjoyed their company very much. I called my Dad to wish him a "Happy Father's Day" earlier in the afternoon. While we were on the phone, his line was beeping. It was probably my brother calling to extend his wishes also. So, we quickly got off the phone as we had already been talking for some time. It's always nice to be remembered on special occasions, isn't it? Well, dd came home yesterday from her little trip. She had a great time. Today we have got to unpack her suitcase from her trip with my sister and now her backpack from her Girl Scout trip! She is at dance camp right now at a church nearby. It's only 2 1/2 hours each day, but I'm sure she'll have a good time. It was a gym full of kids when I dropped her off! I think I'm not the only parent looking to find activities for the kiddos! Our wedding anniversary is next week; and we'll celebrate 13 years of God's goodness! It hasn't been all mountain top experiences; but the one constant through it all is... God has been faithful! He has walked us through times we didn't think we could make it. He has provided for our every need. He has continued to lead and guide us, and caused us to "grow up" in Him! He has been the friend that sticks closer than a brother to us. We owe God everything we are, everything we have. It's all His. We are only caretakers, stewards of what He has entrusted us with. We continue on this journey of marriage partnership and Christian living knowing that God has taken care of our past (It's under the blood.); He's with us right now in our present situations and circumstances; and He has already gone before us into our future. Nothing will take God off guard. He's not sleeping; He doesn't have a headache, no bad days with Him. He is in ultimate control of our lives. In that we find peace and rest. The Word says that He is "The Alpha and Omega; the beginning and the end." Moses asked God in Exodus 3, "Whom shall I say sent me"? I love God's reply, "I am". That's so like God, isn't it? It's so like Him to far surpass our limited and finite understanding, and just give us a "God answer". God is not limited by time or space, like we are. He just always was, is, and always will be. I love the Lord today because of His great love. "His mercies are new everyday". I pray that you will have a day filled with God's goodness and His rich mercy. "Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life". (Psalm 23:6) Until later... Be blessed! ~Crazedmom

Good morning, friends! Well, dd and I unpacked her suitcase and made some sense of her room yesterday. I always feel better when I can walk in her room, rather than merely standing at the doorway because "stuff" is smeared all over the floor! Today, we'll attack ds's room, which has tiny Lego's everywhere, among other things. We've got to get our "Chore List" re-activated! I didn't do my daily Bible reading yesterday, so I have two day's worth to do today. My husband is already realizing that he won't be able to do it in 90 days; he said maybe he'll do it in 180 days. Either way, it'd be an accomplishment and worth the investment. We came to the consensus that if the Bible we're using was in cartoons, then he'd be able to do it in 90 days. Men are so visually oriented. The only drawback with that idea is the Bible would too thick to lug around. And, I haven't been back on my treadmill since the other day. Okay, I'm feeling better now. They say, "Confession is good for the soul", right? At any rate, right after I do my reading and throw dinner in the crock pot, I'm jumping on the treadmill (if it's the last thing I do!) I have a goal before my ds's wedding that even if I come close to, I'll be happy. I need to start looking for a dress to wear, right after I find out what color and style the bride's mother will be wearing. The wedding is in the evening, so I'll want it to be somewhat formal. I know my son will look so sharp in his tuxedo! He wants the kind that you can wear a regular neck tie with (vs. a bow tie). Apparantly, it's popular now. I just hope I will maintain some measure of composure during the ceremony! I got my dh a t-shirt for Father's Day that said, "Father - The Hardest Job You'll Ever Love". That is so true about parenting in general, isn't it?! They are in your heart from the moment of conception until well, forever! Even those who have lost children, they never stop thinking of them and loving them. Children have this way of yanking at our heart strings, and it doesn't matter how old they get. I was talking to a lady at church on Sunday and I mentioned that my "baby" will be 9 next month. She said her baby is 58 years old! Wow! She has two children and spoke of them with so much love. It doesn't matter how old one gets, your children are always on your mind and indellibly written on your heart. My oldest will be 20 this summer, but I can still remember the day he was born, his favorite toys, his accidents, he was afraid of clowns, when he didn't care about what he wore, him attending summer camps, and all the times we said the same things at the same time! Although it is every parent's aspiration to work themselves out of a job, that whole process has its difficulties. Gotta run for now. Until later... Be Blessed! ~Crazedmom "When I was a child, I spoke and thought as a child. But when I grew up, I put away childish things. Now we see things imperfectly as in a cloudy mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely. Three things will last forever - faith, hope and love - and the greatest of these is love." I Cor. 13:11-13 NLT

Good Wednesday morning, friends! It's "hump day", folks. You're closer to the weekend than you were on Monday!! I was just reading some "news" online and some headlines kind of catch your eye. Well, they're supposed to, right? There are two stories that are almost too goofy to be fact; but they are serious. (at least that's their intention) The first story was of a woman who is sueing an underwear maker because a piece of metallic something or other flew up and hit her in the eye when she was putting them on. The second story is of a college student who is sueing Disney World because they didn't hire him. He feels it was because of his turban and unkept hair. (which his religion requires, nonetheless). He's sueing for one million dollars for punitive damages. This brings me to another "soap box moment"... Why do people feel they can sue large companies because of some inherent right? Guess what? If they win a settlement, someone will pay. You know who that someone is? It is you and me, and the plantiffs themselves. Why? Because money is not free. It must come from somewhere. So, you don't think Disney or