Thanks guys.

Good news: My mother made a delicious cake today and gave us part of it for supper.

Bad news: Another day of not having the cantaloupe.

I am sort of out of the mood of having ice cream with it, but I am anxious to try the pepper that so many have recommended. Maybe for breakfast.

People salt their watermelon and cantaloupe around here. I could never bring myself to try it.

I did eventually learn to salt and pepper my french toast though.

When strangers meet, great allowance must be made for differences of custom and training.

I usually don't add salt to anything, but I make an exception for boiled eggs. I mix up salt and pepper and "dip" the egg in it.

Most folks around here salt melons, cucumbers, tomatoes, etc.

I salt cukes & tomatoes. But even though one of my favorite tastes is sweet and salty together, I just never tried it on melons.

I do like cheddar cheese and sweet apples together. Not that that has anything to do with what we're talking about.

I salt cantaloupe, but not watermelon or honeydew.

Salt watermelon, cantaloupe, cucumbers, tomatoes, banana sandwiches.

Add pepper to all but watermelon.

I don't salt or pepper any of those. However, I love a splash of red wine vinegar on tomatoes & cucumbers.

Perhaps you share my affinity for chocolate covered pretzels?

Mrs. K has tried a new recipe a couple of times. You melt two large Hershey bars in a bowl in the microwave, then mix in a can of mixed nuts. Spread on wax paper on a cookie sheet and let harden.

For the holidays, we always melted almond bark and dipped the pretzels in that. Delicious!

Whats awesome is taking the candy Rolos and a bag of pretzels. Put a pretzel down with a rolo on it. Then pop into the oven for till it melts. Its yummy!

Oh, speaking of salty/sweet, it is very popular in the south to pour a little bag of peanuts in a bottle of Coke.

You get sweet peanuts and salty coke.

Have not done the peanut/coke thing in a long time. Have done it to many times to count. Tom's p'nuts to me were always the best for that.

Never have understood that...I mean coke has enough sodium in it to begin with!!!

Of course I'm not a Coke drinker...Pepsiholic is I!!!

I have heard of that.

My grandpa and I used to do that when I was a kid.

Did that many times as a kid. Nickle bag of peanuts and a dime 6 1/2 oz Coke what a treat! Just had to find 5 coke bottles to return for the deposit to get that treat without asking Mom for the fifteen cents. Good times in the mid 1960s

It will likely be before Thanksgiving... after that you won't be there... will ya?

I am not here Nov. or Dec. We do Santa photos the last 2 weekends in Oct. in Pigeon Forge.
Then we may be going to Lake Lanier... We'll figure that out then...

Come down to Lake Lanier Friday, Dec. 5 and join us in Powder Springs December 6 for a Southern Gospel Christmas with Brian Free & Assurance and Triumphant Qt. Think that is Lynn's plans also.

Yep...unless something dire and unforeseen happens or the Lord comes again...my family and I plan to be at Lake Lanier and Powder Springs that weekend!!! Any others thinking that far ahead??? (okay...I know that was a loaded question but try as you might to rise above and not go there)
