Hey, nothing wrong with being honest upfront about what you need!

lol, thx :)

Purely for the reason that I want more kids I want somebody younger.

Well, my younger sister is pregnant with her first at age 31. And no invitro or anything like that. She lives in NYC, and said there are quite a few women there older than her, having babies for the first time, naturally.

Plus, there is always adoption.

I'm not saying your reason is bad, but just keep in mind that a lot of not so young women do still want children.

derryderrydown -> RE: Age, height, etc. (6/15/2008 11:06:37 AM)

As you get older, the age difference becomes less important, but now that I am "older", I really wouldn't want a man much older, because I'm rarin' to go and don't want to be seeing my partner heading straight into old age. Men who are more than 5 years younger seem to be from another planet. The height issue is pertinent with me, as I am 5'10" and there seem to be sooo few men taller than I am. I love being tall, but don't care to appear "huge" next to a smaller man. But all that said, it's the person himself that counts.

betterisoneday -> RE: Age, height, etc. (6/15/2008 5:38:20 PM)

I would say (for me) a man no more than 10 years older or 5 years younger.
I don't mind shorter guys, but I wouldn't mind taller either. Actually there's never (that I know of) been a taller man attracted to me who was also decent. Wow, that's depressing now that I think about it. [&:] In fact I was often told that I'd never get married unless I shrunk at least a half a foot....[8|]

In general any couple with more than a 15 year range in age seems odd to me.

trainfan -> RE: Age, height, etc. (6/16/2008 11:47:10 AM)

I would say 10 years younger to 2 years older. I guess I never thought of myself with someone more than a few years older than me.

Height wise since I am 6 feet most women are shorter. But don't think I would be interested in someone who was taller than me. [&:]

John_O -> RE: Age, height, etc. (6/16/2008 11:58:00 AM)

Age: she should be at least 5 years younger down to about 15 years younger. (I would like to have more kids too)

Height: from 5'4 or so to 5'8 or so but a little to either side is OK. In any event, shorter than me.

FunBetty -> RE: Age, height, etc. (6/16/2008 12:08:18 PM)

Height - I prefer taller. Being that I'm at 5'9" it weeds out the field a little. I'm not opposed to a shorter guy (i have dated a guy or two shorter than me by a couple of inches. it wasn't bad) but you asked for preference [8D]

Age - I prefer someone closer in age...generally up to 5 years on either side. But a lot of that is also factored on maturity levels, and where we are in life.

JustJeannie -> RE: Age, height, etc. (6/16/2008 1:44:55 PM)

My preferences. Of course, I prefer a guy taller than me, which isn't difficult since I am only like 5'2". Age is really not important, as long as we are compatible in a few ways. I want someone who enjoys the things I do, but is willing to teach me to enjoy the things that interest him. hmmm, I need to think more about this...

Konstantinos -> RE: Age, height, etc. (6/16/2008 5:41:33 PM)

age i dont care that much.

height i would. but im 6 feet so its hard to find girls taller than me.

but in the end both dont matter, so long as i find someone that has the more important things i doubt that i'd even care for these two.

ebony101 -> RE: Age, height, etc. (6/21/2008 3:41:14 AM)

I care plenty.

I like my guys taller than me and older than me too (though not much older) [:)]. That's my personal preference.

Women, do you care if a guy is taller than you?

Guys, do you care if a girl is taller than you?

Girls, do you care if a guy is younger than you?

Guys, do you care if a girl is older than you?

For both, how do you feel about large age differences in either direction?

I like my men to be taller than me. I was on a date one time and he was shorter than me. It felt very awkward. If we had chemistry, it would have been perfect. But we didn't, so it made it even more awkward.

I'm 19 years old. I like my men to be 19-25.
But overall, if I really like a guy, i don't care if they're taller than me or younger/older than me.
But those are just my preferences.

GrowinBaptist -> RE: Age, height, etc. (7/21/2008 1:09:20 PM)

Height? I prefer to be the short one. [:D] I like to be able to look up at a man literally as well as figuratively! As I'm 5'4" that's not too hard. Ha ha!

