thank you all for your prayers and well-wishes!!! We are doing really well, so i thought i would post madisyn's birth story for you... contractions started saturday night around 11pm and kept me awake off and on all night. I didn;t go to church sunday and had a few contractions throughout the day. When I went to bed Sunday night they became a little more frequent... at 2am I began timing them and had to wake Michael up around 3:30 to help me. They were 4-8 minutes apart, so we headed to the hospital around 4:30am. At the hospital they checked me and said I was only 1 cm (my doctor had checked me last thursday and I was 1.5cm 90%effaced) but about 90% effaced. They had trouble registering my contractions on the monitor because (I found out later) I was having mostly back labor because her head was turned face-up. So they said I was not progressing and sent me home :( I had a scheduled doctor's appointment for 8:30am so we went home and slept for an hour and a half and headed for my appointment. (I was still having contrax every 4-7 min). My doctor checked and said I was dilated to 2cm and when we told him about our hospital visit he suggested I take tylenol pm and try to sleep and if I couldn't sleep through the contractions or they didn't go away to head back to the hospital. So, I slept for maybe 30 minutes off and on and we headed back to the hospital at 12noon. They still were having trouble seeing my contractions on the monitor and because I kept sitting up for the contractions (it hurt SO bad to lay down) the baby's heart monitor would slide around and not register correctly. They were concerned that about her heart rate and decided to go ahead and put an internal monitor on her which meant they had to break my water. I am SO thankful for this.. I don't think it was necessary, but if they hadn't done it, I would have been sent home and had back labor for a LONG time! They broke my water around 3pm and I was at 3cm. When they came to give me the epidural I was 4cm. The epidural was a lifesaver. After that I slept most of the afternoon and my husband got to watch his team play in the college world series... at 6:30pm I was 5cm and took an hour nap and at 7:30 I was 9cm!!! Wow! They began to get everything set up for delivery and my doctor arrived. I think I only pushed about 45 minutes. She was delivered face-up at 9:01pm. I had a lot of tearing because of her position... but I got to hold her for almost an hour before they took her to clean and weigh her :) I am in a good bit of pain from all the stitches, but it can't last forever and when I look at my beautiful baby girl it is all worth it!! We are breastfeeding and it is going really well. It too is a bit painful, but we are getting through that! Thanks again for all your prayers...
