We're together 99% of the time that he's not at work. We don't talk all that time; a lot of the time we're sitting next to each other on the couch, each with our own laptops. [8D] But we're both introverts, so we enjoy being together even if we're not interacting with each other.

Usually we aren't in separate rooms of the house. If he needs to work on the downstairs computer, he'd like me to be down there. If he's watching TV, he'd like me to watch with him. If he's working outside, I like to hang out and watch. [sm=raisedbrows.gif]

This is my situation also. Only, we are in the same room while doing both. Even though we are "doing" other things, we are still together. If I find something interesting, I will share it with him and vise versa. Most of our weekends are spent doing other family things together.

My wonderful DH and I spend as much time together as we possibly can.

Of course, he is active duty military (a pilot), and his work often takes him away (he's deployed right now), so I am referring to spending time together when he's here.

It gets more difficult as one gets older. Really, we both come home exhausted from work, then I still do the traditional thing -- cook dinner. After that, I really just want to relax for the rest of the evening. I should not blame him -- I want the same thing he does, but he and I have very different taste in TV. What he watches bores me to death, and what I watch does the same thing to him. So he watches TV, and I get on CW.

It's really sad. I usually don't even have the energy to suggest that we two are wrong.

My hubby and I are together about 99% of the time (24/7). Reason why is that we also own and run a business together. We are truly each others best friend and work together wonderfully if not we couldn't do this business. We were talking about this very thing yesterday in Sunday School. Our lesson was on communication in marriage and how well we manage to work together, live together and are still exceptionally close. The rest of the class admited that they couldn't work together and not attempt murder. [:D] We rarely do anything without each other even grocery shopping. Needless to say, I am very blessed!

Hi Allison!

You and your husband sound just like my wife and me! We work together because she has a great head for business and organization, and I am good at the creative parts. We are together most of the time, even now! She is checking her email as I write! Then we will start to get ready for dinner since it's after 9.

My husband and I are together a lot!

He's my best friend, lover, teammate, and accountability partner. We spend every minute together that we can. Even if we are each doing our separate things, we are still in the same room.

jaimestarcross -> RE: Do you and your spouse spend a lot of time together (6/24/2008 11:39:21 PM)

I don't think there is a "norm"...

However it maybe a little much if you both want computers so you can chat together
online while being in the house together!
(it's pathetic but it's the only way I can get my hubby to write to me LOL!)

AngieCat -> RE: Do you and your spouse spend a lot of time together (6/25/2008 7:01:24 AM)

My hubby and I spend a fair amount of time together. We do have interests, such as friends, outside of the home, and I find that to be healthy for our relationship. We eat dinner together nearly every night and are home together most evenings although may be doing other things in the house. We haven't been married long, less than a year, so we haven't worked out the "right" balance just yet.

LOL, our computers are side by side and he sent me a kiss through the IM, just to see if I was paying attention [:D]

Now that I am home for the summer (I take the summer off from college), we are together all of the time. My husband works for a non-profit, so I volunteer at his office as well while he is working. His co-workers love having the both of us there. :) He continues to call me "honey" even though we're in a work environment and his co-workers think it's adorable. When we get home we often sit on our laptops, but we do it together sitting in the same room (and yes, we will chat, lol). This is what you get when two computer geeks get married. :D

I agree with this comment. There are a variety of situations that work well.

Outside of work, we spend most of our time together. There are some activities that we do with others, such as shopping. I hunt and she is not interested in doing that, but that is only during the fall and winter.

greatdivide46 -> RE: Do you and your spouse spend a lot of time together (6/26/2008 5:55:28 PM)

I would have voted Yes, all the time, but my wife works and I'm retired. So when she's at work we're not together, although I do go to work with her and volunteer where she works four or five times a month. So, we spend a fair amount of time together, but not all the time.

But I want to work on it. I think I really do. First, I will need to get his nose out of the TV and mine off the Internet. It's just that we have no common TV interest, and we are tired after work.

