I keep a goal picture on the fridge and find that if I glance at it I'll usually not eat whatever it was I was going after. Finished run #5 of week one last night, moving on to week two tomorrow. My carb cravings are just absolutely out of control, they are beyond what my body needs and into just plain old cravings at this point. I think starting Wednesday I'm going to do a "detox", which is basically just the first phase of Southbeach.

My mom has a before picture that she's constantly using for encouragment, inspiration, motivation, etc. It was the biggest she's ever been. When she saw the picture the first time she said, "I look like THAT!!!" That was when she started to lose weight. Every time she gets frustrated, she looks at the pictures and sees how far she's come. I finished week 3 yesterday. My program was weird in week three. It had us ending on a run. After the first day of it I thought, maybe I ran or walked an extra segment. But day 2 was the same way. So last night I increased my path and took advantage of it. I sprinted for part of the last segment. Just went all out. Then walked the rest of the way when I couldn't sprint any longer and finished off my segment with some of my own music. It was fun to just go and see how fast I could run before dying.

I'd be interested in knowing which podcasts each of you are using. If you have a link, that would be great. I think I will be using one that I found for free on iTunes. But, if there is one that you are using and just love and would recommend, I'd love to know. Thanks.

I'm using Podrunner Intervals from itunes. I looked for c25k on itunes and found two, but one didn't have week 1 and one only had weeks 1-3. Just in case they weren't following the same intervals, I didn't want to use two different podcasts.

I use THESE ones, they are available for download through that website and once you get the first one then iTunes will pull the rest in from the store.

I use the same ones as Ryanne, because I don't have an iPod, I have an mp3 player, and they are available in mp3's as well, I just download them myself. I really enjoy the podcasts.

What's a good way to keep a food diary? When I was part of a program, I had to log my calories and exercise. I'd plan my meals for the whole day and write it down in the morning. Or do you like to write down at the end of the day? And when you log your food do you include calorie count or anything like that? I really need to start doing SOMETHING and I drag my feet with everything I want to do.

Nicole..... I'm planning to get one of those old fashioned stenographer tablets. On the left side I will write my planned intake for the day's meals. On the right side, I will write my actual intake. I think that may be a good plan for me.

Being the internet lover that I am, I really liked sparkpeople.com. Totally free! You can log your food there and they automatically calculate calories, etc. You can even track other things like carbs, fiber, etc. --Kat

I use these Christian Indie Tracks podcasts (even though I just listen to it on my computer speakers). For me, it works pretty well. Also, it has different podcasts for when the weeks are different (ie: week 5 has 3 different workouts....so there are 3 podcasts). As far as the food journal...I was reading today that keeping a food journal well help you lose TWICE as much weight. Yes, TWICE. I read it on a couple of different places. Guess making yourself accountable helps in more ways than one. They did say it doesn't matter how you write it down...can be a sticky note, notebook, email to self, blog, etc. The recommendation was to record after EACH meal or snack that way your recollection was the freshest. I started mine today...so we'll see how it goes.

I didn't link to it earlier, Christine. Just did and it's an even DIFFERENT article with the same study. Whacko, huh? I guess people are so desperate to lose weight nowadays. Heard on the radio this morning that the federal government is wanting to invest more money in PREVENTATIVE care for overweight and less on once it happens. Not sure what I think about that as I am overweight. They did say that they are looking at beginning to medicate overweight children as young as 8 for high cholesterol and blood pressure as the problems begin early on in life!

all sorts of weight loss news these days. I'm a little perturbed at the idea of giving kids cholesterol drugs. I have mixed feelings about medicating adults for cholesterol too, but that's a different story. I'm goign to not get on my soapbox and refrain from saying any more.

even just a notebook is helpful, if you just need a reminder of how much you ate. I started doing that in an excel spreadsheet about a year ago and was surprised at how much I snacked. YIKES!!!

Go by time, not by speed. I'm pretty slow too even when I am in good shape.
