Because I told him to, that's why.

I slay me.

You slay me too! I'll follow your lead. I'll march right up to him and set him straight. "Listen Buddy. You know it's only a matter of time. Let's get this show on the road and get hitched." That ought to work, right?

I can see no reason why it wouldn't. Guys are always wondering how to tell when we're interested in them, right? That ought to clear things right up.

Bug Lady, it's a term that goes back all the way to Victorian times, referring to a man that could be in an ad for shirt collars, simply meaning that a man is very handsome.

I guess today's equivalent is when we say, "She's sooo pretty, she could be a model."

What's nice about you? What do you have to offer your husband/wife? I don't mean stuff like you make a great pot roast or you tell great jokes. What is special about you?

And I will repeat, why not?

My quick answer is because I'm over 40, fat & have two kids. I have full custody of my two kids which makes me, what has been labeled, as a "package deal".

I have some very good qualities; a deep and abiding faith grounded in Jesus, generosity, warmth, sweetness, compassion, humor and I'm tattoo free! ( See my humor?! )

But I'm gonna bottom line it - I'm just not that interesting.

Actually, I think that slang term refers only to a specific kind of tattoo - those on the lower back. And Gary is right - the term comes from pop culture, not Christian circles. Though that doesn't change the fact that many Christians disdain tattoos in general.

Personally, I'm not fond of tattoos, but that's just a matter of my aesthetic taste, nothing more. I don't believe the mere presence of a tattoo even qualifies as a warning flag, much less a deal-breaker. (Though as Gary noted if the actual content of the tattoo were ugly and/or offensive that'd be a different story.) Again, if someone were to be so judgmental as to pass you up simply because you had a tattoo, that's their loss. Not on you.

Thanks! I had an inkling it meant something to that effect, but I'd never heard it before.

Why would someone marry me?
I can cook/bake (and very well too), love staying home cleaning house taking care of kids and a garden and raising livestock.
I'm passive/submissive to the point I let people abuse me (though I am working on this one, becoming politely assertive and setting boundaries and such).
I can adjust patterns to sew men's shirt to an individual's actual size, not just the store bought size.
And I think studying/discussing religions and how to live out Christianity is a great pastime.

Why someone wouldn't want to marry me?
I'm divorced.
Have two sons.
And my ideas as far as Christian life and relating to the world don't fit any commonly accepted denomination/non-denomination.

EXCELLENT!!

I personally don't want a tattoo, so I won't get one. I have friends who have them, they don't stop being my friends because they have a tattoo. I didn't reject them as a potential friend because I saw they had one.

But we are geting off topic so I'll hush . . . . . . . carry on!

Because I'm me. And there's nobody like me in the whole world!

Seriously, I could list a lot of stuff and probably, that might make me seem a little concieted (which I am far from). But I'll just list the one I think is the most important.

I mean you well.

Love? Folly?

Mom always said I was "collar-ad handsome," but I doubt she was the most objective of observers.

I've never heard this term. What's collar-ad handsome mean?

It's from the days when shirts came with detachable collars and catalogs had collar ads in the back. It means "handsome enough to advertise collars."

Like these guys.

Though I've made great strides in self-improvement the past few years, no woman is interested in dating, it seems.

I could see a woman marrying me for U.S. citizenship.

I once had an offer of marriage for Canadian citizenship. She was cute, too.

I'm not debt free, but I am current on all of my bills.
I'm a lousy driver, but I'm great on horseback. (I'm used to driving off-road and have a tendancy to drive the same way on-road.)
My cooking isn't fatal.
I'm not repulsive to look at and when I clean up and put on my Sunday go to meetin' feed store hat, I'm almost attractive.
My truck is comfortable when I remove the tools, coveralls and Whopper wrappers. Oh yeah, and I'll need to balance and rotate the tires so it won't wobble at speeds over 50 mph.
There's some grass in the yard around my trailer.
My dog don't bite...always.
And I faithfully clean house twice a year whether it needs it or not.

So with all of that going for me, why wouldn't a lady marry me?

Shoot, where I come from I'm positively high class.

I honestly feel I have a lot going for me actually. I am attractive, and continually working on myself. I am smart and finishing my bachelor's degree to possibly even go on to a master's. I love my kids and would love to have more. I love being a mom. I learned a LOT from my first marrriage and have changed the things I know I did wrong (my marriage ended due to HIS many infidelities). I love doing new things and am very involved in my church. I would be very committed to the right man. I am loyal and caring and giving.

I think I am a pretty darn good catch! But alas, I live in a small town and there are NOT a lot of christian men around. And I need and want a christian man. so... I remain single

*sigh* Looks like I'm off the market again. Got me some new debt today. Car maintenance. Ah well, it was a great feeling while it lasted... ever so briefly.