other companies charge enough for admission, products and services? Guess what? They will only increase with frivolous lawsuits like these. You know in years past, if you didn't like a particular product, you resolved never to buy it again and found something in its place, right? That is called logic. Something that seems to have been sucked out of the American legal system. If you didn't get a particular job, you kept on walking until you found something that suits you, right? It's called determination. These things are so basic that they're no longer basic... they're some ancient abstract way of thinking, apparently. It's like when people have a car accident and they immediately obtain a lawyer to milk the insurance company for all they can eke out. Guess who pays for the settlement you get? We all do, including the person receiving the settlement. My husband was an insurance adjuster for almost ten years, and became a supervisor. He dealt with countless attorneys that use high pressure tactics to get top dollar for their clients. Fortunately, he's a master negotiator and saved the company a lot of money generally. People just don't seem to understand that nothing is free. The money has to come from somewhere. Trial lawyers have become rich (aka John Edwards) at the expense of everyone else. If we keep sueing everyone for everything... we will continue seeing products and services at an inflated cost to the average American. I believe there should be limits on settlements. Now, some suits may be viable, but there are so many superfluous ones out there, they drown out the authentic ones. It reminds me of the old saying that goes like this: "Common sense is good sense; but good sense is not always common". ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Okay, I'm down off my soapbox... for now.... DD is at dance camp this a.m., so it's almost time to pick her up. Tonight I'm grilling some tilapia (fish) and we'll have veggie & rice. Have you had couscous? It's something new we're into now. My dh hates it. It's something like rice, but finer. I had some strips of steak and put them in the crock pot last night with some onions, worchestire sauce and other seasonings. It was so tender by dinner as it had been in since the a.m. We also had broccoli, pinto beans and couscous. The kids had corn too. Dh actually liked the pinto beans. I seasoned them good and he even wants them for lunch today. I'm really surprised because he doesn't normally like beans. Of course, dh didn't eat the couscous. He eats brown rice. He's Asian, so he eats rice with every meal. I don't eat it, though. After 13 years of marriage, I don't care to. I grew up on potatoes more so, I guess. But, he cannot live without rice! It's like oxygen to him. I have this George Foreman grill I got at Walmart, so I thought I might try putting the fish on there. We try to eat healthy. Dh has to have some blood work done soon and hopefully all will be normal. Dh came home yesterday and ate dinner; and then went out to mow the lawn before it got dark. Only one problem, the riding mower wouldn't start. While he was charging up the battery, he ran to the gas station to get gas for it. By the time he did all of this, it was dark. He was determined to get it done, though. So, there he was at 9:00p.m. mowing the lawn. It's a good thing he has headlights on the thing! He'll probably trim this weekend though. I was so happy to hear dh say that he and dd will go grocery shopping this Sat. It'll be their time out together, plus it'll be a productive time. A perfect match. Now, you have to understand, that I have always done the grocery shopping, which can be a lot of work. We usually try to stock up on things at Walmart and then go to another store for fresh produce, etc. This is usually done with both kids and much distraction; and never without a few fights between them. :) So, to have dh take care of this -- will be a load off. Our dd will make sure dh gets the "right stuff". It's always a little interesting when dh does go to the store for a few items, the things he comes home with! One of his last trips, he got about 10 bottles of ketsup because they were only $1. He got about 6 packages of kilbasa sausages, which we don't even eat. Those were buy one, get one free. It's always something a little unusual, to say the least. Whoever does marketing, must have him in mind. :) So, dd will be able to tell him what we actually do use. What will I spend my time doing on Saturday when they're gone, and it's just ds and I?? Well, hopefully reading a few books and relaxing. I do need to pull some weeds in the flower beds out front. Maybe I'll get out there this evening after the sun has gone down. It's blistering hot right now. Of course, the bathrooms really need to be cleaned. DD is supposed to vacuum today, while ds mops the kitchen floor. That is always helpful. Sometimes when I'm out, I'll see these "Molly Maid" cars with their phone numbers on them. It's so tempting. That sounds so wonderful to have someone else clean up after you! Of course, I've never had that; but I've fantasized... What would be my excuse, though, of why I needed a Molly Maid? I'm too busy on forums and my blog?? That doesn't sound so convincing! Okay, back to reality... I guess I better go scrub the toilet now. Until later... Be blessed! ~Crazedmom "Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit in me". Psalm 51:10

Good Thursday morning, friends! It's supposed to get up to 83 today with some rain this afternoon. We're in our "hurricane season" here in sunny Florida. It runs from June 1st until November 30th. We're really hoping for a quiet season this year, although predictions do not indicate that will be the case. Of course, they were wrong last year too. We used to have afternoon showers like clockwork several years back, but in recent years they haven't been as consistent. We are still in a drought here with water restrictions. I am praying for those in the midwest that are suffering so with the floods. It seems we've had more storms, tornados, and just plain weird weather this year, especially, all across the country. I'm on Day 7 in reading "The Bible in 90 Days" program. I'm up to Exodus 29 so far; after today's reading, I'll be up to Leviticus chapter 1. Amazing. I have gotten so much out of reading the Bible in such a concentrated way. Yesterday, I was reading about when God gave Moses the Ten Commandments and the people's response when he came down from the mountain. (He was up there for 40 days!) The people responded, "Everything the Lord has said we will do". And, how quickly they seemed to forget how they had seen God visit them through