My nephew is 5 and has a very country drawl. His sister is 4 and loves Hannah Montana. One day while my niece was jabbering to him about Hannah, he furrowed his brow and said, "you always talkin' 'bout hannah montana this and hannah montana that.......you ought to be thinkin' 'bout the LORD!!!!"

Afew days later his mom asked him about his less than stellar behavior at school...

Mom: You have to be good all week long so you can go on your field trip.

Son: I was good two days!

Mom: But you were on yellow three days, and you have to be good all five days.

Son: 5 DAYS! I ain't Jesus!

Our 19 month old is talking a LOT. Not full sentences (other than wandering the house yelling "WHEREDITGO?" when she's looking for someone), but she gets her point across.

We went out to our favorite Chinese place a few weeks ago. We were eating, when suddenly there was a crashing noise from another room, probably someone dumping plates into a soaking tub too roughly or something. She looked around startled, then yelled "UH OH!!!!" The entire restaurant cracked up.

She was playing "horsie" on hubby's back while he was lying on his stomach, jumping up and down enthusiastically. He was being silly and said "Oh no, I think you broke my seventh vertebrate!" She stopped bouncing, leaned way over so she could see his face, looked at him quizzically, and said "What?!" The inflection was perfect. haha

My mom's favorite kid story has to do with a somewhat rambunctious little girl in her 3-4 year old sunday school class. The pastor came down for a special gospel lesson with them, then asked each of the little ones "so, do you want to go to heaven, (name)?" Every child was saying "Yes!" until he got to this little girl, who vehemently said "NO!" "But Jesus will be there, don't you want to go to heaven?" "NO!!!" "Well, why not?" "Cuz mommy says that I can't go anywheres without her permission, and since you have to DIE to get there, there's no way she will let me!" Apparently, she had gotten in huge trouble for wandering off by herself after church the previous week, and had had quite the talking to. hehe
