Thank you to all the military families here. Thank you is not enough, but thank you anyway.

Sunday Night, 11-16-08 .... Just a cheery little check-in from me! We had a very nice time on our mini vacation to Monterey Wed-Thu-Fri. We saw two different kinds of whales, plus lots of sea otters, sea lions, harbor seals, pelicans, hawks, sea gulls, cormorants, etc ... it was just delightful. In addition to biking and whale watching and sightseeing, we enjoyed the maritime museum, Fisherman's Wharf/Cannery Row, and spent a few delightful and peaceful hours exploring the mission at San Juan Bautista. The weather was delightful, too. We're home now ... and Ron heads back to work tomorrow (Monday). He'll work all this week, then Mon-Wed next week .... then Thursday will be Thanksgiving. We leave for 10 days in Hawaii the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (Dec 2-12) ... we've been looking forward to that since springtime! We spent much of this weekend getting around-the-house stuff done, which has been nice. It's just so nice having hang out time with him (plus he is excellent at killing spiders, which keep invading! EEEEK!) You and your loved ones are in my prayers and thoughts.

We are doing okay. Best if I am not around happily married couples for long periods if you know what I mean. (Any of you other ladies have that issue? does it make you sad to see other women and their husbands?) I am trying to NOT count days or nanoseconds as my sig line states. of course the nanoseconds are an unreal number well beyond my comprehension so that helps. I have received some sort of communication every day but two since he landed in the sandy place. The two days were the days he spent getting from one place to another and going from temp quarters to his actual quarters. Issues? Finding motivation to keep the house clean. Finding motivation to actually sit at the table and eat a meal(hurts to see the empty chair in front of me. Finding motivation to celebrate *anything*. Thanksgiving has never been a big sell for me anyway.*sigh* Christmas the last 2 years has been more of a drain than a joy even with my Honey home so I am supposed to find the Umph in me this year to "celebrate" for the kids sake? Ahhhh Yeah.... Okay... even the KIDS know that I have been the Grinch the last 2 years. They would so see through an Ezri Lou Who act. They are not stupid folks. But over all Okay. I still have 6 kids 4 cats and currently 2 dogs(baby sitting a friends for the week)

Ezri, if you're getting through, I think you're doing great. I bet I'd be much the same as you. Hang in there!

Ezri, I don't much like to be around other married couples too much either, although that eases with time. Halfway through now and the sting is not nearly as much as it was at first... Donna, actually, God was way too good to us. Justin got stuck in Kuwait for an extra couple of days, so his leave doesn't end until friday!! He gets to spend Thanksgiving with us. YAY!! We're having over my 2 closest friends here, both of their men are gone too, and another girl from the unit, who's man works with Justin. The woman was just gonna stay at home alone...can you believe that?!?! No kids and too far away from fam. HECK NO!! Come to the Nut House says I. And bring Pepsi. Yeah. Since Justin has been home, he's ripped up the kitchen floor, built me a new half-door between the living room and kitchen, bought me a new fridge, fixed the sliding door (it kept getting stuck), cleaned the yard, fixed the truck, cleaned the garage and *hopefully* gotten me pregnant...LOL *sigh* whatta man! LOL Ezri. IME, the first 2-3 months are the toughest. You can do it. We're here for you. Sandy

Oh that made me so happy to read! YAYAYAYAYAYAY! Yay! And did I mention YAY? Brian said he's worked too hard while he's been home. But I told him he would have done the same. Hey, we're hoping to come up and visit you sometime next week, if that's okay (if not, that's okay too!). Before we really get going with hsing again, ya know? So PM me and let me know when a good day might be. Provided it's not blizzarding, of course.

I am not a military wife, but my boyfriend was a marine. I just wanted to say that I admire you women so much.. Your husbands are true heroes and while they give up a lot to fight for our country, you give up a lot too. My boyfriend was killed in Iraq last October 2 weeks before he was to come back home. I wasn't even married to him and it was the hardest thing I've ever had to go through. I just want to say "Thank You" to each and every one of you.