the cloud and their vow to obey Him. I like the part where Jethro, Moses' father-in-law, visits him and sees how overburdened he is with the needs of the people... He tells Moses that he needs to set up a system of trusted men who will hear the easy cases, and Moses will still handle the hard cases. I think that's a great model for the church today. Pastors can get so burned out from doing everything; and it's because they were never meant to do it all. Our flesh has its limits. The Bible has infinite wisdom; if we'd delve in, we'd begin to experience more peace and joy. Someone said that all of life's problems could be solved if we just would do what the Bible says. It is our blueprint for the kind of life God had in mind for us. "The thief comes but for to steal, kill and to destroy; but I have come that you might have life, and have it more abundantly". John 10:10 The New Living Translation says it like this: "The thief's purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life". That means God has great plans for your life, my friend. When we line up our lives with the Word of God, we position ourselves to reap all the benefits of obeying God. Now, it doesn't mean this life will always be "a walk in the park". "In this world you shall have tribulation, but be of good cheer for I have overcome the world". (John 16:33) The NLT says: "I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world". When we were visiting my Dad several months ago, we got a bunch of pictures from his "picture drawer" in his secretary to bring back home. Today I thought I'd sort through them and divide into piles for my siblings and ones I want to make copies of. Most of the pictures are from our childhood. We also have a few pictures of our grandparents that we treasure. I am into genealogy research, so the pictures are real gems. I've always been the one in the family to save letters, memorabilia, pictures, etc. But, I only got hooked into genealogy research in January. It can be all-consuming if you let it. It's much like finding a needle in a haystack at times. But, when you find a "clue" or a lead, it is so exciting! A benefit to this research is it can connect you with family members who also share this passion. It has been educational to say the least. My children will have a piece of history to hold in their hands too. I have notebooks for now; but when I feel like I have enough pieces of my family puzzle, I'd like to publish a book. In April, I came up for air from my researching, and haven't gotten back into it. I think that's how it is with this sort of thing, though. It can be intense and then one needs to break up the monotony of it. Hope you have a great day! Until later... Be blessed! ~Crazedmom "Dear brothers and sisters, I close my letter with these last words: Be joyful. Grow to maturity. Encourage each other. Live in harmony and peace. Then the God of love and peace will be with you." II Corinthians 13:11 NLT

Good morning, friends! TGIF, right?! Well, I spent quite a while at the dining room table with pictures spread all over the place yesterday. I made a pile for each sibling. First I had to figure out who was in each picture. There's quite a gap in between my two older siblings, so some were of them when they were little before I came along. It was good to get it all organized. The pictures flooded my mind with many memories too. Some were of family reunions; some of grandparents; some of relatives I've never met because they died before I was born. There were a number of pictures of my mother, who died 15 yrs. ago in October. I couldn't help but stare at the pictures of her and wonder why she was taken from us so soon. She was a loving and gentle mother. She loved God with her whole heart and soul. She loved to sing praises to him and sing in the church choir. Somehow I can envision her singing in the heavenly choir now around the throne of God. She never got to see two of my children. She wasn't there to witness my wedding. And, she won't be there for my older son's wedding this year either. Her passing has left such a void in our lives for sure. The comfort I have is in knowing that she's not in pain anymore and that she's found rest. Another comfort is in knowing that I will see her again in heaven. I'm looking forward to that day! My mother taught me how to be a good mother by her example. She raised us in church and modeled before us a life dedicated to God. She went on mission's trips to Mexico and Guatemala, and fell in love with the people. She was always a giver. Her birthday would have been in three days; she would be 68. I always tell friends that have their mother still living -- Cherish them and enjoy the time that you have with them. It's all too quickly gone. My mother and I didn't have a perfect relationship. No. Who does? One constant throughout her life and still remains to this day... is the fact that I always knew she loved me and always would, no matter what. That's called unconditional love. That's what she had for all of her children. We went through tough times. Yes, we did. She somehow kept the family together, as only a Mom can do. Moms have a unique role, don't they? Of course, Dads do too. But, I often say that a Mom is the glue that keeps the family close. Life is full of unanswered questions, isn't it? One day they won't matter anymore, though. When we see Jesus face to face, the things of this world will be ancient history. All that will matter is worshipping the One who took our place and Who loves us more than we can imagine. That's the day I'm living for! Until later... Be blessed! ~Crazedmom "He will wipe every tear away from their eyes. Death will be no more; nor sorrow; nor wail of woe; nor pain; for the first things have passed away..." - Revelation 21:4

