true, still its way hard to build strength(Except for the first month or two) with HIIT with weights. just like me on the squats, if i dont do them quick your aerobic system will give out before your unaerobic which makes you use less weight.

anyway..

I would echo Christain Iron in eating 5-6 times a day. I got plenty of ideas on what to eat, and how to eat off of body building websites, and it did the trick and I have stuck with it. After 3 babies....I even have a nice ab strip. (Old Bodybuilding Saying...."Abs are made in the kitchen".) You can "out eat" your workouts.

Also-it is not uncommon for "newbies" to both burn fat and build muscle. Initially I rotated cardio and weight training. (One day upper body weight training..next day cardio....next day lower body weight training...next day cardio...). I rested one day a week. That's what got my weight and sizes down. I used a combination of dumbell exercises and bodyweight exercises, as well as resistance bands for weight training.

My program was loosely based on "Body for Life for Women" which I highly recommend.

These days I still lift 3 days a week-sometimes I combine cardio or do cardio on a different day depending on the schedule. Now with school almost out...I will have to readjust as the kids will be home full time. So I will take them with me swimming at the gym, and weight train at home or at night at the gym depending on work schedule.

HisLamb, you really liked BFL For Women? I started out on BFL (Bill Phillips); I thought BFL for Women was a really poor imitation. I'd love to compare notes, though. Mine's definitely been a long learning experience. My absolute struggle is and has always been this layer of fat on my belly - it's just where I carry it, I guess. I'm really trying to fine tune my diet now (carb cycling). I'm seeing a lot of progress but still feel like I've got so far to go.

Hi csl7037,
Yes-I liked BFL for Women. I didn't read the original BFL though so I can't offer a compare and contrast.

Seems belly fat is a problem area for many women. I understand post menopause it doesn't get any easier. Pamela Peek calls it "the menopot".
