Metro Prayer for June 6, 2008
Pray that the Lord would use Desert Ministries http://www.desertministries.org/
a ministry to the elderly, to expand his love to the weak and, many times, forgotten people in nursing homes.
Pray for the faith community, in particular the leadership, that they will be responsive to the needs of frail elders.
Pray for a successful "Answer the Call" phonathon, June 2-13, 2008 .
Psalm 71:18 Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your might to all who are to come.
With schoolchildren at home and parents feeling the strain of rising gas and food prices, local food pantries are scrambling to feed those newly in need. And the rising demand at food pantries is being met by a slumping supply, in that food donations aren't coming in as frequently. Pray that the Lord would abundantly supply the pantries during these difficult days.
Psalm 22:26 The poor will eat and be satisfied; they who seek the LORD will praise him-- may your hearts live forever!
With school closed for the summer we want to remember the children in prayer. Summer can be a time of temptation and disaster as many of the children are unsupervised. Ask for safety and wholesome activities in which to participate. Also pray over the vacation bible schools sponsored by area churches that they would have record breaking attendance and a great anointing over their programs.
Psalm 34:11 Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