Good Sunday morning, friends! I have a few minutes here before it's time to get ready for church. The house is quiet as everyone else is still asleep. That's always a wonderful time for me, just to have a few moments of quiet. Well, I fell off the wagon a few days ago with my Bible reading, so last night I had to read 3 days' worth. That was a lot. With today's reading, I'll be in the book of Numbers. I'm getting so much out of my reading. Although it is of personal and spiritual benefit, this reading program is also a "dry run" of sorts. We plan on hosting a small group Bible study using this curriculum in January. It'll be good to have gone through it once before, so we can share some tips or suggestions. We got a lot of rain on Saturday. I decided to run a few errands with my younger son and it was a little treacherous driving in the torrential downpour! We waited for a little while in the car until it slowed down a little, but we still got drenched running into the store. Dh and dd went grocery shopping yesterday too; and boy, was dh exhausted when he got back home. (not his usual chore.) They got a little fishtank and supplies, and later went out to buy 5 little fish. You would've thought dd struck gold! She's so excited about her new "pets". We got the letter from the camp the kids will be attending that their "spot" is reserved. The kids were very happy to hear that. (Okay, I'll admit... The parents were pretty happy too. :)) The letter also came with a list of things to pack. Well, dd quickly proceeded to locate a duffle bag and get her things together. Now, the camp isn't for another two weeks, but she'll be ready! (She is definitely my daughter!) :) The day she comes home from camp is the day she's flying across country with my younger sister to visit family out there! So, she's starting to pack her suitcase as well for the other trip! I'm really happy for her that she has the opportunity to travel and see various members of our family. I didn't fly until I was sixteen! And, that was out of necessity. We were going to check out a college. But, that's how things were then. Now, travel is much more affordable. Fortunately, my sister had enough "points" to redeem that she gave my dd a free ticket. So, that is awesome! Our friend's anniversary was last week so we told them we'd watch their three year old little girl last night so they could go out. So, we watched her from around 4p.m. until 9:30p.m. or so. Fortunately dd loves to play "babysitter", so she kept her occupied for the most part. Ds was busy building with a new Lego set he just got. They offered to watch our kids for us next weekend for our anniversary, so we may go out on Saturday. Until later... Be blessed! ~Crazedmom "Praise the Lord! Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever." Psalm 106:1 NLT

"Give thanks to the Lord; for He is good." (Psalm 107:1) Well, it's a new day and a fresh new week, friends! We attended a "thank you luncheon" given by our church yesterday for all the workers who set up and tear down each Sunday. It's quite a production to set up all the sound equipment, children's church props, the lobby area, stage equipment, and instruments, etc. It will make our new church that much more sweet for sure when we have our own building again! There was a group of almost 70 of us at the luncheon at a nearby restaurant, and it was inspiring to see how it is truly a team effort to pull off every Sunday morning! My husband and I had the opportunity to get to know a new family a little better yesterday also. After the luncheon, we followed them back to their house and the kids jumped in the pool while we talked. It was a great afternoon of fellowship. They are a nice military family, who just moved here. We can relate with being "new" to an area. When we moved here nine years ago, we knew no one and we slowly met people at church. We always think about how important it is to feel welcomed when you're new to a church, and we go out of our way to introduce ourselves and talk with those guests. You'll never know how vital that contact is. You could be the only contact they have had (outside of work) all week. I always say that we, Christians, should be cheerleaders for each other. We must encourage each other to continue on in the strength and power of the Lord. We cannot make it in this life in our own strength. We must rely on God. And, sometimes our flesh (our human nature) gets tired and bogged down by the cares of this world; and that's why fellowshipping (and encouraging) with other believers is crucial to our walk with the Lord. The Bible says to "Forsake not the assembling of yourselves together". Also, it talks about hospitality and how that can be a ministry. Speaking of which... we are planning another big pot luck at our house in two weeks. We have four new families at our church that we want to invite and get to know a little better. And, we'll invite our Pastor and his wife and a few other couples. It's hard to narrow it down a little. We're accustomed to having large gatherings and we love it. The only concern is that each family has 2-3 kids each. So, we have to factor in the fact that we could have almost 20 kids! I'm thinking we might have to break it up into two different get togethers so we can maintain a little sanity. At any rate, we're looking forward to having these families over and will enjoy the fun fellowship very much! If we are to win the world for Jesus, it will be through love. We must wrap our arms of love around those who come into our churches or come across our paths and love them into the kingdom of God. Gone are the days of passing senseless judgment. Let God do the convicting. That is the work of the Holy Spirit. We are to be Ambassadors of Christ, speaking the truth in love and demonstrating the God kind of love to those who are hurting in this world. There are many. Just in getting to know these four families, for example, each one of the families: have things they're battling, come from hurtful pasts, are dealing with children who need healing, need financial breakthroughs, some are new believers, have family members in prison, and the list could go on. This is just a sampling of the issues families are facing out there and who need not our approval or disapproval; but they need to know they are not alone in this world and that somebody cares. It's been said that "People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care". That is so true, isn't it? Before you can be effective in most any capacity, you must gain the respect and attention of others. If we don't demonstrate God's love, then our love becomes like a tinkling cymbal or resounding brass. It's rather hollow. (I Corinthians 13) In a few weeks our church will be launching some outreach ministries into the community and we are excited about reaching our community for Jesus! People need hope. And, if the church isn't out there offering the message of Jesus to the lost, guess who will be there? The Mormons, The Jehovah Witnesses, New Age followers, etc. They are committed and dedicated to their cause, aren't they? It is a challenge for us all to be even more committed to soul winning and sharing our faith with those we come in contact with. "The fruit of the righteous is life; and he that wins souls is wise". (Proverbs 11:30) We are challenged in Matthew 5:13 to be the salt of the earth. It says, "If the salt has lost its savor (or flavoring), what is it good for"? "It is good for nothing". The salt is referring to us, as believers, and how we must share