I just saw the following headlines from Newsweek ...

"According to a new study, the ubiquitous summer shoe (aka flip flops) may be bad for your ankles and feet."

... and they seemed so sensible for those lazy days in the sun.

Wouldn't the most sensible shoes be able to smell or touch? taste or see? How about a pair of shoes that can hear?

Now that would be a big help, maybe if they had eyes too!

Really, now why do they say that? Is it because of no arch support, etc?

Someone did a study on flip-flops and Newsweek reported on it? I wonder if I did a study on sensible shoes if Newsweek would report my findings too.

I heard it on the news. Apparently, people are neglecting to put sunscreen on their feet, which leads to skin cancer on their feet. And then they think the spots are something else other than cancer and they ignore them.

I don't think I've ever put sunscreen on my feet.

I have very hard to fit feet, so I've never had the privilege of shoe-shopping for fun! Also, I live in the country, so the top priorities are a good comfortable fit and getting across the terrain. I am very tall, and would love to date/marry a very tall man who wanted me to wear heels! Most days, it's sensible, tie-up shoes that grip the ground.

Just goes to show how important shoes are if they keep you grounded.

I'll let you in on a little secret about men and high heels: there are three reasons we like them, and they're all sexual.

1. They change the angle between the leg and the foot, making the ankle appear slimmer.
2. They unbalance the wearer, forcing her to push her backside out and giving us a better view.
3. The thrust-out backside also forces the upper body forward, giving us a better view of those as well.

Sensible shoes are fine. I only want a woman in heels for special occasions.

Now this I already knew .

However, due to problems with my back, I've been advised by the doctor that high heels are no longer an option for me . (sigh) & I looked so good when wearing them too - life can be so unfair.

Quote above is from 9drtr.

& to answer the second part of the question. Yes, I do notice what a man wears on his feet.

Ok, my question is: Do men notice pedicures and stuff like that?

Pshh, I sure hope no guys looks at my feet.
Not that they're ugly or anything, just feet freak me out.

I love my feet. That's why I wear sensible shoes. I'm thankful for my feet.

I have cute feet.

A couple of my girlfriends and I were comparing feet and they said I won hands (or feet!) down. I think they're pudgy like the rest of me but whatever...LOL

I have unusually small feet. Not only are they smaller than you'd expect, they're also narrowish, which at times can make it hard to fit shoes.

It has improved over the years, but still...

I ALWAYS keep my toenails painted. My toes are very long with my 2nd and 3rd ones being longer than the first. I've worn a size 10 since I was in 6th grade. As I've aged, they've widened, but that's it. Give me heels - all the time. LOL But, I want them to be sensible heels. And like BL - I'm thankful for my feet.

Like the others, I have cute feet, too! So I take care of my feet and wear sandals. Hey, it's Florida-- sandals are mandatory dress code. But I am learning to like heels. Still not comfortable in 4" heels, but most of my heels are 1" or 2"

I've found myself wearing a lot of platform style shoes. Chunky heels with a lift on the front as well. I can't do stilettos. *shudders* about kill myself.

I don't look at feet, they're kind of weird looking and I'd much rather look at a girl's face than her feet!

Now aren't heels and sensible shoes an oxy moron? Just wondering.
