Good morning, friends. I thought I'd write before we take a tour of the church this a.m. My ds called last night to say they need to change the date! We'll check with the church today. Thank God, the invitations haven't been printed!! I was thumbing through Ann Coulter's book, "Godless", yesterday. I've never read any of her books before, only seen her on Fox news. She tells it like it is. She was talking about the agenda of liberals, aka Democrats, and their fierce defense of "social issues", etc. I was sitting there reading, scratching my head, trying to figure out how America has reached such a low moral level and such a deranged mindset of what our "rights" are. There is such a moral divide in this country, let alone a political one. I was born in 1970, but I've studied history, read a lot of books, and listened to much commentary... which only makes me an average citizen, not an authority, I realize... However, I am a proud American, nonetheless. So, based on that qualification alone, I offer my opinions. I'm in the middle of reading a couple of books on Theodore Roosevelt and Winston Churchill. What happened to leaders of moral strength? We have a relatively young country; which has sustained conflict over the years. But, I believe none so great as the current moral conflict with far reaching ramifications. I believe that when we took God out of public schools in the 60's, the drug epidemic, the feminist movement, the push for "evolution" as truth and no moral absolutes in schools, and the assault on prayer or Christian symbols in the public place, etc. --- all coupled together has produced generations now of people who don't hold to the morals and values our forefathers held so dear. Evolution teaches that humanity began as a tiny amoeba and has now morphed into a human being. Evolution has a problem (among others) with that theory, and that is, if their theory is based on cells changing and becoming something better... Why haven't we, as humans, become something else?? Why is this theory relevant to the average person? Well, it is relevant because every public school in America is turning out students who have been indoctrinated with this propoganda. I was glad to hear that our local public schools will begin teaching "Intelligent Design", aka "Creationism" in addition to evolution, this fall. If kids are believing they are misguided to say the least. Can you have a good self-image if you truly believe you came from an amoeba that morphed into a frog that morphed eventually into a monkey, who eventually became human? That sounds like s cartoon! What would happen if we started filling our kids up with "The Purpose Driven Life" book? What if we taught them that God knew they would be born well before He created the foundation of the world, that they have a purpose, and that the Creator of the Universe is on their side?? I digress... That is just a tiny example of how far we've strayed from Biblical values. We, as parents and as Christians, have a tremendous responsibility to influence the children in our lives for good and teach them what the Bible says about them and about life. If you don't have any children, you still can have influence on children at church or in the community. Children are looking for an example. I could go on, but suffice to say, that we all need to exercise our right to vote in this presidential election and any other election. We, as Christians, must make our voice heard. We cannot afford to stay silent. Some say, "Religion has no place in politics or the mainstream". They want to isolate those with any moral beliefs or clear conscience, so they will be unstoppable in advancing their delirious agenda. No! Not on our watch! Each of us has a constitutional right to let our voice be heard and we must be heard in every election. We must begin to get out in force and elect those with values who match our own. Otherwise, we'll continue to wake up each morning, and be shocked by the direction our officials are headed. It's up to us! It's been said that, "All it takes for history to repeat itself is for good people to do nothing". We need to go back and study history, so we will not repeat its mistakes. The socialist agenda is attempting to advance itself in our nation; and we must not let that happen. Some want health insurance for everyone! Sounds good, maybe too good. That is called "socialized medicine", my friend and it has a tremendous cost. The biggest cost of all is a cost we cannot afford to surrender. It's called FREEDOM. Freedom to choose doctors, hospitals, what year we have a necessary surgery, etc., etc. Freedom from higher taxes! That's how it would be paid for. Be careful when you hear about all these wonderful social programs and economic plans -- it all is "code speak" for higher taxes! Some want to increase taxes on what they call "the rich". They're actually referring to those who make $50k or more. That would be considered the working middle class, the last time I checked. So, they're attempting to appeal to the lower class to perpetuate class warfare among Americans. Why? Why would they seek to divide us further? Well, it gets the lower class excited when they hear that their taxes would be lowered and the "rich" would be taxed further. If they're in the lower tax brackets, they're already paying minimal taxes, if any. The middle class and the upper class are the ones who carry the majority of the tax burden in this country. Their incomes are higher, thus their taxes are higher. This makes sense, right? So, why do people buy this political nonsense? Because they don't do their homework and it sounds good! Remember that saying, "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is." That applies here. I think our tax system does need an overhaul. Some advocate the flat tax system. I need to do my homework on that one. It could be viable. I also think we could offer greater tax incentives for small businesses. This would encourage people to start businesses and aid existing business owners. I think McCain would do well to have someone proficient in business as his running mate. That would be a strong asset to his presidency. (especially during this time of financial strain) .... I suggest doing some research on the candidates. I found out some of McCain's stances on the issues today and was a little relieved. There won't be a perfect candidate for president; but there will be a president... and that's the person we must pray for. Our nation faces its greatest enemies at this time in history, and we cannot afford to sleep. We cannot afford to ignore our nation's threats at the risk of promoting our own domestic social agenda. The president has a huge task of leading this great country. Let us make it ours to hold our future president up in prayer. Okay, I'm getting off my "political soapbox" now. I love this country. I love the foundations of this great nation, and I want to see our nation remain strong and vibrant for the coming generations. It's a little ironic that our country got started because the British wanted to escape religious oppression by their government. So, they founded this country to establish themselves with freedom of religion. How far we've digressed... Those who risked their lives to come to this great country would roll over in their graves if they could see America now. But, we're still here... and each of us CAN make a difference! Until later... Be blessed, my friends. ~Crazedmom "If my people, who are called by name, would humble themselves and pray and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and heal their land."
