_CANCELLED_ -> Cremation vs Burial--Answers & Scripture needed (6/18/2008 7:12:20 PM)

Is there Scripture to support that the Heavenly Father is against cremation? If so, why does the Bible say 'Ashes to ashes, dust to dust...'?

There's a thread about this down in Morality and Ethics. I started it last summer because I was also curious ... beware because there are some really frightening (and upsetting) comments.

Edited to add link: here it is

Thank you for the link. It's a good read but you can't respond to it. [:(]

I don't recall that there is any portion of scripture that speaks against cremation. My mother-in-law whom I deem to be one of the godliest women I know has expressed her desire to be cremated. If the bible spoke against cremation I can tell you that she would not even consider it.

Now that being said, there are arguments out there that cremating the body is against God's plan. The biggest reason I have heard is because when the dead rise there won't be a body to rise. I don't know about you but my God is capable of doing anything and that includes recreating/reconstructing a body for me.

Good luck in your search.

LOL My main argument for that is if He can create this entire universe, He can put me back together from His Word alone. That's why I want to be cremated but my sister is very unhappy about that.

Thank you for your response.

That was a good read that other thread I wish it was open for posting in.

My father was just cremated but I personally want to be buried.

One thing to think about is what they actually do with a body when it is donated to science. I was reading an article about a body farm that a college had from bodies that were donated and what they did with the bodies is they would just put them out on the ground in different environments (some in water some in ditches etc.) and let them rot out in the open air and decompose to resurch what happens at the different ages of a body. I think this is an environment to create diseases and I wouldn't want that happening with my body so I wont donate my body to science.

Do we really think Abraham's body is still intact? I couldn't find anything in the Word against cremation.