Christ with others. Now, when salt is rubbed on something, it can be abrasive. Salt can go against the grain of this world. Against what is politically correct and acceptable. But, if we don't use our message of hope, what are we good for? Of course, we must temper our message with love and compassion, just as Jesus did, at the same time, never diluting it. I want to bring as many with me to heaven as possible. For that is the only thing that will last, isn't it? That is our sole legacy as Christians. "Only what you do for Christ will last". "Heaven and earth will pass away; but my Word will last forever". (Mark 13:31) It is a challenge for us all to be salt and light in our world. But, we do it not in our power, but in Christ's. He gives us power and boldness to be witnesses in this earth, so one day we can hear those long awaited words, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant, enter into the joy that is set before you". Sometimes our perspective in life becomes so focused on this life that we neglect to "Store up for yourselves treasure in heaven where neither thieves steal nor moth corrupts". (Matthew 6:20) We are just passing through. This world is not our home. We shouldn't get too comfortable because we're going on to the other side before long. Material things come and go. Then, they will be no more. All this earth stuff is warm up for heaven. I believe God is preparing us to "rule and reign with Him". I don't believe we'll just be sitting around heaven doing nothing. No, I believe God is a God of order and purpose; and He has a work for each of us to do. One thing is for sure, we may not know all the details; but heaven will be absolutely and entirely more wonderful than we can even imagine!! The Best Is Yet To Come! Until later... Be blessed, my friend! ~Crazedmom "So his master said, 'Go into the country lanes and behind the hedges and urge anyone you find to come, so that my house will be full." Luke 14:23 NLT

Good Tuesday morning, friends! We don't have a whole lot planned for today. We're going to a used bookstore and to print out some pictures from my memory card. I'll scrapbook later. After talking to dh last night, we decided to narrow down our guest list for our potluck to six couples. That will be very manageable. That should be a good number to play Cranium on teams with. It's always good when we can have organized interaction. I gave ds a haircut yesterday. This is always a challenge with him because he hates getting his hair cut. He didn't want me to use the electric trimmer; only scissors. After a few go-rounds, I relented and just used the scissors. This was after he went into the bathroom and decided HE would cut his hair! Well, he cut the front of his hair pretty short, almost bald. So, I had to cut the rest of his hair to blend in. It didn't look too bad, only shorter than usual. I've always cut my older son's hair too, until last year. Now, his fiance cuts it. I also cut my dh's hair. He's about due for a cut soon. I figure the money that we're saving with cutting their hair at home kind of balances out what I spend when I get my hair colored at a shop. I don't go that often, only when the gray starts peeking through again. :) Actually, I had a friend of mine color my hair the last time, but I prefer to go to the shop. The color wasn't quite as expected. It wasn't bad, just not what I had in mind. I'm making enchiladas, refried beans and salad for dinner tonight. DD is wanting to learn how to cook, so she'll help me. I love that age when they still want to help. :) You know, after reading through the book of Leviticus again, it makes me so thankful that we do not have to offer all those various sacrifices for different sins. There were a lot of details the people had to remember in keeping the Law. Jesus came to make atonement for our sins; and I am so thankful that we can lay our sins at the foot of the Cross and receive forgiveness there. The New Testament says that Jesus didn't come to do away with the Law, but to fulfill it. It is established upon better promises, in that what the law couldn't do, Jesus came to fulfill. (Hebrews 8) I am thankful that God loves us just the way we are; but He loves us too much to leave us that way. He wants us to come up to higher heights and deeper depths in Him. The only way we can do that is through prayer and spending time in His Word. God doesn't want Christians who have been saved for 30 years still wearing spiritual diapers. I read in the "Purpose Driven Life" book a powerful statement that will stick with me. It said: "You are as close to God right now as you want to be". Sometimes we go through things in life and feel like God is far off, watching our misery from a distance or something. Perhaps it is us who are far from God. The Word says, "God is close to those who are broken and of a contrite spirit". (Psalm 34:18) The NLT says it this way, "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those who spirits are crushed". "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you". (James 4:8) God is so merciful. He is the God of second chances. And third chances... and so on. "It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to the Most High. It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning, your faithfulness in the evening". Psalm 92:1-2 NLT Have a great day. ~Crazedmom

Good Thursday morning, friends! We found a few good books at the used bookstore on Tuesday. Ds got a comic book and dd got several books, two of the Little House on the Prarie series. I have rarely come out of that store empty handed. Yesterday the kids played with two neighbor friends a good part of the afternoon, so that meant I was relieved of my "referree-ing" job for a little while. :) I cleaned up, vacuumed and did some scrapbooking. I have this big closet where I can spread out all of my scrapbooking supplies on a table, and there's actually good lighting in there too. I did finish one page yesterday. I think I'll cook the tilapia (fish) I've been meaning to have tonight, along with a salad and couscous. Saturday we're going to the beach. We'll go in the late afternoon and stay until sunset. That's my favorite time to relax on the beach; otherwise it is too unbearably hot to stay for very long. There is something so relaxing about feeling the sand underneath your feet and listening the waves rolling in. The kids love building sand castles too. We're going to Disney World on the 4th to watch the fireworks there. We've never watched them there before. I read online that the park reaches capacity that day. I guess we're not the only ones with that idea, huh? We used to have one year passes