_CANCELLED_ -> On, in, and under the earth (6/15/2008 12:04:36 PM)

Another Bible passage I came across during one of my first studies was about 3 peoples--those on the earth, in the earth and under the earth. I've since found the one about 'on' and 'in' but I can't remember where I saw the one with all three. When I showed this to the instructor she couldn't explain why they'd emphasize the dead and buried twice. Does anyone know what specific passage this is?

are you sure that it wasn't:
so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
(Philippians 2:10)

The only thing I'm sure of is the on, in and under. Maybe it was just a specific translation that worded it this way but I'm almost positive I was reading the King James version from the start b'c I remember starting a new church when I moved and felt uncomfortable with the NIV. Thank you for your response. It's a possibility I suppose.

What I searched and cited was from the NASB (my translation of choice)

in the KJV:
And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. (Revelation 5:13 KJV)
.

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
(Philippians 2:10 KJV)

That must be it. Ok, I'll make a note of this. I can't believe how long I've been looking. LOL Thank you so much for your help. [:D]
