I am from Kansas where crops are grown on large flat sections of land and harvested by large combines.

I live in East Tennessee, where corn is grown in the mountains on rocky hillsides and rendered into liquid for easy transport and sale.
Or into liquid beverage that the revenuers hunt down!!!

You mean that "Recipe" that the Baldwin sisters used to make on the Waltons TV show?

I never watched the Waltons, but I loved Spencer's Mountain, the movie which was the basis for the TV show, and watched it several times. It was one of my father's all-time favorite movies. He loved it when Clay gets the new preacher tipsy.

I think that the "elixer" made by the Mendlebright sisters on the Andy Griffith show was the same thing.

I'm not sure how much I will be able to post the next few days. Our son is on his way here right now with his two boys. Mrs. K has a full agenda, including Dollywood, Splash Country, the Rain Forest, movies, etc.

We are very proud of him. He has custody of his children, but they have been visiting their mother in Florida while he went to school in San Antonio for six weeks.

He has been named as the nominee from Edwards Air Force Base (California) for a big national honor. He also made the second highest score at the school he just attended in Texas and was recognized for this.

Never for more than a few minutes. I heard the "goodnight" stuff while waiting for another show.

I stunned Sharon-Marie.

As for me, I put the nutritional schooling on hold for a while . . .

I've had it on hold since 1971.

LOL! I almost started to include with that post, " . . . and I'm not stunned that often".

Enjoy while you can, Counsellor.

You have reason to be proud of this young man. There are so few that it is refreshing to hear of one that has done well for himself.

Very cool! You have reason to be proud. Enjoy your time with him and the grandboys.

I need to comment on the garage cleaning posts...
I've had a shock.
The GirlChild will be 16 in less than 6months.
She told me last evening that her Grandfather has been looking at cars for her.

I'm going to have to share my garage!!!

I worked on my garage too... And now my garbage bin is full and I have more to throw away... But, it looks MUCH better in there!

I often consider a full trash container a mark of success whenever I clean.

There's nothing like having a 2 car garage and actually parking a car in it!!! Please let me know how that feels...mine looks like a thrift store just blew up in it!

Kerr...tell your son I'm very proud of him...to be a single dad in the military and still manage to excel to that extent is really worthy of a lot of praise!!!!

When everyone else is out scraping the ice off their car windows when it's 25F outside, it's feels amazing.

From what I've heard of Grandpa, she may end up with the best car in the family.

Though I can tell him from experience, don't buy her an expensive car, as she will have at least three fender benders.

My two car garage is actually cleared out enough to get a car in it, not that we we would do something so mundane. We are laying out the home gym.

I have moved two of our five vehicles to the office, so we won't look like a car lot.

Thanks.

It is really amazing that he has done his Air Force duty well, finished college and worked on his Masters degree, and raised the boys almost without help.

I feel sorry for their mother, who will not see them for another year, but she brought it on herself.

Well, it'll be better than mine anyway. She said he showed her a beautiful periwinkle blue, 2007, convertible PT Cruiser. That'll beat out my 2002 Honda CRV for sure. I hope she lets me park it in the garage with her car.

I'm glad to hear about all this garage cleaning. Last year, one of the guys I dated had the unmitigated gall to voice his opinion about my messy garage. Yeah, it was bad but there's always been a Honda-shaped hole amidst the stuff.

Did I mention that I dated him VERY BRIEFLY?

I love my garage. It means I do not have to scrape ice or snow at 10 degrees. My garage has two bays. One for a car and the second which is perpendicular to the first is built for a boat. Since I don't have a boat, is where I keep my garden stuff and other stuff.

Plus an added benefit to doing this is that it will look like you always have a lot of clients . . . busy people are always high in demand doncha know.