That's us. We have absolutely nothing in common except the show LOST, but he won't even watch that with me because it gets in the way of his computer games. I've tried to get him to understand that we should at least set a little time aside for each other, even if just to talk, but unfortunately he isn't interested in changing his ways right now. Some of my friends have the same experiences, so I wanted to see just how common it was.

So, what about when you first met, when you dated, when you were first married? What did you have in common then?

Jemtree -> RE: Do you and your spouse spend a lot of time together (6/30/2008 4:33:18 AM)

[:)] Hi, I am new to this forum. :) My husband and I spend tons of time together when he is not deployed. we are best friends. :)

Welcome JemTree...

Deployment is hard, the very best to you!

Thanks. :) I am pushing through, lol.

KPOP -> RE: Do you and your spouse spend a lot of time together (7/4/2008 3:01:14 AM)

HI THERE.

THIS IS END TIMES

SO MY HUSBAND SAYS

DURING THE END TIMES -- A LOT OF WORLD NEWS IS BEING HEARD

LOTS OF REFORM AND ESPECIALLY THE GLOBAL WARMING

LIKE FOR EXAMPLE IN THE AREA THAT I LIVE -- THE WEATHER USED TO BE ONLY 99 F THE HOTTEST --

NOW IT GETS UP TO 112 F

WELL TALKING ABOUT YOUR SPENDING TIME WITH SPOUSE

ME AND MY HUSBAND SPEND TIME ONLY AT HOME -- EITHER WHEN WE ARE EATING

OR DURING MY SPENDING TIME TOGETHER IN THE MORNING

WE SPEND SOME IM OUR BEDROOM FOR A QUICK CHAT OFF AND ON BEFORE AND AFTER DINNER

WE ARE BOTH PLANTING SEEDS --

SOMETHING TO INHIRIT OR REWARDS AFTER THE END TIMES

OF COURSE -- I HAVE NO EVIDENCE OF THE END TIMES -- ONLY THAT MY HUSBAND TOLD ME

ME SAYS -- THAT END TIMES IS ONLY FOR 5 MONTHS

I ASK HIM -- WHEN IS THAT 5 MONTHS WILL STARTS

HE SAYS -- HE DOES NOT KNOW

HE SAID -- THAT IF WE GET SEPARATED -- THAT I SHOULD NOT WORSHIP THE ANTICHRIST

AND THAT IF SOMETHING BIG IS GOING TO HAPPEN -- TO COME BACK TO THE TRAILER AND WAIT FOR HIM THERE

OR THAT WE BOTH HAVE CELL PHONES -- HE TOLD ME TO ALWAYS HAVE MY CELL PHONE

HE GETS MAD IF I DO NOT BRING MY CELL PHONE -- DUE TO HE CANNOT GET A HOLD OF ME

SO IF YOU PLAY THE LEADER IN YOUR HOUSEHOLD

LIKE THE MORE MATURE

I FEEL THAT YOU MAKE THE DECISION ON HOW MUCH TIME YOU SHOULD SPEND TOGETHER

BUT THEN EVEN MATURE WOMEN -- LIKE TO MAKE THEIR HUSBAND FEEL THAT THEY ARE IN CONTROL -- AND THEY ARE -- WHAT EVER GOD ALLOWS THEM