to Sea World and have been there to watch the fireworks. They are spectacular! The kids are excited about going to Disney. You might think that since we live in Florida, we go all the time. But, this will be our third time going. The first time almost doesn't count because my dd was a baby. Of course, my older son was 10 and he liked some of the rides, like the cars on the track you drive. He won't be going with us this year. He's knee deep in wedding planning, etc. -- not so much into the Disney scene any longer. :) I like riding the tea cups with my dd. The last time we went was about two years ago. They have a neat live portrayal of the U.S. Presidents. I'd like to go to that again. They are very patriotic and I love that! It is educational for the kids and develops pride in our country, which seems to be so lacking now. We used to have one year passes for Busch Gardens too. I think somewhere along the way we got "parked" out. It is so hot usually when we go and it is exhausting trapsing around the parks. I think after you go for a while, they lose their novelty too. Gotta run for now. I hope you have a wonderful day! Until later... Be blessed! ~Crazedmom "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly." Proverbs 15:1-2 NLT

It's the Weekend! Yeah! Well, my ds and his fiance stopped by for a little while yesterday. He had just come back from the Dr. and was in major pain with his back. He does a lot of heavy lifting with his job and had a herneated disc last year. He was out of work for about three months last year because of it. The Dr. gave him some medicine, but basically said he needs to find a new job. If the pain persists, he'll have to have another MRI done. He couldn't stand up straight because of the pain and as a mother, it hurt me to see him that way. I'm praying that the Lord will touch his back and heal him; and that he will be able to find a new job shortly. It was good to see him and my future d-i-l. They were excitedly telling me about all they've accomplished in the way of wedding planning. They have secured a church and a country club nearby for the reception. Her dress came in way ahead of schedule. They said it would take about three months; and it hasn't even been one month. She's still working on selecting the bridesmaid's dresses. A friend of theirs is making the cake and flower bouquets. Yesterday was a day filled with a lot of prayer! I was praying for my dh's feet as they've all of a sudden been bothering him. He's on his feet a great deal during the day and he should've replaced the shoes he was wearing apparantly long before he did the other day. Shoes make all the difference, don't they? He finally went to this New Balance store and bought a comfortable pair and some insoles. Hopefully his feet will not be hurting so much soon. If he's still miserable by next week, we may not go to Disney for the 4th. That is a lot of walking! I also received a phone call from a new friend at church and she has a myriad of health issues, so I was praying for her as well. My heart went out to her because we are the same exact age and here she has all these problems. We know that the Father is also "touched with the feelings of our infirmities". Sometimes we can get so burdened down with everyone else's burdens if we are not careful, can't we? I believe the heart of God is touched when we show compassion for others; but He wants us to lay all of those burdens at the foot of the Cross and leave them there. It is only then that we release the power of God to go to work on our behalf and others. We do not have the answers to so many of life's difficulties; and it is with that understanding, that we trust an Almighty God to intervene. I did a lot of "catch up" reading once again in my 90-day Bible reading plan. I'll be caught up today and am on Day 16 and in the book of Joshua now. Whew! That was a lot of reading. So, I've made it through Genesis through Deuteronomy, and now into Joshua. Genesis and Exodus are filled with great stories most are familiar with. Then into Leviticus, it is filled with the Law and various Offerings they had to make in atonement for their sin. I love the story starting in Numbers 13 where God tells Moses to send some men into Canaan to explore the land. He sends in a representative from each of the 12 tribes and only two, Joshua and Caleb, come back with a favorable report. The others bring back all the reasons why they can't take the land. Then the people grumbled and complained some more, and even talked about stoning Moses and the leaders. It seems like they were always complaining, God spoke, they said they'd obey what God said, they wandered around the desert some more; then they complained, then God spoke again; then they came to their senses again... and it was a vicious cycle. Of course, there was some sin going on, which separated them from God's will for their lives. Even though they had seen God speak through a pillar of fire by night and a cloud by day, they still continued in their rebellion. They had seen and heard things no other generation had; yet they continued to reject God's sovereign leadership and plan. Amazing. God's love was longsuffering with them. (as it is today) It was sad to come to the part where Moses died, after he had been the central figure for much of my reading. The Lord used him in a powerful way, though. "Since then, no prophet has rise in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face". (Deut. 34:10 NIV) Isn't that amazing? The story of Moses alone is one of great inspiration because here was a man who God had set aside for a specific time in history. The Lord preserved him when all the other boys his age were being killed, he was raised in the palace for such a time. He grew to be a strong man, and later killed a man who was oppressing one of his kinsman. He fled to the desert to escape punishment; and it was there God met with him. That's when Moses' real story begins. He takes a wife, starts a family, and God begins to develop him as a leader. Isn't that God's way? He meets us where we are, broken and all, and begins weaving the tapestry of our lives into a beautiful piece of art for His glory and His honor. It is when we are broken that we are the most pliable. But, back to Joshua and Caleb, the only two, who believed that if the Lord was with them, they would be able to achieve victory in Canaan... Who did God wind up using after Moses died? Was it the ten, who all they could see were the reasons why they would meet defeat? No. They didn't become the next great leaders. You cannot lead with a defeat mentality. No. God chose to raise up Joshua for such a time as this. He believed