ORIGINAL: Kerrlaw1 Attention medical types. Mrs. K had a biopsy on her leg about 10 days ago. (everything was OK). The four stitches were taken out Wednesday. The nurse said since it was not completely healed she put steri-strips on it and said to keep on until they fell off. Well they fell off, leaving an open wound, which we covered with a large band-aid. It is not bleeding through the bandage. Should we go to the ER tonight or tomorrow, or is it ok to wait and go to the doctor's office on Monday? Do you have an all night drugstore close by? You should be able to buy more steri-strips that you can put on tonight if you do. If you go in, they might leave it open just to heal from the inside out. That would leave a scar most likely.

I would agree with Ruth. If it isn't bleeding or any other discharge I would just keep a bandaid over it until Monday and call the doctor's office that did the biopsy. If it looks red or hot to touch then go first thing in the morning and have them look at it.

Thanks for the advice Drs. Giz and Lynn. We will get steri-strips and wait until Monday if nothing bad happens.

You can get the equivalent of steri-strips at a drug store, but if it opened back up again, (even if it's not bleeding) and you don't feel comfortable closing it up, I would recommend not waiting until Monday. I know if you wait too long, they won't be able to close it up (through stitches or whatever) and the healing process will take much longer - not to mention I'm sure the scarring will be much worse.

Should we go to the ER tonight or tomorrow, or is it ok to wait and go to the doctor's office on Monday? Hey Mike got your post request over in geezer and it took me awhile to find the post you mentioned. My first question is when did you notice the wound open after the steri-strips fell off...was it today? Is the would showing any signs of infection or pain. Look for signs of redness, heat, swelling, even red streaks leading away from wound. If none of that is showing presently then apply triple anitobiotic ointment to wound (only if Mrs. K is "not" allergic of course) and you can place more steri-strips to area (you can get them at the larger all night pharmacies). Since I'm not able to see the size, depth, and location of wound. I recommend you going to ER first thing tomorrow morning; however, if she has symptoms from the above list I mentioned you should go tonight. Overall if it were me or my loved-one, I would NOT wait until her doctors appointment on Monday. I hope this helps ya some. Please PM me as much as you need to and keep me posted on her condition as well. Praying for ya'll my brother!

. Kerr . . . representing the homeopathic community, I highly recommend getting some calendula cream and putting it on the wound. * * * WARNING * * * DO NOT READ THE REST OF THIS POST IF YOU HAVE A WEAK STOMACH Back in 1985, I completely severed my fingertip of my right hand's forefinger. Severed as in part of my finger was no longer attached my finger . . . and the bone was protuding. I threw the severed part in the trash and covered my wounded finger in calendula cream and then wrapped a gauze bandage around everything. I changed dressings and bandages about 2-3 times a day. People told me everything from I would loose my entire finger, to my fingernail would not grow back, to my finger would never function again. A couple of months later, I almost completely severed my pinkie finger on my left hand ("almost" as in my pinkie finger ending up laying down the side of my hand and the top of my pinkie was touching my wrist bone). Again, I slathered the wound in calendula cream and covered it in gauze bandages (and then taped my pinkie finger to my ring finger). And again, people told me I was going to lose the finger or at least lose the function of the finger. It is now 23 years later and I'm very happy to announce that I neither lost either of those fingers nor did I lose any function in either of those fingers . . . both my thumbs and all 8 of my fingers are quite very functional. Plus all 10 of those such digits grow nails like weeds (even my forefinger that I severed almost past the fingernail bed). On my forefinger, I have a scar that is so miniscule, I can barely see it; it's so small, it could be measured in millimeters. On my pinkie finger, I have a scar that is about an inch long but almost invisible. The only "noticeable" thing about my pinkie is that it leans a little to the left . . . but very little . . . and no, that wasn't a political statement / BTW . . . this story probably is very telling as to why people call me Grace. .

On another note . . . Given the joy you get out of incomplete topic titles, I thought of you a few minutes ago as I reading down the list of current topics and saw: "Is there a "Bad" safe mod" (This is a topic over in Computers & Technology and the full title is, "Is there a "Bad" safe mode?")

ORIGINAL: zmanfan38 Is there any chance you know when Pirates Who Don't Do Anything will be out on DVD? Not until the fall I think. But, their next "regular" DVD is releasing next weekend (July 12th). It is called "TOMATO SAWYER & HUCKLEBERRY LARRY'S BIG RIVER RESCUE." A real must for Veggie fans as well as intellectual types who like Mr. Mark Twain's work. zzzzzzzzzzz Kerr -- you have to get this one!!!
