Matt, some of "us" dummies don't know how to do all of that![:D]

But do remember that if I can find some way to pick up your CD inserts and album covers, I'll be scanning them for the SG history website...and for you, since you could of course download them there. :)

Daniel, how do you scan LP covers? Do you just take a picture with a digital camera and put them on your computer that way? If that is how you do it, I can take pictures of all of mine and send them to you. I already scanned most of my CD covers and will be sending them to you eventually so you can put them on the site.

By the way, I am glad David Bruce Murray asked you to handle that area of the site instead of me. I don't have a clue as to that aspect of it! [:D]

No, you use a flatbed scanner. (A sheet-fed, that feeds sheets through like a fax machine, won't work!) That produces far and away the best quality, both for CD covers and for LP covers.

Do you have a scanner? If so, you scan the LP cover in four quarters (or two halves if it can do legal-size documents). Then you email all the scans to me, and I upload them to a file server for volunteers (well, I wish--just one right now, Matt Paasch!) to piece together.

I like scans in PNG format ideally, but I also accept TIFF and BMP. I don't like JPEGs, since their compression format loses image data and I'm thinking archival quality here.

Wow! That's much more complicated than I thought! I'll e-mail for more details because I have a bunch that we don't have on the site yet.

OK. Do you have a scanner?

Actually, that is most of the details; it doesn't get much more complicated than that.[:)]