God and the Lord led them to victory as He had promised. In Numbers 22, there's the story about Balaam and his donkey. You know, the famous donkey of the Old Testament. He was headed to Moab to speak to Balak, the King, to deliver a word from the Lord. For whatever reason, Balaam's spiritual eyes could not see, nor his ears hear the message God was trying to give him. God had to use a donkey to get his attention. Now what does that say? His donkey even saw the angel of the Lord with a sword drawn in the middle of the road and Balaam did not see it. Here, his donkey was trying to protect him; but he didn't perceive it. The donkey kept Balaam from being killed and because he wasn't "tuned in", he was mad at the donkey. (not even realizing there was a reason!) Well, this whole episode was enough to make Balaam straighten up and fly right and he delivered the word of the Lord to Balak. (not what he wanted to hear, but it was the word of the Lord nonetheless.) There are countless lessons we can learn throughout the Old Testament if we study it. I challenge you to read it through cover to cover. There is something about the continuity of reading the O.T. through; rather than a sampling from the Old and New, a Psalm and a Proverb, like many daily Bible reading plans prescribe. You get the whole feel for what was happening and how each event relates. Already I have gotten so much out of my reading and I'm excited because the Word of God is like no other book, it is alive and brings life to those who read it! I want more life down on the inside, don't you, my friend?! We can fill ourselves up with the bad news of this world and it can make you depressed and have a negative outlook on life... or we can fill ourselves up with the life changing gospel of Christ. There is no hope outside of Christ. Input = Output We must "guard our hearts with all diligence", as the Word says, "for out of it flow the issues of life." (Proverbs 4:23) The NLT says it this way: "Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life". We must guard what we put in our ears, what we set before our eyes, the influences we allow in our lives, the places our feet walk, and the words we choose. They all determine our future. Wow! That's pretty powerful. Some things may be acceptable for us, as Christians, but are they producing good fruit? That is the question. Everything reproduces after its own kind, that's what the Word says. So, if we fill ourselves with seeds of violence, indifference, lust, greed, anger, selfishness... What kind of a harvest do you think will we reap? A farmer would not waste his time planting seeds he knows will not produce a good harvest in the fall, right? So, why do we? The short answer, I think, is because it is much easier to obey this flesh than it is to develop strong spiritual muscles, so that "we'll be able to stand against the evil one". The broader answer is because there is a spiritual battle raging for your soul. It is ultimately a battle between God and the devil; and the choice is ours. Who will we serve? Joshua told the people to "fear the Lord and serve Him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your forefathers worshipped... and serve the Lord". (Joshua 24:14) At the end of Joshua's life in chapter 24, he says, "But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve... But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord". (verse 15) Even so, let it be for us and for generations to come... Until later... Be blessed! ~Crazedmom

Hi there, friends. Hope you're enjoying your weekend. It seems everyone is either napping around here or playing outside. And, here I sit ... not napping. I rarely take a nap these days. I used to be able to sleep at the drop of a hat; but my wheels are usually too busy going a hundred miles per hour. I do sleep at night, though. We had a good service at church this morning. We alternate with another family preparing the coffee and setting up the doughnuts. Today, they set up and we cleaned up. Next Sunday is our turn to set up. My dh is on the church council and he usually counts the offering with another council member at the church office after the service. So, Sundays are always busy; but also refreshing. It's always nice to see friends. Speaking of friends... our big potluck is on Saturday. Our Pastor and his wife will join us, along with at least three other families. I haven't fully decided what I'm making yet. I'm thinking about spaghetti for the kids, maybe a chicken casserole, veggie, big salad and dinner rolls. I guess I need to find out what everyone else is bringing too. I read an interesting book called, "Evangelism That Works" by George Barna yesterday. I really enjoyed it. One part I thought was interesting was... He said if you'd ask the average church leader what the key issues that need to be addressed and they'd list a myriad of spiritual issues. He said if you asked the "nonchurched" person the same questions, they say the key issues they face are: finances, health, family, job, etc. So, it boils down to addressing and meeting the physical needs of the individual before they can reach a place where they can receive the gospel. It shows how we need to change the way many view evangelism because the world thinks differently than those who have come to Christ. I'm looking forward to reading a couple of other books on evangelism I ordered. We remain prayerful that the Lord will help us win our community for Christ. I received an email from a cousin in MD, who said she'll come down for my ds' wedding. I'm so glad! We really weren't sure how many of our out of state (which are many) family members would be able to come. Some of the older relatives probably won't travel. A friend of mine from high school is planning on coming too. Between my ds and our house, we'll have a house full! That's okay. I'm just so excited about the wedding and to see various family members. I was telling my dh last night that I've got to find a dress to wear to the wedding. It's an evening wedding, so it should be fairly formal; but not overdone. I have a feeling that the mother of the bride will wait until the last possible moment, unfortunately, to figure out what she'll be wearing. Traditionally, I'm supposed to wait to see what she'll be wearing and wear a different color, but a similar style. I'm probably putting entirely too much thought into this whole process. I guess it's such a big day that I am thinking of all these silly details. Of course, my dh's reaction to me talking about buying a dress/suit for the wedding was... "What about those suits you have hanging in the closet now"? To which I replied, "I don't have