Hi Earthless,

Seen your reply to Lufia.

So it is OK to be a Christian and not have ANY gifts of the Holy Spirit at all?

Every true born-again believer has a (or more) gifts of the Spirit. Many just do not know what it is (what they are), etc.. and perhaps they are not known when someone is immature in their walk/faith.

This site HERE has a pretty decent page on your question. I am not overly familiar with that website, so I cannot vouch or do I stand with what is said in other areas of that website.

JimboFletch -> RE: Gifts of the Spirit (6/19/2008 4:47:44 PM)

There are more places that indicate every believer has one or more gifts of the Holy Spirit, but here is one:

As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
-1 Peter 4:10

Another:

So we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to exercise them accordingly: if prophecy, according to the proportion of his faith; if service, in his serving; or he who )teaches, in his teaching...
-Romans 12:5-7

Thanx Earthless.

I have checked the web link. Looking at the list of gifts it seems I have a few of those gifts mentioned there. I never knew about them as gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Thanx JimboFletch for your Bible references.

God bless.

Awesome - I was about to bring that point up.. what you were actually thinking were gifts of the Holy Spirit.

God bless you.

So based on the list posted earlier would the Believers in our forums have the gifts of exhortation?[:)]

EXHORTATION
A believer who urges other believers through advice, warning, admonishing, etc. to do what is right in Christ. They encourage others to run the race and continue in Jesus Christ. [Rom. 12:8]

Stronger2Day,

I guess you're right. Some might even call me being a pest for Jesus' sake!

Lufia -> RE: Gifts of the Spirit (6/19/2008 7:05:46 PM)

Did you look at the list that Scripture actually states?

Cloak -> RE: Gifts of the Spirit (6/19/2008 7:20:26 PM)

Every one has a special gifts and talents from God. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you in discerning them.

Write down an inventory of what you're good at and ask friends and folks you trust about your qualities. You will get lots of good feedback from them. Pray upon this list and in due time God would put you in situations where He would start using you for His glory.

Blessings!

Do not fear! Take Cloak's advice. There are also small workbooks available to help you ID them. They include questionnaires for your Believing family and friends to complete in order help you understand what your gifts are and what time of ministries might be right for you.

DaveW -> RE: Gifts of the Spirit (6/25/2008 9:41:26 AM)
