And we want to trust Congress to run our health care when they can't run a restaurant?

Privatize government cafe...good. Privatize anything else in government....bad.

Confused? So am I.

What really gets me was Feinestine saying that unless they privatize, the Senators would have to pay 25% more for their food. Gee...Looks JUST LIKE SS, Medicare, ect. It is sad that when it comes to THEIR money, they will do anything to keep it. But when it comes to the average citizen Joe's money, citizen Joe does not matter as long as the government gets control of it.

Another thing that bugs me is the percentage of milliionares in the Senate? And they can't pay for their own chow?

Where does it say that they don't pay for their own food? In fact, the article says just the opposite - that prices would go up 25% if the service wasn't privatized and that this new company would give a cut of the profits back to the Senate. You can't make a profit w/o charging money.

What the article did say was that the current management operated w/o concern for making a profit.

The point is Dan, that Congress, specifically the majority of Dems and moderates in Congress, resist efforts to privatize things like Social Security, but the second THEIR money is at sake, they jump to privatize their cafe so THEY dont have to pay more. Regardless on how the current management ran things, the fact they would rather privatize the cafe instead of paying more is rather revealing. Again, especially in light of their resistance to privatize anything else.

If it was their money at stake, wouldn't they just raise subsidies for the Senate dining room?

I think it's a little more complicated than that.

I say they should all take the time to pack a lunch from home eat it at their desks and get on with the work that the voters hired them to do.

The one thing that I noticed was that the senate just cannot do anything right.

They say they want to privitize it, but are going to require the private company to pay the present employees the same monies, etc. that they are recieving now.

As for me I vote that they should "Brown Bag" it like I do.

The government couldn't successfully run a brothel and make money off of it why should this surprise anyone?

There was once a senator who was walking down the street of Washington D.C.. Was trying to cross the street, in which he was sadly hit by a truck and died. He ran into St.Peter which he thought he had gone to heaven. Who said tothe senator" that they were trying out something new and that he would spend 24 hours in hell and 24 hours in heaven. After that he could decide where he was going to spend eternity. " The senator said "will I have decide to stay in heaven." Peter said "no this is something you should check out".

So Peter and the senator went to a elevator and the senator enter and down he went. When the doors open he saw was a beautiful golf course and some of his deceased fellow congress people at a club house. They were eating lobster and drinking champagne laughing tell at how they had lied and stolen from the tax payers. The played around of golf and went back to the club house to eat some more. Satan was there and dancing and telling jokes and having just a good old-time. The senator was having such a good time that he didn't realised that the twenty-four hours had passed. He got into the elevator which brought him up to heaven. When the doors open he notice that there were people who were on clouds playing a harp and being very contented. Eating steak and drinking Ambrose wine.

Those hours soon passed by and Peter came back to him and said "Well have you made up your mind where you going to go. The senator said" Well to put it mildly I didn't realise that there was so much fun in hell". So I guess I say that I want to spend the rest of eternity in hell." So Peter took him over to the elevator and it went straight down. Except this time when the doors open he notice that his friends where picking up trash and is very aried place. He notice satan over a little ways away. Which he went to talk to satan and said to him" when I was here yesterday this was a golf course and we were eating lobster and drinking champagne. " Now it is a dump and very warm, what happen?" Satan said "yesterday we campaigned, today you voted."

What we need to do is remove as many as possible out of there jobs. All I have been hearing out of politians mouths for over 36 years. That they are going to make it better for all of us. Yet it hasn't happen yet. It is the worst it has everybeen. For the average person and not looking to good in the furture with handling everything.

I pray Lord hear my cry please come quickly.

It looks like more than a few of them could afford to miss a few lunches altogether...or buy an apple and a bottled water from the vending machine.

Wonder how much money and how many calories that would save?