Age is a different ballgame, though. I agree with the idea that age doesn't necessarily determine maturity. (I know someone who is 49 and has the emotional maturity of a 17-year-old.) So based on that a large age span in of itself may not necessarily be a problem, but only if his/her heart is for the Lord first and foremost. However, if you are 30 and he/she is 50, you may get along famously...but what about having children? I think that stages in life need to be taken into consideration even if you mesh spiritually and emotionally despite the age difference.

Personally I have preferred men to be older than myself, even much older. However, I discovered that the young man I had lunch with recently is four years younger. And I was surprised to find that this didn't bother me. Granted, I don't know him very well, and this may or may not be a problem later. It seems that we are pretty even spiritually, but that remains to be seen. So, your personal preferences to age differences may change as YOU age! So, yes, it depends on where they are spiritually and emotionally as well as whether or not they share the same goals you do. Bear in mind that also that someone who is quite a bit older may express a desire to have children at the beginning...being caught up in the moment, so to speak...then later shange his/her mind after it's thought through. So make sure your communication is strong and honest. People have split over far lesser issues than having children.

scottiezsister -> RE: Age, height, etc. (7/21/2008 10:05:18 PM)

I am a female and I am about 6' on an average day, but with heels I can go up to 6'3 or more. My absolute preference is to have someone taller than me. I have dated guys a little shorter than me but they have been on the huskier side to kind of even things out. A short, skinny guy is out of the question. I feel like I would squash him if I hugged him! [:)]

shepherdkl -> RE: Age, height, etc. (7/21/2008 10:15:49 PM)

Pauly464, I agree as I am 6 foot 4 inchs tall, I don't find to many woman that are taller than me[:)], as for the age difference, I usually date within a 5 year window either way.

Tinkerbell_ -> RE: Age, height, etc. (7/21/2008 10:23:34 PM)

Yeah...all these tall guys...*sigh*

To a short woman it's definitely swoon worthy. [;)]

sunshinesoprano -> RE: Age, height, etc. (7/22/2008 11:26:19 AM)

It'd be hard to find a dude shorter than me...I'm 5'4".

I don't like younger guys, mostly because the guys my age and I don't have anything in common.

That and most of the guys my age look right past me.

I tend to like the experience, maturity, and self-assuredness that older men have. They know what they want and aren't generally as self-absorbed as the men my age I know.

I remember thinking the same thing when I was your age, SSS. I was what they called an "old soul". Sometimes, we just have to do something different... if we don't have anything in common, we find something in common. I was acting like an old married woman because I thought I had to since I was raising a kid. After a while, I said "enough" and changed a lot of things. I didn't change who I was inside, but I let "myself" shine through a little more and stopped holding back (i.e. hiding). Girl, you've got so much goodness in you, but you've got to let others see it. You say you don't have anything in common, but I"m sure you do if you broaden your scope just a bit. I've got a few interests that I rarely talk about here because others don't share this interest and it's not easy to talk to myself about it. (Guys, if you're a herpetologist or ornithologist, please see me!!) So I talk about other things that interest me too... I have quite a variety of interests. But what's interesting is that when I scanned a few profiles on a dating site, I found a herpetologist!! We had little else in common, but still, they're out there. I just have to keep looking.

BugLady -> RE: Age, height, etc. (7/22/2008 12:12:05 PM)

I'm almost afraid to ask. What's a herpetoligist, GNM?

You don't wanna know. [;)]

Ok, proceed with caution: a herpetologist is one who studies reptiles: snakes, lizards, turtles, etc.

According to Wiki, a Herpetologist is a zoologist that studies amphibians.

Wiki makes me so smart!

I am 6' with heels and I prefer someone that is at least 6'. I am attracted to a clean shaved head or the silver foxes. A funny date with someone 5'7 'ish.... After dinner he took me to a shoe store and suggested I wear heels no higher than 2". I looked at him and laughed!
