Well, shalom to you, Lap! [:)] So, when all of you attend services tonight and/or tomorrow, what do you expect? What do you most look forward to? What will it be like where you worship publicly? Just to start, I will answer my own questions. We don't have services on Friday evenings, because we reserve that time for the family. Not a religious statement -- just what we do here. Tomorrow, I will show up at services just before 10:30 am. Lots of people to greet, chat with, etc. Then service begins with congregational singing. Accompanying us will be keyboard, two or three guitars, drums, and bongos -- usually -- along with the music leader on his various instruments, usually trumpet, flugelhorn, or something similar. The worship team is usually either four or three persons. And the rest of us join in. I love the music. Following this is the liturgy, which we all pray from the same siddur. There are various such activities included in the liturgy as (especially) the Sh'ma, praying for the sick, etc. But the main thing I look forward to is the teaching. In fact, when I first started going, I would skip all the other parts and just show up for the teaching. This is followed by more liturgy, including blessing G-d with those who have lost loved ones. Most stay for lunch afterward, and activities continue all day, including more teaching. I look forward to Sabbath more than any other such activities, and the great part of that is we only have to wait six days for it! Yes! A weekly gift!! Bless the L-rd, He gives us the best 52 times a year!!
