Elena, I am Facebook ignorant, so what is a "Facebook flair avatar"? Also, what is a "portmanteau" of a screen-name? Sorry, and thanks.

Well... The minister of music who was at my church when I joined and his wife became like second parents to me. They nicknamed me "Sunshine" and it stuck. And, obviously, I'm a soprano. My screen names have had variants through the years on other boards and email addys such as sgsoprano, which everyone thought was "Southern Girl Soprano." They were close, but it was for "Southern Gospel Soprano." I also used to use sweetsong01 alot. Now it's just sunshinesoprano on here and on Yahoo!, too.

"Flair" is a button you wear (the reference is to a hilarious scene in the movie Office Space). Flair is also an application that runs in conjunction with Facebook. You can select images of buttons to put on your own virtual bulletin board, and you can send Flair to Facebook friends. FunBetty and some others have taken images of those virtual buttons and made them their CW avatars. (That's where I figured the images came from, at least.) Gotta love dictionaries. Webster's is my fave. The word portmanteau means "a word or morpheme whose form and meaning are derived from a blending of two or more distinct forms (as smog from smoke and fog)." beside + herself = besiderself (and which is actually how a lot of us pronounce the original phrase; clever screen-name creation!!)

Don't remember. I think it had to do with the fact that all my nicknames had been used by someone else, so I chose musicfan69 because I like music and was born in the summer of 69.

ORIGINAL: Elena1030 Elena is Spanish for my middle name, Elaine. 10 = October, my birth month 30 = the day of October, on which I was born And on an unrelated note - I am LOVING all the Facebook flair avatars, y'all!!! I need to pick out one para mi! besiderself, I love your portmanteau of a screen-name!! =) And your flair is faboo! Is it related to any particular pop culture reference? (Sounds really Stargate SG-1 to me. Totally General O'Neill.) Hey, Elena; I'm sorry I didn't answer your post sooner...I don't poke my head in this thread very often. I saw Pammy's question concerning your post and went back to look. I don't know which flair I had up that particular day...I think the very first one I used was "Operation 'this will likely end badly' is a go". And I think my son did say it was some sort of movie reference. I just thought it was funny. Kind of like some of my hairbrained schemes. besiderself

For me it's a simply a reminder ~ "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." Galatians 2:20

Bridgitt is my anglicized name. I had to add a "t" at the end as Bridgit was already taken. The name portmanteau was mentioned earlier. In french the word portemanteau - with the additional e in the middle - means coat hanger.

Just joining this thread -- hope it's still active. I picked my screen name because I love cats (I'm down to two right now, Savannah and Delilah). But catwoman and catlady seemed a little cliched, and at the time I was pretty obsessed with Highlander: The Series (Jim Byrnes as Joe Dawson -- woof!), thus CatLass was born.