WE WOMEN -- WE LET OUR SPOUSE TAKE CARE OF US

SO WHY DON'T YOU LET YOUR HUSBAND TAKE CARE OF YOU

MY BROTHERS -- THEY WORK AND THEIR SPOUSE WORK

SO THEY DO NOT GET TO SPEND TIME TOGETHER A LOT

BUT THEY DO SLEEP TOGETHER OR IF THEY DON'T -- THEY ARE ALWAYS IN CONTACT

IT IS NICE -- EVEN IF YOU DO NOT SLEEP TOGETHER FOR A COUPLE NIGHTS -- THAT BOTH OF YOU ARE IN THE SAME ROOF

I DO NOT WORK -- BUT I VOLUNTEER DURING THE DAY

I CANNOT WORK -- I HAVE A DISABILITY WHICH PREVENTS ME FROM WORKING WITH PAY

MY MIND REALLY GETS BAD WHENEVER I LOOK FOR WORK OR PLAN TO GO TO SCHOOL

I CANNOT THINK

SO I DO NOT FIGHT IT ANYMORE

I JUST KEEP MYSELF BUSY

SO THE NORM NOW -- IS THAT

HUSBAND WORK --

WIFE WORKS -- IF SHE DOES

IF SHE DOESN'T WORK -- THEN DO SOMETHING -- DO NOT STAY HOME

SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH -- DOES NOT WORK -- IF YOU STAY HOME ALONE

IT IS TIME NOW -- TO PUT THOSE THEORY INTO ACTION

SO GO OUT EVERYDAY --

EVEN ONLY TO VOLUNTEER

FIND A NICE PLACE TO VOLUNTEER

START SLOW -- GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND

YOU NEED TO BE FAITHFUL TO EACH OTHER THOUGH

IF YOU NEED TO HAVE A DISCUSSIONS -- HAVE IT BY ALL MEANS

BUT MAKE SURE YOU STAY TOGETHER

THERE ARE PEOPLE THAT CANNOT STAY TOGETHER

BUT MOST PEOPLE STAY TOGETHER

I MYSELF -- MIGHT BE ENDANGER OF BEING ALONE

BUT GOD HAS BEEN SO GOOD TO ME AND MY HUSBAND

WE ARE STILL TOGETHER

PLEASE PRAY FOR US

GOOD LUCK

KATHY

Good question. I hadn't thought about that before. This is going to take work.

The church we were in
We had "gone together" before
If there is more, I will have to think about it and come back to add it.

I thought he was a particular person, but he wasn't what I thought then. He has become that person since, though, so I really want to honor that.

I voted "Yes, all of the time!" We run errands together, hang out together, go to appointments together etc. Other than when hubby is at work, we spend all of our time together. We go on evening walks at least several times per week and that's a great way to have some quality time together. We also cook dinner together several nights each week. We eat dinner many nights with the tv and computer on but still make time to visit a little more before bedtime. Most couples probably don't spend so much time together but that's the way we like it. [:)]

We are the same way!! The only time we're apart is when he's at work or when he's deployed (he's in the military).

vahunter70 -> RE: Do you and your spouse spend a lot of time together (7/22/2008 1:38:54 PM)

I am so encouraged to read of other couples who spend as much time together as my wonderful hubby and I do.

[sm=hug.gif]

While there isn't a "norm" so to speak, I believe that sharing time together is important to the health of our marriage.

aquilusone -> RE: Do you and your spouse spend a lot of time together (7/22/2008 2:23:19 PM)

I answered a fair amount.

We are very busy being involved with our children and church.

He likes to be doing stuff together all the time, I find that a little stifling.

I like being with him, but sometimes I just want to be close to him not necessaraly interacting all

the time. He and I have different likes and dislikes. We do like a number of the same TV shows,

we have the kids and house and church. Maybe I am unusual.

car2ner -> RE: Do you and your spouse spend a lot of time together (7/22/2008 2:45:43 PM)

Not only do we like to be together, we like to touch all the time, too.

dianemccrary -> RE: Do you and your spouse spend a lot of time together (7/22/2008 6:04:50 PM)

I voted Yes! All The Time. We both are unemployed right now so we both at home during the day and at night,Plus we go do errands together, then we involved in a ministry together. We have our moments where we get on each other's nerves[8|] But we do love spending time together!![:D]

Covaan_Meshuga -> RE: Do you and your spouse spend a lot of time together (7/22/2008 6:10:01 PM)

We're working on this, partially because of this thread but mainly because of him.
