I am trying to locate a few gospel singers to get permission from them to record their songs.
I am having a difficult time. Can any one give me advice?

The Singing News website has a "links" section that can link you to the websites and e-mails of hundreds of artists.

Having said that, you need to seek permission from the owner of the rights to the song, not usually the same entity as the singers.
