The most annoying character on a soap opera in my opinion is Spinelli on General Hospital. This is a guy who has no sense of reality and refers himself as a third person and everybody else as such and they all agg him on in his fantasy. Get him off the show already. Let's all jump in and give your opinions.

John Black on DAYS can sometimes be annoying with his facial expressions and the way he talks. But, now that he doesn't remember who he is and has taken on being a Dimera he is not that bad to tolerate, actually he is quite humorous.

Reva on Guiding Light. They should have left her dead the first two or three times they killed her off! Instead, they bring her back time and time again.

I love Spinelli.[:)] I think he is so un-soap opera-like. I can't decide between Victor Newman and Gloria Abbott on Young and Restless. Victor has turned into such a jerk to everyone, especially his own children; and his romance with Sabrina turns my stomach. Gloria is so melodramatic, and she never thinks before she acts. OK, I'll vote for Victor.

I like Gloria. She may do some real wacko things, but she does them for all of the right reasons, at least in her mind she does.

That one who's always sleeping around.

I guess that doesn't narrow it down much...

Since Days of Our Lives is all I watch (& that's only when I'm not working), I would have to say Sam is annoying, but many others on there are just plain stupid. I don't know, I seem to like John less since he became a Dimera.

Did ya'll hear that Tina is returning to One Life to Live? She was a royal booger too! k

redeemedsaint -> RE: The most annoying character on a soap opera (6/12/2008 2:14:15 PM)

I saw that. Tina coming back and you know there is going to be trouble. Watch out Dorian!

Just another desperate attempt to bolster sagging ratings. Problem is, poor writing is the major problem.

Adding my vote to John Black on Days - He's one of the reasons I quit watching. Him and the absolutely horrendous writing and atrocious plot lines. [:'(]

Gotta agree with ya! That's why I don't watch them anymore.

[8|] That's what I think too, RS and you beat me to it because who ever heard of someone who works with the mob who is a computer nerd? Enough of him already!!!

This charater is a ultimate waste of air time, but tell that to Brian Frons, President of ABC Daytime, because this charater is making money, lol...

Time and time again...funny choice of words talking about annoying Reva storylines! GL truly almost jumped the shark on that one - and for a soap, that's saying a lot!

But I have to put Luke on As the World Turns even ahead of Reva. I can't even watch ATWT anymore. I catch the end sometimes waiting for GL when I'm not also annoyed and tired of that - which, I have to admit, usually has something to do with Reva (I used to love Reva but the whole cancer thing was just handled so ridiculously I can't get past it). But as if the two gay guys all over each other wasn't irritating (deal breaker) enough, why must Luke be so whiney all the time? I mean, his poor "boyfriend" was happier in his fake marriage to the Middle Eastern girl. He's got to be enough to make any man straight! Uuugh!

I agree. I quit watching this a long time ago, but when I passed through the channels a while back and saw "NuJohn," I'll admit I got a chuckle out of him.

Jeff_from_Kentucky -> RE: The most annoying character on a soap opera (6/20/2008 10:48:17 PM)

I grew up watching the CBS soaps in the 1970s - ATWT, GL, Y&R, Search For Tomorrow and Edge of Night. Yes, the latter two were CBS soaps at that time. One thing I have noticed about the soaps in recent years is that the writers and producers have made caricatures out of the characters.

Some examples of what I am talking about are Reva and Alan on GL, Victor on Y&R, and the entire Hughes family on ATWT. None of those people are even likable anymore. Even when they were bad guys at their meanest, you couldn't help but like Victor and Alan. Now, they are nothing but a joke.

It's almost as if the networks are intentionally driving viewers away so that they will have an excuse to cancel all the soaps.

The whole world's computerized, including the mob. Even street gangs use computers. A good hacker can be a huge asset to organized crime.

frog43 -> RE: The most annoying character on a soap opera (6/25/2008 3:28:33 PM)

I agree about Luke on ATWT. I'm not happy about the gay story to begin with, but I might be able to tolerate it better if Luke and Noah weren't such whiney saps.

redeemedsaint -> RE: The most annoying character on a soap opera (6/26/2008 1:35:18 PM)

I will now add Robin Scorpio on the list. She is ready to have a baby and she is so whiny and her and Patrick go back and forth on their relationship. Drives me up the wall. Figure it out already.

wareaglekd -> RE: The most annoying character on a soap opera (6/26/2008 4:27:28 PM)

Just curious (since I don't watch GH anymore), is Robin played by the same person who's been on there since she was a little girl? k

Roberta_ -> RE: The most annoying character on a soap opera (6/27/2008 12:05:27 AM)

I was going to ask the same question.

uncabeeil -> RE: The most annoying character on a soap opera (6/27/2008 8:24:26 AM)

Yes, she's still played by Kimberly McCullough (sp?). And she still looks like she's about 16.

I had to think about my choice for most annoying because there are so many choices. Susan Lucci really aggravates me because you can tell she's just phoning it in. She's been absolutely horrible for the past 3 years. But my nomination goes to Marcie on OLTL. She's whiney, self-centered, greedy, and the actress who plays her sooooo overacts that there oughta be a law. The new Babe on AMC runs a real close second.