anything fit for a wedding". :) That's "code speak" for "I am welcoming the excuse to buy a new dress"! The next item on the wedding agenda is to order the invitations. I want to mail out the invitations to family out of state somewhere around 6-8 weeks ahead of time. I called my ds today to check on how his back is doing and he said it's a little better. He's been resting a lot and taking the pain medicine. I told him we'll continue to pray for him. Last night my younger ds and dh went to see a movie at the dollar theater. After dinner, dd and I trimmed some bushes and pulled a thousand or more weeds in the flower beds out front. I trimmed the palm tree too. Boy, did it need it! Do you want to hear something funny? We have long taken down all the Christmas lights and outdoor decor.... EXCEPT... we still have a string of lights around the palm tree! You can't see them from a distance, but it is ridiculous! I guess I've been waiting for dh to get out there and take them down. But, I think I better just take them down. You have to be careful around the palm because you can easily get cut. (which is why I haven't done it yet!) Anyway, we did a lot of work out there and filled two black trash bags! (We just put the palm fronds to the curb for pick up.) We have so much more work to do out there, though. I need dh to help me transplant some bushes though. I need his muscles. One day I decided to dig up this one little bush because I thought it was on its last leg. So, I got my hoe and dug and dug and dug.... until my back was killing me. I thought the roots on that thing must go all the way down to China! :) Well, I gave up! I said, "Okay, you win. You get to stay here 'cause I can't dig you up." That bush is still there, but I'd like to dig it up, along with some others. Our flower bed is a bit crowded and once we get the landscaping curbing put in, I will replace my impatiens that are on steroids! It's true. They are huge. My dh says "Leave 'em. They're pretty and colorful". Well, they are, but they'll be the size of a small tree soon. A little abnormal looking if you ask me. :) It was perfect weather last night to be doing all that we did as it had just rained and there was a nice breeze! How divine! There's no way I'd get out there in the middle of the day. The intensity of the sun just drains every drop of energy you think you may have! I'm supposed to help dd pack for camp later this evening. She leaves not this week, but next Monday. Then, she's off to CA with my ds to visit our db. That reminds me, I need to get her a couple of disposable cameras to take on her trips with her. There are a few girls from our church also going to the camp, so they should be in the same cabin together. I know she'll have a ton of fun! Well, gotta run and see about dinner. Hope you have an enjoyable evening and a blessed week! ~Crazedmom "Jesus replied, 'You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: Love your neighbor as yourself'". Matthew 22:37-38 NLT

HAPPY 4th OF JULY! We're going out to watch some fireworks later. Dh and ds are at Home Depot buying some paint and spackle for the house. It'll be good to get some touch up painting done. I love when dh gets the urge to do household projects! His cousin is coming over to help paint, so that'll really help. I made some chicken for dinner to be served over rice. Dd and I went to the grocery store earlier and got everything for tomorrow's get together. They had a neat 4th of July cupcake cake. The red, white and blue cupcakes were put together in the shape of the U.S. to form a cake. Very cute. So, I thought that would be nice and festive for tomorrow, plus they're already in single portions. Perfect. I'm making sweet and sour meatballs with rice. I also got a couple of Stouffer's dinner to pop in the oven. I'll do a veggie tray with carrots, cucumbers, yellow squash, and celery. I like to get the cherry tomatoes, but they didn't look good. I'll probably chop everything up tonight to have it ready. I also got chips and Cheetos to set out. That'll be a good start anyway and whatever our friends bring will be a bonus. We'll have iced tea and I got Hawaiian Punch for the kiddos. I need to ask dh to set up the ping pong table in the garage for tomorrow when he comes back. I haven't played in a while, but I do enjoy it. My older ds may meet up with us later to watch fireworks tonight. He worked earlier today. He's on somewhat "light" duty, but he's still lifting a lot. He wears his back brace, but I don't know if that'll be enough protection for him. We had dinner at a friend's house last night and enjoyed the fellowship very much. She had some of her family visiting from Georgia and it was nice to meet them, as well as a couple who live nearby. There was certainly plenty of food and it was all delicious. We left there fairly late and were ready for bed when we got home! I'm getting ready to throw in the third load of laundry here and have folded three loads. I've loaded the dishwasher, made two beds, and straightened up a little. I am tired now! But, at least I won't have too much to do tomorrow and can save my energy for hosting our company. I hope you'll enjoy the rest of your day and the weekend! Until later... Be blessed! ~Crazedmom "Blessed is the Nation whose God is the Lord". Psalm 33:12

Happy July 5th everyone!! Hope you all had a good 4th of July. We wound up watching the fireworks with two other families from church, not too far away. They were beautiful! There were a lot of people and they had rides and vendors there. Of course, that just makes the kids have the "gimmees". The dads went with the kids to buy the glow swords and necklaces, so they all were happy with those. The fireworks were set off of a pier, so they were pretty over the water. We bumped into two other families we know... one from our church and another was a neighbor of the one of the families. Funny how in a crowd like that you can find anyone you know! We brought our cooler of water (a must going almost anywhere in FL!) and chairs to sit in. My dh's cousin finished painting the trim in the kitchen and it looks so nice. It was one of those projects dh just didn't get back to finishing. He'll come back over sometime soon to do some more painting. We have to choose a color for the hall bathroom and he will paint that. My dd's room needs to be touched up so we need to buy more paint for that room also. I painted just about the whole house when we moved in last year, and I'm glad I did it then while I had the ambition. Dh also repaired a few holes in the wall that our dear children put there. Maybe today he'll sand it, spray the texture, and paint over them.
