OH!!!! And you know what is often worse?!?! The well intentioned, busy bodies of the church assuming that every single, visitor is The One. Poor guy hasn't even attended a second church service/event and the women already have a wedding date planned. So I apologize in advance to any poor single guy who graces our church doors. Be forewarned.

LOL! This just made me smile.

I think the guys got that memo!! That's why they never came to my last church. [:D]

Hmmm, I guess college wasn't necessarily expected of me because I was single, but that is what I believe my parents thought even if they never expounded on it. I've been to college twice. My first experience was in Central Christian College in Moberly, MO. It turned out awful because of the religious beliefs of the school. I thought I was going to a nondenominational school and it turned out that they were Church of Christ and to me rather cultish. The second experience I had with college was this last fall and it was at a secular school. The experience was good, but I couldn't afford to return...So I guess the financial aspect of being single and trying to attend college is also difficult when you don't have enough funding...

Other than the school aspect...not much was pressured on me. I think the schooling was just a way to get me into the world, or so my parents thought.

Many people don't realize the advantages of being single. We have the perfect opportunity to devote the whole of ourselves to His Kingdom and to what He wants and desires. To delve into a relationship with Him and that to me is MOST important...

I am not going to lie and say, "Oh being single is just the greatest thing in the world." Because to me it isn't. But I can take advantage of the opportunity to get closer to my Maker, Jesus Christ.

I think people automatically assume that, since I'm divorced and in my 40s with kids and I'm strong and independent, that I'm a bitter man-hater.

At least that's the impression I get sometimes. [&o]

I'm just gonna follow you around and say "Ditto!" to all of your posts. LOL[:D]

Depends upon who is doing the pegging, I suppose. It's not only rude. It can be truly damaging to one's reputation. Not to mention hurting your chances of getting asked out. I used to work in a male-dominated career. I found out after I was no longer in the field, I was rumored to be a lesbian by *some*. I've always made a point of not discussing my personal relationships at work. It just seems to me when you do it gives people something to gossip about. But as I've learned, when you give them nothing, they'll come up with something anyway.

When I first started my present job, the married women thought I was married because 'I did not dress like a single person'. I took it as a compliment. The homosexuals thought I was a closeted lesbian.

When I have gone on cruises, married people have assumed I am gay until they actually have a conversation with me. After the conversation they decide that I am marriage material I start looking for single guys on the boat. The single guys have been 20+ years older than me or gay.

People just do not understand not being on a 24-7 man hunt.
