Millions of dollars was bet on Big Brown today. His jockey pulled up and at last report no physical injury could be found on the horse. Was the fix in? What do you think conspiracy buffs?

I would never have thought of it until you mentioned it. I have never witnessed a horse like him and was very surprised at the finish, to say the least.

It does seem a bit strange that he finished last. He (Big Brown) is one powerful horse that I can only compare to Secretariat.

I am very grateful, regardless, that he was not injured as I saw Barbaro and the filly in the Kentucky Derby fall. Made me cry.....both of them.

The Big Guy suffered a small crack in his hoof in training this week. Aparently, he pulled up and the jockey was smart enough not to push him.

I just saw an interview on the local news. The trainer said that Big Brown is NOT injured. He just ran out of gas. I'm not sure I buy that excuse.

He still had so much gas (umph) left at the end of the Preakness that I am not certain I buy that excuse either..

For those of you who believe it was fixed, what was to be gained by throwing the race.

If the horse had won and secured the first triple crown in thirty years:

the horse's stud value would have skyrocketed
the trainer/jockey's earnings would have skyrockted
the track had nothiing go gain since the payout was fairly low,

I don't really think it was fixed. I think, more than anything it was Big Brown's trainer's arrogance[:@] I never have quite seen anything like it.

BTW, the horse is already sold for 50 million. They bought him for 180,000.

Gamblers would gain the most by fixing the race, especially because of all the money that was bet on Big Brown to win. Don't forget, gamblers fixed the 1919 World Series.

It still boggles my mind. I mean if anyone saw that horse run in the Preakness, especially that aireal view - it was unbelieveable! He made it look like the other horses were standing still!

and then to see what happened yesterday....

Now they are using the excuse that maybe he didn't like the tract - that it was too deep or something like that[8|]

But the odds on the horse was fairly low and had a low payout. I believe most individuals purchased a ticket so they could have a ticket from the first Triple Crown in thirty years.

(I saved all my four ticket stubs from the 06 Stanley Cup and had then put in the matting around the headline of "Canes Reign."

My theory is that Big Brown's trainer read the sports section aloud every day. Big got complacent and ate too many Twinkies and Big Macs.

I wish I had a dollar for every horse that ran away with the Derby and/or the Preakness and then tanked in the Belmont. The race is a full quarter mile longer. That may not sound like much, but it's enough to do in some pretty spectacular horses over the years. Brown was running third through the entire race til he pulled up, but you could tell he was never going to catch the winner. I give the jockey a lot of credit for realizing his horse didn't have it and pulling him up instead of trying to whip him back into a race he could not have won.

I agree about the track being longer. Plus, the jockey had to gumption not to run a horse harder that may have been injured.

I don't think it was a fix.
