There is nothing like a good roasted corn on the cob from a fair. With tons of butter and salt! A friend of mine from California, who is married to a Mexican man, puts mayonaise on her corn on the cob. She said that she thought it was the most disguisting thing, but when she was at her in-laws they all put mayo on theirs, so she tried it & loved it. Also, in Georgia, there are several Mexican trucks that sell Roasted Corn on the cob & they do the same thing.

How do you cook your corn on the cob and what do you put on it?

Boy, I'm hungry!!!

I boil it but might try grilling it. Yum!

Butter and salt!

I microwave mine for 3 minutes per ear.

I spritz on some I can't believe it's not butter spray and pepper. (no salt or butter for me!)

77 calories of yumminess!

I like it best grilled with butter, salt, and lots of pepper. Boiled or homemade creamed corn scraped off the cob is very yummy, too.

The only time I dislike about corn is when it's that frozen, mushy mess. [:'(] If it's fresh, you can count me in!

I love it plain and simple esp when it's a lil sugary/sweetish!

I never heard of putting mayo on corn but it sounds like it would be good. I'll have to give it a try.

My former father-in-law would do that.

I like my corn on the cob uncooked or boiled. Even if it's boiled, I don't like it boiled for very long... really just a minute or so.

I didn't know you could eat it uncooked...

I usually boil it, but like it grilled.

I am allergic to milk, so was eating it plain (which is ok) but then tried olive oil & garlic salt which is AWESOME!

I didn't know it either until I saw someone eat it that way. She she ate it that way all the time. I tried it. The sweet corn tasted super sweet!!

I used to eat COC boiled with a bit of butter. After finding out how high corn is in the glycemic index (how fast sugar gets into the bloodstream) I am avoiding corn anything like the plague.

(you have any idea how much stuff has "corn starch," "corn syrup," etc. as fillers?)

Pat-rebel_lady -> RE: Corn on the Cob (6/25/2008 11:52:22 AM)

I boil it in water (not covered in water) that I add salt and a touch of sugar to, for 7 to 10 minutes; pour off the water and cover it with Cold water; to stop the cooking process and seal in the flavor; and immediately remove to platter. I also melt butter or margarine to be painted on the corn on the cob, as one prepares to eat it. My dh uses a knife to cut down the center of the kernels of corn before eating it; he says it's easier to chew and digest.

Good information; thank you!! I would say that we all need to remember Not to do anything in excess --- but a few times a year to satisfy our taste buds cravings can't hurt us.

HisCovenant -> RE: Corn on the Cob (6/26/2008 9:48:48 AM)

I accidently ate it raw once by undergrilling it (it was a tad warmer than room temp fresh off the grill,) and it was wonderful.

I don't eat it often, either. There are so many other veggies with higher vitamin and lower sugar content!
