A local man has started a campaign to bring a Costco to the Knoxville area. People are signing petitions online.

Does anyone know anything about Costco?

Good stuff - especially if you like buying mayo in 10# buckets.

Get ready though for long lines and no service.

But they pay well and seem to have low staff turnover and they do have good stuff.... And you can get some really good deals (although not always).

I'm glad we have one but I hate going there.

I am not superstitious at all, and don't have any specific things that I wear to court. I do always wear my Mickey Mouse watch and my law school class ring, but I wear them all the time anyway.

I like using things that I've had for a long time. Cindy gave me the watch 20 years ago and I've worn it every day since. It is the Seiko anniversary edition Mickey. I have a Cross mechanical pencil that I have used on an almost daily basis for over 30 years. Once, I thought that I had lost it, but found it in a file months later.

I grew up on KFC cole slaw (aunt and uncle ran two stores) and it's good, but my favorite cole slaw is Long John Silvers.

Red Lobster has the BEST cole slaw!!!!

Surprisingly (since I have probably eaten at Red Lobster as much as anybody on the Forums) I have never had their cole slaw. I always get a salad (no croutons, extra tomato, bleu cheese dressing). Maybe someday, if I have fried catfish. Now I'm getting hungry.

How about some baked spaghetti...I have plenty left over!

Important for making cole slaw.

I don't like shopping at Sams. There are things that I might buy in bulk, but they never seem to have the brand/type that I use. And I don't buy food in bulk.

My idea of a nice looking fridge is ice, condiments, and whatever you can eat in two days. Probably a holdover from years of being a bachelor. Mrs. Kerrlaw, on the other hand, likes to stock both the fridge and the cupboards.

It's an ongoing battle. I think that either side can support their position Biblically.

I don't go to Sam's or Cosco's because I don't buy a lot of items in bulk. But if someone is buying massive quantities people like them.

I just can't eat that much of one thing to buy in bulk (aside from the bulk box of Reeses PB cups that I recently bought at Costco ). When it's just you, it's a struggle for stuff not to go bad - even the stuff that keeps forever...

My erstwhile MIL got me a giant container of chocolate covered raisins from Costco (or Sam's I don't know which) for Christmas last year.

Yeah, she loves me.

I work for Kroger so I can't say a whole lot good about Costco and a whole lot less about Wal-Mart. But if they built a costco in Knoxville maybe it would help put a Kroger closer to home maybe. The nearest one for me is Dalton.

I do shop at Sam's. With 2 cats, buying kitty litter and food enough to feed them for a week or so... its a savings. We also tend to buy meat there and divide the large packages into individual meals for our family and freeze it. We have a deep freeze and 2 regular refrigerators with freezers in them. Manchild loves Bush's baked beans so I buy them there by the 8-pack. They have Kona coffee there which is pretty good. I don't buy a lot of canned items because we buy fresh veggies and can them ourselves or we have this year. We still have stuff left over from last years garden. I also buy computer paper and office supplies there. Its much cheaper.

Good morning, friends!! Found a spare minute to pop in and say hello.

I haven't been to a Sam's in years. I don't have enough $$$ to buy anything in bulk----just get enough stuff to last us 'til the next payday. And these days, it would be coming up with the gas $$ to drive 20 miles to get there!!! But if they built one here in town, I'd consider getting a membership.

I miss y'all!! I'll be back again soon. to y'all!!!

Avec le Sourire: Y a du Bonheur Pour Tout le Monde -Le Chapeau de Zozo?

La Fête a Neu-Neu?

Quand J'Entends C't'air des Dolly Sisters (Syncopation on the Brain)?

It's good to see everyone again. I have a couple of short work days since Doc is on vacation and I'm just going in to catch up on paperwork and phone calls...........and breathing. And this weekend I'm off to visit a grandbaby (and his parents ).

And then there are those life changing upheavals that just throw everything off, ya know?

But I do miss y'all.

We miss you too Mona.

But I was thinking of a different song, one that he did is English.

Mona, I think of you OFTEN.

Quite often, in fact.

Very good to see you popping in.

"Life-changing upheavals"
Are these good things or not (specifically to your life and the specific events)?

Enjoy grandbaby visiting this weekend!

"life changing upheavals"---------all good stuff, just changes. Getting ready to send one son off to college out of state, and the youngest to local college and preparing for his high school graduation (he'll be doing concurrent enrollment this year)...and he's my BABY!!! Added responsibilities at work, and finding just the right program to begin my education after the first of the year. Which reminds me---what have you found so far for a nutritional program?

I still like the idea of you and I being on campus together and starting our own sorority. That just sounds like fun!!!!

I totally know what you're saying; however, I was reading this thinking, Is this an endorsement or not? I'm not familiar with Costco though I think I've heard of it so I guess I don't have to worry about it. I don't prefer shopping period but it is necessary sometimes.

Sony...you sound like me and my love/hate relationship with Walmart!
If I have to shop then that is the first place I go especially for food and household items. Yet I hate going in there...it wears me out.
