I've heard it said that when you go for a job interview you should be sure your shoes look good. Prospective employers look at your shoes. Getting that job may boil down to whether or not you wore the right shoes. Do you think the same thing applies (no pun intended) for dating?

Men, do you prefer women in sensible shoes?

Women, do you even look at what the man has on his feet?

Hey! Why are you laughing? This is a serious footwear discussion.

lol

woodwind228 -> RE: Sensible Shoes (6/6/2008 12:08:48 AM)

Define "sensible". For me, high heels aren't necessarily all that sensible, but I think the guys like 'em. 'Course, when you dress up it's a must, lest you look out of sorts. I guess it just depends on what you're wearing really.

But yeah, I do notice the shoes. Usually.

Holybattleaxe -> RE: Sensible Shoes (6/6/2008 12:11:31 AM)

well maybe if the guy maybe looked good maybe i would not notice them or something LOL but still only the Lord knows right?

BugLady -> RE: Sensible Shoes (6/6/2008 12:21:00 AM)

Oh, I think sensible can be loosely defined. What's sensible to one may not be for another. It really depends upon your feet. What do your feet think? How do they feel about the shoes they are in?

I heard that Hillary was being criticized for wearing sensible shoes during her campaign. But no one critisized John McCain or Barack Obama for their footwear. What's up with that? I think anyone running for president should wear sensible shoes. Whether I support them or not. I don't want a president who doesn't wear sensible shoes, ya know?

broyce1981 -> RE: Sensible Shoes (6/6/2008 4:05:12 AM)

I really don't pay much attention to shoes. Hmmm....I never thought of them as that important. I mostly wear sneakers to everything because it's hard to find shoes that will fit me.

CoachSteve -> RE: Sensible Shoes (6/6/2008 8:05:48 AM)

I think the shoes should match the outfit. Heels yes, although they look great with everything from shorts to jeans, to the Little black dress. I know I find them very attractive, but if we are out at the mall or someplace you are going to be spending all day on your feet and you wear heels, well that just means to me that you could be high maintenance. cuz I know they hurt you women's feet after a time. so I think shoes should match what you wear and what you are doing.

Ditto. And I do look at his shoes, too, though I don't mind if he's wearing something casual. Down here, we see a lot of guys who wear slacks and running shoes. As long as they're clean and don't have holes in them, I don't mind so much. [:D]

RosieCotton -> RE: Sensible Shoes (6/6/2008 10:19:22 AM)

So, you would look at a guy w/holes in his shoes and think..........?????
What would u think?

Then I'd think he needs a new pair of shoes. [8D]

Good to see you, Rosie!!!

Pauley464 -> RE: Sensible Shoes (6/6/2008 12:24:15 PM)

Actually, I do look at shoes. I think it shows how a person views their own appearance. If the shoes don't match their clothing or are in poor condition they probably don't care enough about how they look.

At job interviews, I always make sure my shoes are appropriate for the job I'm applying for and look good. I believe that it shows I will pay as close attention to my duties as I do to my personal appearance.

As far as dating is concerned, I don't really care what footwear she has. But for my personal tastes, I have an extreme dislike for anything chunky or platform, but I would still date her.

trainfan -> RE: Sensible Shoes (6/6/2008 1:05:11 PM)

I can't say I really pay attention to footwear. I wear tennis shoes everyday b/c I spend a lot of time on my feet and have a hard time finding shoes that fit well and are comfortable.

9drtr -> RE: Sensible Shoes (6/6/2008 6:19:45 PM)

Susan,

I'll let you in on a little secret about men and high heels: there are three reasons we like them, and they're all sexual.

1. They change the angle between the leg and the foot, making the ankle appear slimmer.
2. They unbalance the wearer, forcing her to push her backside out and giving us a better view.
3. The thrust-out backside also forces the upper body forward, giving us a better view of those as well.

Sensible shoes are fine. I only want a woman in heels for special occasions.

BugLady -> RE: Sensible Shoes (6/6/2008 7:29:48 PM)

I may never wear heels in public again.

9drtr -> RE: Sensible Shoes (6/6/2008 8:02:35 PM)

I think it's so subtle most men aren't consciously aware of it. Most men think High heels! Pretty! without understanding why.

WaitingforBoaz -> RE: Sensible Shoes (6/6/2008 8:03:38 PM)

Yes I feel as if I have been "educated".[&:]

This is about footwear, which I may notice, but I really look for other things, like what kind of watch he wears(if he even wears one) and how does he keep his money. Is it shoved in his pocket? or in a clip or a wallet? Is his clothing wrinkled or well maintained?

BugLady -> RE: Sensible Shoes (6/6/2008 8:09:23 PM)

Educated? I feel exposed. [sm=icon_smile_blush.gif]

I notice those kind of things about a man, too, Nadine.

I suppose there's a lot of subconcious stuff going on in the minds of men and women.

Are his pants on backwards...

BugLady -> RE: Sensible Shoes (6/6/2008 8:12:39 PM)

Backwards pants are bit troublesome. But which is worse? Backwards pants or backwards shoes?

If his pants are on backwards, call a psychiatrist.

If his shoes are on backwards, call an exorcist.

Your choice which is more disturbing.

BugLady -> RE: Sensible Shoes (6/6/2008 8:29:15 PM)

Disturbing? Neither are what I'd call disturbing.

Either way, I'm thinking it's a no. LOL [:D]
