artemis -> 1st Father's Day... ideas? (5/30/2008 4:32:25 PM)

My husband and I are expecting our first child in December and he gave me a photo album for Mother's Day. I don't have any idea what to get him for Father's Day, especially since our baby isn't even born yet. Still, I'd like to get him something. A simple gift, like the photo album, would be great, but I don't know what. Any ideas?

Thanks [:)]

How about a letter from the heart? Letting him know that he is going to be a great dad. Describe the future things he is going to do with him/her such a engaging in your husband's favorite activities. Helping him/her grow in faith. And if your child is a boy, he will grow up to be like his dad.

A bass boat... because if he doesn't get one now, he won't get one for 10 years! [:D]
Personal experience.... [8|]

What are some of his hobbies?

Maybe some softer music like Nora Jones? I love her CD's after a long day. And with a newbie in the house, it's going to be fun, rough, exciting, sleep deprived, etc. So quite moments will be greatly treasured.

I always liked the ideas of coupons. Men get pretty jealous of the baby after he or she is born. The baby gets most of the mom's/wife's attention in many, many respects - especially his favorite parts of her. So, being extra attentive to that, letting him know that you will be there for him in those respects, may be worthwhile. SO the coupons can be for alone time, certain favors, etc. etc. I'm sure you know what he likes and can figure the rest out.[;)]

How about a new BBQ grill? Can't go wrong there. Guys are practical - no need for a "sentimental" gift. For a guy, sentimentality is measured by how much he's gonna use the thing. Fishing poles... Fishing poles are also a good thing.

You can go 1. Personal, 2. Something baby related (like the picture/pic frame etc.) 3. Something family related like a video cam.

Since baby is not here yet--I suggest personal. Depends on what he likes. If he is into books--a Borders gift card. My wife buys me almost every CD I get, because she knows my groups and when they have a new release. She got me an IPOD to put all the groups on I like. And, I like understanding our Christian/Israel roots so she got me a "pray for the peace of Israel" tie, and a shofar.
