I would say, if you are trying to keep your salvation...you never had it.
SonInMe, I spent a long time after I became a Christian trying to keep my salvation, and living in fear of losing it. It was not at all that I never had it. What I'd never had at the time was maturity and understanding. I'm so glad I did have it, and that the Lord taught me, after He saved me, that He is able to keep me. I did not understand this when I came to Him, and thought I had to maintain my salvation by not messing up. He taught me different, but if I had read your statement during that time it would have sent me into a tizzy of fear, thinking I had to get saved all over again, because you'd said I "never had it."
